Terrible shipping service

I paid 10 dollars extra for Next-day delivery comparing to Standard delivery and guess what. The package still came in 4 days after I ordered. So next day delivery and standard are the same things, who would have thought! Moral of the story: Don't pay extra and expect faster shipping!

Totally off the wall interest rates

Looking for another computer, for my business. I bought the last computer at Micro Center but I think I’m going to shop around. The salesperson was nice and I got a great computer. My biggest complaint was at checkout. I got the Micro Center credit card, 6 months same as cash, which I paid off right away. My problem was when I looked at their finance charge. Flippen 28 percent. People are in prison for loan sharing less than that percent. Ripping off the little people who can’t afford to pay their purchase off in 6 months.

Embarrassing customer service

It appears that 2020 has been a challenge for us all. Perusing the reviews for Micro Center, they are not having a good year. I'm afraid this review has little chance of making it better. I would have given them 1 star but the young man at the counter, Tyler, I think, did make every effort to try to make amends only to draw the line when they should have given me everything they promised me... without charging me $100 dollars.
Last week, I spilled something on my laptop. I had the coverage policy which eased my pain just a little. I took my original laptop in to see if it was fixable. They communicated to me that it probably will not be able to be fixed when coffee with creamer has been spilled on it. After their inspection, they discovered it could not be repaired but my warranty was in effect, AND my hard drive was not damaged. Thank goodness is what I thought. I picked out a new laptop. Their tech person, said they would be able to transfer my information from my old hard drive to my new hard drive. No fee was mentioned. It wasn't listed on my receipt either. I did receive a personal call from the tech person, Mark, that said the transfer was complete. The next day, I proceeded to view my new laptop and the files that were supposed to be transferred from the hard drive only to find out I could not locate any of them. I decided the next day to go back to Micro Center to ask them where the tech would have placed them. They had given me my original hard drive back. In talking to the 2 techs at the counter, the conversation started out positive. They investigated the places on my new laptop first to see if they could locate it. When that didn't work, they cooked up my previous hard drive to some device to see if they could retrieve it from there, only to conclude - so they thought - that the hard drive was damaged. After several attempts of unplugging, then re-plugging it in several times, and viewing it on another computer, one of the gentleman behind the counter started yelling about the hard drive was damaged, and there was no evidence that Mark had even done a transfer, it wasn't on the receipt, all this crap that never addressed the issue just cluttered the issue and reeked of the utmost insulting customer service. He tried confusing me saying that I was confusing him between a laptop and a desk top, then accused me of not being honest that that hard drive was even from my laptop, and how do they know that. He started spewing information about how he could send me to someone that does data recovery for $1400 to $2000, like I'm going to pay that. He went off the deep end. I tried to explain to him, that maybe it was his device and could he try a new device to locate the information his company assured me they retrieved before but 2 days later, their top tech person could not locate. I even asked for another tech person. He said he was the best tech person. I feel sorry for them. A tech person that couldn't figure out the tech part AND poor people skills. I can't imagine he would be getting any good reviews when customers get outraged that his tech people didn't deliver on a service they promised. It was then after he had escalated the situation by not listening to my requests and immediately going to blame for something they were not necessarily responsible to give in the first place. Bottom line, they promised something they didn't deliver and did not feel they were responsible at all. I don't know what happened with the customer being correct but this company certainly won't be getting any references from me with customer service at it's basic form as deplorable an experience as that was. Finally, they both went back and decided to attempt to get information from the so called damaged hard drive on another device only to find the younger sales person approaching me and asking me if I had to pull files off of it, what would I be looking for. You guessed it. They indeed were able to retrieve all the files from the hard drive but weren't willing to just dump everything like they previously promised, onto my new laptop, which would take about a total of 4 minutes, unless I paid them $100. Scam is right. They promised me it was completed before, whether they documented it or not, not my fault, but because I called them on their crap and found their mistake, then they wanted me pay for it! It's a wonder they are still around with customer service like that.

All in all, they did retrieve some of the items I needed, my doctoral thesis, but were unwilling to give me all of what I asked without me paying a fee that was promised to me before for free.

It's unfortunate that the gap between the quality of their merchandise and their customer service is as big as the Grand Canyon. My only obligation to them as far as a customer would be to honor my 3 year warranty if I need it and to give them the honor of this review.

