What should have been a simple and…

What should have been a simple and straightforward transaction turned into disappointment and stress!

I asked my sister to go to the Metrobank branch on F. Tanedo St., Tarlac City, to request a bank statement and a bank certificate. The bank statements were issued, but with the wrong address, even though my sister had updated her details a long time ago. She didn’t notice the mistake right away.

When it came to the bank certificate, things got worse. The staff asked her where it should be sent or addressed. My sister was confused because she knew that the certificate is supposed to be issued to the account holder, though it may be addressed to the Migration Department for immigration purposes. It should not literally be sent by post to that office. She explained that she needed it as part of her immigration application, but the bank staff insisted that they required the department’s address so they could mail it directly.

That made no sense. If the certificate were mailed to the Migration Department, how would anyone there even know what it was about or which application it belonged to? After going back and forth in confusion, my sister ended up leaving without the bank certificate.

Are the staff in this branch really trained in their own policies? Why can’t a simple bank certificate just be issued to the customer on the spot? It’s frustrating and unreasonable to insist on sending it by post.

Interestingly, my other sister requested a bank certificate from a different Metrobank branch in another town, and everything went smoothly. She was given the certificate immediately, no problem at all.

I honestly think all bank staff should be properly trained and aligned with the same policies to avoid situations like this.

My sister even felt that the bank staff might be discriminating against her because of her status as a pensioner, which is very disappointing to realize.

Misinformed and Conceited Manager

The manager in MetroBank Poblacion, Alabang branch, does not know the products they are offering online. Ms. B********o told me that they are no longer offering prepaid cards for shopping purposes, which is different in what the website is offering. She is so confident and conceited that she will raise it to higher management to have the prepaid card products be removed in the website. If Metrobank is really not offering this product, why is it listed on your website?. I really don't know who is being transparent here, the manager or Metrobank itself...hmmm..Please enlighten us clients.

And, one more thing, the company should be more selective in hiring applicants and should mandate behavioural exams, Metrobank's reputation is being ruined by this kind of employee. Btw, I have waited 30 mins, before I was entertained, when literally there is no other clients waiting in line but me., Their delaying tactics, pretending to be busy is unacceptable. Poor customer service and misinform employees. I hope other Metrobank branches are not like this.

OTP code issues with the new application

They created a new banking application and it is hard for me to receive an OTP code with the registered number I provided. I have a family emergency and it is so impossible to process transactions with this bank. They have also misinformed me alot of times. They have the worst banking process and as a bank itself. Worst customer services as well.

I tried to open an ATM savings acct yesterday. I was rejected because I needed to show a contract of my employment as freelance tutor. However, the 2 customers previous to me were just in a similar status. They were not also employed but they were approved. The other customer had connections with a bank manager. ???

Poor customer communication

Website is very difficult to navigate through. Chatbot is completely useless. Does not give any answer to a real problem. Very difficult to find any contact information on their website e.g. phones or e-mail addresses. You have to search Google to find it. E-mails are responded after days of waiting and still have no helpful content.

Completely useless at everything

1. Queues in branch so long you can grow a beard.
2. App completely useless at everything.
3. Statements give no useful information (e.g. payee name, location, or even my own comments typed in on the ebanking transaction). Useless statements. Waste of paper.
4. Change address 4 times (total 10 hours of queueing) and they still send all mail to my old address.
Best thing I can say about them is .........nothing is good
