Shame you can't give them 0 out of 5

MG your customer service is appalling. My MG4 has been off the road for 12 weeks as it is unable to charge. You dont have enough mechanics who are able to work on cars and you dont seem to have a courtesy car to give to customers. I strongly believe you have no idea how to fix the problem. I am a working mum with 2 children. This is completely unacceptable.

Awful - Do Not Buy

UPDATED - Even MG Head Office have brushed off the issue and refused to offer a solution
DO NOT BUY AN MG

I have an MG HS. The main screen / console crashes every other day.
It is still under warranty, but no dealership will replace the screen.
Over 4 months of back and forth with dealership and MG customer service and I am still stuck with a car where you can't turn on the air (or turn it off) use maps, or update audio if it crashes. It has left me stranded on more than one occasion!

I purchased my car an 2025 MG ZS…

I purchased my car a 2021 MG ZS Exclusive with 15.000 miles on the clock and paid nearly £15,000 for it, I had it for about 3 weeks and noticed that the driver's seat was splitting on the side so contacted the garage I purchased it from (Louth' Lincolnshire) and asked them if they would do something but was then informed after one year the seats are not covered by Warranty!! the seats on the Exclusive are a cheap plastic bonded to cloth behind and that is the problem, there is hardly any bonding of the two so you just have a very thin panel of plastic moving every time you get in or out of the car, do a search on UTube and just look at some of the seats on peoples cars yet MG deny any responsibility, for a company to knowingly ignore the problems of customers with this cheap crap is disgusting. would I buy another MG? NEVER.

MG UK customer service needs to do better

I leased an MG HS phev in may 2025. I installed the MG iSMART app and all was well. In June the app signed me out. I could not sign back in nor could I “bind” the vehicle as the system showed it was already bound. This is where the problem starts MG UK customer service asked me to send a copy of the leasing document or alternatively get the leasing company to send it. I sent a copy only to then be told they now need the V5. Apparently I can bind the vehicle but only the owner can unbind it.
MG UK customer service has been appalling. They are more of a hindrance than a help. The lease document has all my details, VIN number, registration number but that is just not enough.

MG Drive, Patchway, North Bristol.

Well I never got around to driving a MG4. Turned up for a test drive 15 minutes (they suggest 10 minutes) early, took 5 minutes to find a place to park. Told sales person would be with me soon. Coffee machine not working, horrendous music on loud in showroom. Salesman finally turned up 15 minutes after appointment time, that's 25 minutes after I arrived in showroom, that after much chasing. Decided against test drive. I hate to think what their after sales service is like.

Wrong Trim given

After buying my car we heard a flapping noise turns out they hadn't screwed the front bumper. I also noticed that the coolant was leaking and the next day when I tried to top it up I found that the whole thing was just gushing out. I also noticed later on that they had given me the wrong trim of car I paid for an Exclusive model and upon research I noticed that I have an excite. At first they were replying me but now they have ghosted me. I have said if I don't hear within 7 days I will be taking legal action. I bought my MG from Oliver Cox in Ipswich who.made me feel like I was buying a car that was ready but now I notice that the car wasn't roadworthy from the get go even their mechanic said that it should have been an auction due to the crack on an engine ohhh yeah that's the other thing cracked engine on a car they said was ready for sale

Theft of parts by MG

I took car which was new in five days after new purchase,…it’s been there for 2.5 months…they lied about date of repairs…plus not refund petrol money they promised..after return of car they stole door handle part as short of stock…they have four weeks later still not replaced part…asking me to sue legally as defective car and theft of parts.
MG Chiswick..closed down dealership…I have now got to go to police and get crime reference number to sue them…Mr Williams in their Chiswick after sales fobbing me off daily for month now..Beware as MG must be broke as they can’t source parts and remove them from new cars to repair others..I have reported to ombudsman’s and will take legal action if I fail there.
MG head office cheat customers and provide defective cars ..

Absolutely terrible service with…

Absolutely terrible service with everyone at MG. My car is less than 2 years old and is having major engine issues and told it’s my fault for not looking after the car. AA recovered my car and left it at a Citroen garage next door and lost my keys and MG assistance were useless and tried to blame the MG garage. Then told I’m not eligible for a courtesy car due to not applying for one in 3 working days when I wasn’t offered one and no one told me this was the case. I now don’t have any means on transport for work

Reoccurring Mg zs fault

Brought a new MG automatic zs in September 2023 and have today had to report for the 4th time a disconnect of the radio module. The car has been in 4 times to have it reset or the last time to have the module replaced. Each time I book it in with MG Farlington I have to wait at least 2 months with absolutely no chance of a courtesy car. Not what I expected when buying a new car

Delays to warranty repair

I have an MG HS PHEV and it failed three weeks ago. And was recovered to my maintainer through MG assist.