One of the better brick and mortar stores

I have always had great service from their B&M stores. Although the staff can have more people waiting on them then they can help at one time they typically have a good attitude, and do their best to help. Their prices are typically competitive to online, and when not they typically work with you on this. They also carry some items you cannot find elsewhere locally. Sim Racing cockpits, gaming chairs and tables. I will continue to buy from them as long as they treat me well.

Micro Center scam I would’ve given -5 stars if I could

I went to that my local Micro Center for three days in a row for an RTX 3080 graphics card. I waited outside on the line for several hours to walk away empty-handed. The people in front of me had a whole scam set up where they’d have one person stay over night and then have all his friends show up at like 8:30-9am. They’ll tell everyone online they’re not there to buy a graphics card they had bought the previous day so nobody thinks anything of it. Fast forward to 9:45 AM the employee comes out with vouchers and those same people that say they’re not there for a card then tell the employees they been there all morning. This happened to me two days in a row the same people so on the second day I left mind you the store has a limit one per household rule and these kids got upwards of five the employees don’t check IDs don’t take names they don’t care. I am disabled I stood on the line for five hours for this to happen I still can hardly walk because of it when I told the employees they said there’s nothing they can do shrugged her shoulders and walked away. I’ve contacted the BBB their support was told they were going to reserve me one and then ignored me there’s a great way to do business. I’m gonna try to go again on Tuesday early in the morning but I have a feeling the same people are going to be there running scams with the employees because they were the front of the employees. If anybody from Micro Center Sees this do you know who this is and you know how to contact me. I will continue to go to every website and bash this company until the situation gets rectified imagine having a disabled person waiting on a line for five hours to get screwed by employees and customers running scams together god You got a love living in 2020 good people get screwed in the scam and get rewarded

If I could give negative stars I would

If I could give negative stars I would. We bought a Chromebook from them, and realized we need a touch screen laptop. We haven’t even used the Chromebook but because we are a few days beyond the return window they won’t let me exchange it. I even explained I was happy to buy the computer from them. I can’t get anyone to answer the phone to confirm what the online chat told me. Given everything going on in 2020 one would hope they could follow many other retailers and offer a little flexibility and understanding to their customers. I guess that’s too much to ask for.

Computer repair time is awful. Wouldnt mind if they would actually let you know is it repairable. Turned it in over a week ago and zero idea if they can even repair it. I send a text everyday and all I get back is a tech will get back to me later in the day. Nothing.

scam warranty

i bought a laptop from microcenter they try to sell me 80$ warranty and unfortunately i bought it so when i back to them for problem in my screen they said this warranty doesn't covered and it's just covered the manufacture issue .
so can you explain to me why i should buy warranty for manufacture problem which should be there problem and when ask them that the manager said we make the contact with the company ...wow.. i paid 80$ for you guys to make the connection . they try top get the money from people in any way .
you can see other big company such as home depot how it's easy to back any product they already sell it to you .
any way i went to store 3 times and was very angry about why they let me pay 80$ for warranty but even though nobody tell me we can refund the warranty until my friend advice me to do it . i was good customer for them but no more they are so bad company .

MicroCenter boned me

I brought my desktop to MicroCenter after I couldn't install an SSD myself, at home. They told me they couldn't do it either, and offered to swap out the HD for the SSD. This is a simple task I could do myself, and I said I could do it myself. They then moved two cables and charged me $80.
They technically installed the SSD, which is what I asked for, so I didn't feel like I could refuse payment. But that's still shady as fahk.
Be careful before you go by there, they will charge you way too much for tasks you can do yourself. Watch Youtube.

Good selection, questionable service

Good selection, varying service. Initially had a bad experience with having to wait in multiple lines despite having an online order on file. After waiting in line for 15 minutes to pick up my online order, they told me that the RAM I had purchased was not available. Fine, I asked if I could buy another module instead because no computer works without RAM installed. They said yes, but I would have to wait in another line to get the part from the back. I said I knew what part I wanted, but they said they wouldn't go get it (30 second walk) but that I would have to wait in another line for 20 minutes.

So I went to wait in the other stupid line to finish my Micro Center PC build. Luckily, the manager had been notified and he got me out of the second line after 10 minutes and fixed the situation by getting the part I wanted.

All in all, I was able to build my PC the same day with good part selection and good prices. However, I ended up spending close to an hour at the Micro Center despite having an online order ready for pickup.

Very knowledgeable and helpful

I have had to deal with three defective Gigabyte motherboards in a row and Micro Center was a great help in assisting me in determining that the issue was in fact the motherboard and not my builds or any other component.
They have been helpful, knowledgeable and have made recommendations that worked.

