Shockingly poor service

I had imagined buying a car would involve me handing over money and getting a car. That's not quite how things play out with Mini. Despite a website that looks state of the art, the infrastructure behind is non-existent. Try paying for something - you just can't. Try emailing for help. No reply. Try the live chat - everything needs to go through the dealer - who redirect me to Mini. Two days before pick-up with no details of the car to arrange insurance, no way to pay and no way to pick it up unless we paid, we walked away. I can't be the only one.

Disability Discrimination is endless…

Disability Discrimination is endless with Mini UK. They fail to sell to disabled customers. Don't know how to do VAT relief. Customer service never keep their word and fail in 5 months to sort out. CEO David Beattie never replies nor do their PR department. So horrific is this company that they are ok with the potential of leaving a disabled customer jobless and homeless due to failing in five months to sort VAT relief on an adapted car. They also don't listen to anything and there is not a scrap of care even when causing needless life threatening distress. If you are fortunate to have a choice in who you buy a car from avoid Mini UK. They own all the ordering portal, contracts and car stock. Dealers have no autonomy its all owned and controlled by this horrific uncaring and faceless company. There is no big love at this company at all. Stay away if you have a choice and buy your premium cars elsewhere from other brands.

Mini Cooper OMG! : (

Title: Absolute Lack of Integrity - MINI UK and Group 1 Reading are misleading customers!

Review Content:

I am writing this to warn everyone: MINI UK and their dealer Group 1 Reading are completely untrustworthy.

I have been dealing with a serious safety issue regarding a vehicle that failed to meet legal standards at the point of sale. Instead of taking responsibility, MINI UK simply brushed me off and told me to "deal with the retailer."

As for the retailer, Group 1 Reading, they have zero commitment. They promised a refund/payment over two weeks ago, but till today, not a single penny has been received. They keep making empty promises with no intention of fulfilling them.

This is not just poor service; it is a total lack of honesty and professional ethics. If you value your money and your safety, stay away from this brand and this dealership.

Mini Cheltenham do not run to the same…

Mini Cheltenham do not run to the same high standards as their Solihull branch. Unfortunately after buying a car with a stone chip in windscreen. Mini Solihull have said this is advisory on recent MOT to be done. The Solihull branch do not let their cars leave with anything advisory on an MOT on their sold cars. Unfortunately Cheltenham don’t run by the same standards and said it was acceptable to their expectations. Solihull have always been extremely helpful with all mini related work and support. But Cheltenham unfortunately don’t work to the same standards. I urge anyone thinking of looking for a new purchase to look at using a different branch.

DON’T buy unless you have deep pockets

If you are thinking of buying a new MINI…..DON’T!!!!
Major issue with brakes. I bought my Mini new November ‘22. On my 3rd set of brakes and pads! They did the first set as I complained bitterly at 15,000 miles and my first MOT a couple of weeks ago it failed on pads and seemed unsafe with incompetent repair by Sytner previously! Should have replaced a calliper but only adjusted it! Cost me over £450 this time. Also a damn annoying rattle that i can’t find! Been going on for ages! MUCH better cars in the market for less cash!
Mini HQ have been useless! Washed their hands of it!

Unbelievable Incompetence at its best

Unbelievable. After nearly three weeks, over 20 emails, and hours of phone calls, all I wanted was something as simple as a receipt for my purchase. Instead, I’ve experienced the most astonishing display of inefficiency and indifference I’ve ever encountered from a supposedly premium automotive brand. My customer satisfaction rating for MINI UK is zero. I’ve received better service from back-street dealers than from MINI UK — and that’s saying something. Not once has anyone offered a genuine apology, nor shown any urgency in resolving an issue that should have taken minutes, not weeks. To be clear, the failings lie entirely with MINI UK, not the retailer. I actually retract my earlier comments about Sytner, who were left trying to pick up the pieces of MINI’s disorganisation. My thanks go to Carl Hill, who ultimately resolved what should have been the simplest of matters — issuing a receipt. What’s most disappointing is the complete lack of accountability. Even after escalating the matter to the CEO, David Beattie, there wasn’t even a courtesy acknowledgment. For a brand built on “premium experience,” this is beyond unacceptable — it’s embarrassing. I will be sharing my experience across media platforms to ensure others are aware of the gross incompetence I’ve encountered and can make an informed decision before starting their own MINI nightmare. MINI UK has completely failed in its duty of care, professionalism, and customer respect. For a company of this stature, that is simply indefensible. Had Nitrogen tyres at Halliwell Jones…

