Friendly, helpful and informative staff and an excellent selection of product options across a range of prices. A piano purchase is quite an emotional journey but I was able to find the piano that matched my aspirations and budget.
After sale's service less than poor
purchased a piano from Millers with a cashback offer included from Yamaha back in October.
I tried so many times to claim the money back using documents provided by Millers Music as evidence of the purchase but each time Yamaha rejected the claims.
My final attempt with further documents provided by Millers Music on 17th Dec was submitted with Millers assuring me that if Yamaha failed to pay out, they would cover the missing refund. It is now 7th Jan and any attempt to get Millers Music to respond and provide the missing cashback have not even warranted a reply from Millers Music to confirm they have received my emails.
I chose Millers Music based on their longevity in the business and Yamaha for similar reasons. Given the prolonged lack of response from both companies I would never recommend them to anyone looking to spend a sizeable amount of hard earned money on a new instrument, such a sour taste left by my own experience indeed.
Customer service is a disgrace
Customer service is a disgrace. Placed an order for a piano and was told it would be delivered the following week. Called them to chase this up as they had gone silent since taking my money. Spoke to Amy Bolster at millers music who informed me that the piano wasn't actually I'm stock, they have placed an order with Yamaha the manufacturer, this can take 10 to 15 business days and then we will dispatch it to you. Wow, that is not what I agreed and so asked for a specific delivery date, cannot provide, I explained that this process or lack there off customer journey was very poor and she laughed.....she actually laughed, deplorable. Requested to speak to a manager. None available, still don't know when I am going to receive my order. Wouldn't use these ever again and still non the wiser as to when.
Professional expertise, coupled with great service
I have just had a very good and positive experience at this well-stocked music shop. The owner, Simon couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. He is clearly very knowledgeable and was able to give me any guidance I needed. We intend buying a keyboard in the coming months and Millers is definitely where we will head to first for their professional expertise, coupled with great service delivered with warmth and charm.
Consistently great service
We regularly go to Millers to buy sheet music and guitar strings, get recommendations on music teachers or piano tuners. They are always welcoming and make time to offer friendly, knowledgeable service and sustainable solutions. My latest purchase was a used duet bench for my piano. Love it!
Totally the business!
I’ve just had a great experience with the Millers Music team from start to finish. Friendly, knowledgeable and super-helpful. Thanks to Simon and Tilda especially. The shop is a gem, brilliant to visit. I got sorted out quickly with a starter digital piano keyboard to support lessons and inspire me.
Positive experience - acoustic piano
We had a very positive experience of Millers Music, having purchased a new acoustic piano recently. They were particuarly good on the phone and in-person, providing helpful advice on a visit to Cambridge. They also have an excellent piano delivery company working with them, who kept us informed and took good care of the piano.
Stay away from Millers Music and Kawai pianos
In November 2023 I reported to Millers Music Cambridge an issue with my Kawai piano (sound stopped working).
I recall Millers sales agents were so kind before my purchase and reassured me about the quality and rapidity of Kawai warranty, but after numerous calls and many months (8 to be accurate, June 2024) I still cannot use my piano! In these 8 long months Kawai have sent multiple times 2 kids to attempt and repair it but they were only able to have fun by assembling/disassembling the piano. Both Millers and Kawai are full of unprofessionalism, incompetence and disrespect, stay far away from them. I will spread the word as much as possible and surely drag them into a legal dispute.
A great help when moving our piano
A great help when moving our piano, with great creativity and ingenuity and good humour. Many thanks Simon.
Excellent Customer Service - Trustworthy Business
When you are handing over a significant sum for a Piano, trust and excellent customer service is critical. This is something that Millers have got just right. It's taken a while for me to post this, but after buying my Piano (New, Hoffman P120) from Millers, we had to have it stored for ~18mo due to prolonged home renovations. It came back about a year ago like it had never left. Excellent communication, organisation, after-service. Old (new) piano stool had been misplace in storage so Millers sent a brand new replacement (can't argue with that). [When moving house, I would always recommend enlisting the help of specialist piano movers, who have the correct equipment and technique].
Harmonica
The item I bought was perfect and packaged well. Super quick delivery with excellent communication.
Can't fault in any way
They didn't have exactly what I wanted…
They didn't have exactly what I wanted in stock, but were very quick to explain and offer an alternative, which arrived with the speed of light!
Wrong item sent, no response from customer service
Items posted quickly but they sent the wrong thing and since then haven't answered any emails. Wish I'd ordered from somewhere else.
FANTASTIC
FANTASTIC, SUPER FAST DELIVERY, I KNEW THE VERY TIME, DAY TO EXPEGT MY ITEM, ONE WORD....OUTSTANDING
Let us play pianos in their store and…
Let us play pianos in their store and gave great, honest advice. Slight lack of comm's when delivering the piano but given that they hired a van to deliver it themselves when their usual partner couldn't, I'm very grateful. And we love the piano.
Helpful advice and prompt dispatch.
Good experience with purchasing a Kawai cn39
Due to the covid, we had to make an appointment. The shopkeeper was very welcoming while explaining everything almost for an hour. Finally we ordered a KAWAI CN39 + a piano chair. The price was matched. A week later the piano arrived in excellent condition. We did assembled it but it is easy to do so. Initially the piano chair did not arrive but later we get one from the shop. Anyhow very friendly people and expert in what they do.
good does not match what was advertised
I bought a Westbury violin from Miller Music website. The violin was advertised as new with the following description:
"We have a number of brand new Westbury intermediate violins to clear from just £175 in a variety of sizes. Stock is limited and once they're gone they're gone. They all come with a full 12 month warranty.
These come with their original hard case, bow, and rosin. Each instrument is cleaned, tuned and set up by our team before dispatch so they are ready to play straight out of the box!"
However, when I received the violin, the violin case looked old and has several marks on it. Even worst, several metal buttons on the case had fallen off and were missing. Inside of the violin case, there was a name tag of someone (may belong to the previous owner?). There is also no rosin included as advertised. The violin itself was in good condition but it does not look new as there were dirts on it.
I sent an email to them to check if they had made a mistake by sending an ex-rental violin since there were many other ex-rental violins for sale on their website. However, I did not get any reply from them.
PS: Received reply from Miller saying the wordings of the ad were incorrect so what I thought was a new violin is actually an ex-rental violin. They offered a compensation which I accepted.