It appears there is a transmission or gearbox issue but the dealer cannot dismantle it because a “special tool” is needed. After three weeks MG have not advised when this tool will be available. The customer service team tell me is a week - the dealer tells me they have no timescale. As a result I am a)without a car and b) seemingly getting nowhere as nobody knows what tool delivery times are.

Annoyingly this is at the point where I am buying a new electric MG5S with the HS as part exchange. The dealer can’t accept the car as the warranty issue isn’t agreed, it can’t be agreed as no one has the tool and MG don’t seem able to provide either the tool or timescale for this all to happen.

My new car is delivered to the dealer and I was planning to collect it Friday but because of this farce that cannot happen.

I’m on the verge of giving up and just going elsewhere for a car although I’ll still be delayed as the whole process for getting my existing one repaired is taking an excessive time.

It’s bad enough getting MG to authorise any warranty issues as they are incredibly slow responding to dealers. I’m starting to get the feeling the company doesn’t care about customers once they have sold the cars.

Why you cannot provide tools to dealers promptly and efficiently is beyond belief.

From this experience which I’m finding incredibly stressful any intending purchasers should be aware that your convenience and indeed brand loyalty is unlikely to be considered if you buy one of their vehicles. As an erstwhile ambassador for MG cars as they are bloody good, over three weeks of delays and now being in a position where no one is even able to help despite my impending new purchase does not tell me anyone really has the customer experience on their agenda.

Abysmal service

Awful MG service team.

My 1+ years old MG4 Trophy (still under warranty) broke down last week with a motor fault, and it was recovered to Richmond Guildford (dealer). That's when the nightmare started. I was initially given a hire car for 4 days, then had to return.

Apparently a technical fault has been raised and they do not know how long the remedial work will take, so they contacted MG.

I have called and explained that my work involves emergency care, and may need to travel at a short notice out of hours to the hospital. So I was hoping that they may expedite my case in view of my duty of car, just so that I have a transport especially with a long weekend coming but it fell on deaf ears. I asked the service person for the manager's contact to escalate my concerns but he refused. I then asked for if there is any other ways to get MG to approve the hire car extension quicker to which he says no. And I was told that hire team can take up to 48 hours to review the submission and they don't work weekend.

So, now I am still left without a car, and not sure how long for. Not impressed.

Overall it’s a cheap car with poor service. Steer clear.

The car bought 3 years ago (MG HS) feels cheaply made. It had scratches to the interior when bought which I was promised would be fixed. 2 years later until they said, oops we forgot. The nav and entertainment system is slow and full of bugs. Often shitting down or just not working. It’s MPG is abysmal and I’m lucky to get 32mpg driving conservatively. To top it off, some of the parts can only be sourced and replaced by MG who charge a massive premium.

Overall it’s a cheap car with poor service. Steer clear.

I purchased a brand-new MG RX8 car in…

I purchased a brand-new MG RX8 car in April 2023 directly from the official MG dealer in Abu Dhabi (Inter Emirates Motors), expecting reliability and peace of mind. Unfortunately, the experience has been extremely disappointing and frustrating.

Just a few months after purchase, the vehicle began showing serious electronic faults — communication errors between modules like the Body Control Module, TPMS, HVAC, and parking sensors. Despite returning the car multiple times and being told it was fixed, the same issues keep coming back.

What’s worse is that this problem has been dragging on for over a year, causing me to spend extra money on rental cars whenever my MG is back in the service center. I’ve also had to seek third-party diagnostics to confirm the faults.

The lack of accountability and failure to provide a permanent solution from MG UAE is simply unacceptable — especially when the vehicle is still under warranty. This experience has completely eroded my trust in the brand and in their after-sales service.

I hope the company takes serious action to improve its customer service and product quality. No customer should have to go through this after buying a new car.

I am not impressed with my mgzs 2021…

I am not impressed with my mgzs 2021 ev. Advertised range of about 165 miles. Under the best of conditions ie warm weather, not using heater, driving on economy mode, it can hardly go 120 miles. Unpleasant surprise on a long trip!
Again, it has no inbuilt satellite navigation. I must connect my phone to the car via USB. Really not impressed though I haven't had any other problems apart from these