I am writing this review for both the…

I am writing this review for both the customer service of the micro Center website, as well as the customer service in the store, and finally for the people who work inside the store. ( specifically the store located in Queens New York).
Clearly the people of this establishment do not care about checking identification when someone is making a large purchase. My bank mailed me a credit card, which apparently someone got their hands on (before it got to me in the mail), this person then went to Micro Center to purchase a $4000 item ( this was their first and only stop). I don't know how they could activate a new card, or why the person at the Micro Center didn't bother to check the person identification and compare it with the name on the credit card like most normal establishments would do for such a large amount.
Perhaps the people at micro Center condoned fraud. Or maybe the employees are well aware of the scams they are doing. As soon as I got a notification from my bank I made every effort to reach out to the company with my concerns, first I called the customer service number on the website, nothing. Then I called the direct store to speak with the manager - again no answer. Then I wrote multiple emails to both the website customer care as well as directly to the manager of the location where the fraud occurred.
I never received a response from the website, never got a call back, and never received any email responses. ( and mind you I tried to reach out more than four times using each available contact source).
I find it incredibly weird that no one was able to get back to me.
Clearly there is something incredibly off about this company and the way they run the business. Additionally when this happened the store was recently open so you would think they would take extra care to ensure that the proper precautions and simple identity check would be done at the time of purchase.
All I have to say - is buyer beware. If you have an issue no one will help you resolve it, and it seems very likely that you're personal banking information could either be stolen or used elsewhere.
A suggestion to the store: considering that your company sells expensive electronics it should be standard protocol to check the identification of people trying to make purchases with credit cards regardless of the price of the item. Additionally if you provide contact information for store locations and managers and on your website it would make sense that someone respond to inquiries from concerned customers, otherwise do not provide contact information if you intend on ignoring your customers.

Never shop at micro center again

So I filed a report with the better business bureau due to one of their employees making my daughter feel extremely uncomfortable while I was in their store, and after 2 or 3 phone calls I still feel li,e they just dismissed any wrong doing on behalf of their boy and they told me my daughter was full of crap but they said it in other words to try and make my kid out to be a liar. So if you don't want your kids eyed up and Down by some perverted associate do not shop at their store. I was a weekly visitor but never again. I would at least hope they would take my claim seriously but I feel I was just pushed aside and told sorry about my luck.

Been a great experience with them

Been a great experience with them.
I've bought from them for years as we have one that's local. So this is going to be about their actual store & not their online store.
I just upgraded my PC recently and had a number of other sites quoted for prices. They quickly priced matched all the ones I had saving me hundreds of dollars on my build and headaches if I went with shipping from various online stores.
They have a lot of options and even with this recent Covid pandemic going on store pick up was a breeze. Bought it online, drove up got help with lifting it into the car and on my way.

If a price seems too high, look around online and as long as it's from an official store and not a 3rd party seller on there, they'll match it.

Ordered a refurb Lenovo thinkcentre

Ordered a refurb Lenovo thinkcentre. Within 10 mins got a email to proceed to the store. I selected curbside pickup, we waitied about an hour in our car. There was a line to limit people into the store in Queens, NY, considered to be the worst Covid outbreak worldwide. Employees were safe, and limiting people in the store.
The curbside pickup delivery guy knew the order, got it quickly, and put the computer in the backseat of the car.

I will be a long term customer to support local business. Stay safe.

ssue with MicroCenter online retailer

ssue with MicroCenter online retailer. Don't use their online order system. Ordered a item from the online web store. Cancelled the order within a few hours of the order placement. Removed the item from my order history and sent an contact notification using the MicroCenter browser tool on the Customer Service page. I drove several hours and picked up the item at a MicroCenter store. A few days later I saw the pending charge to my credit card. It was for the online order. Sent another contact notification telling the online web store to cancel the pending charge and cancel the order. I was told it was cancelled. Three days later MicroCenter shipped the item from the online order. I sent another contact notification asking what the hell are they doing sending the item. I've asked multiple times for the order to be cancelled. I get an apology from Sean Molnar and a FEDEX return label. I return the item the same day it is delivered. Dropped it off at Walgreens. Never opened the shipment box. FEDEX shows it delivered the next day. Five days later I'm still waiting for my refund of $276. Don't use this company. Completely incompetent employees!