Had Nitrogen tyres at Halliwell Jones Wilmslow. Gave me my car back with front tyres under inflated by 4.35 psi. Apparently, that is dangerous according to various websites. Went and put air in to increase the pressure, which kind of defeated the point of having Nitrogen tyres. Made a complaint and got a refund for the Nitrogen, which was the least they could do considering they hadn't done the properly. Made a complaint to Mini UK head office about receiving the car back in a dangerous condition. Was fobbed off stating nothing to do with them as the dealership is a franchise. They wouldn't even say if the tyres were dangerous or not, as not tyre specialist. Beyond hopeless.

My mini lovely car but a complete lemon

My mini, bought new in 2015, was ok up to 2019, low mileage well looked after, suddenly red warning sensor lights appeared. I was informed by Mini Croydon that the wiring chassis was damaged, wiring wet and disintegrated. I was asked where I keep it, off road? I said it's parked on a suburban driveway at my home maybe 10 miles away from them. They tried to make me pay, thankfully the Service Manager Diane got agreement from Mini UK and Mini Warranty to cover the cost. Roll on 5 more years still under 11k mileage, the Idrive screen goes completely dead, so blank screen, no satnav, no reset of TPMS, no radio, nothing. Mini Croydon say it can't be reset needs a new control unit from Germany, £2k plus. I pay it as I've little choice. Roll on another year mileage still under 12k, the TPMS Failure, not measuring the tyre pressure. I know they're ok as I manually check them myself. Two garages say must take back to Mini to get it fixed.  So another robbery of my hard earned cash. Sadly I will never buy another Mini and I'd advise anyone not a mini mechanic or a millionaire to avoid them like the plague. Do your research check all the forums, there's dozens of them, inform yourself of their record of complicated expensive problems before parting with your hard earned cash. I sure wish that I had, but I was seduced by the iconic car. Lesson hard learned.

Dishonesty, delays, poor communication… MINI BRAND VALUES

I have been a lifelong fan of MINI, and I was so proud to be buying my mother a MINI as a gift! I have never been more disappointed or let down by a brand in my life. MINI UK should be absolutely disgusted in themselves. The service I have experienced is worse than any I have experienced before. I cannot believe they are part of BMW Group. They are an embarrassment.

I purchased the car well over 2 weeks ago. I was told it would be defleeted within a couple days as it did not belong to the dealership, but rather belonged to MINI UK. That day came and went. I asked about delivery, and the first two delivery days I asked for came a went too, so we eventually agreed on the following Friday. Now a week past the date I had purchased the car. Deposit paid, delivery fee paid!

At the absolutely last minute I’m told the delivery will not take place because MINI cannot release the vehicle. They cannot do this because MINI UK system is faulty and they are not able to release vehicles from their stock. This vehicle that was supposed to have been released more than a week prior, and no one had bothered to tell me it hadn’t been.

It’s now over two weeks since this sale contract was concluded and MINI still have my car. I purchased a car from them over two weeks ago and they refuse to give it to me. They have their money, they don’t mind that they’re putting me out in any way. To make matters worse, they are blatantly lying to me on twitter. They told me 15:54 yesterday that is was good news and I can expect delivery of the car. I contact the dealership today, the car is no released, hasn’t even finished being check yet; and then when it was checked, MINI UK declined it and the dealership don’t understand why.

Who are these clowns? Who is running this company? There is absolutely no customer service here at all.

Still no car. Still no ownership or honesty from MINI. They don’t seem to care nor are they willing to communicate with transparency.

Completely unreliable!

I had my car repaired at oldbury

I had my car repaired at oldbury. Cannot fault the service. There was a guy in the sales called mark who assisted me with finding the correct place for my repairs which was a way off, not being familiar with the area made it a little difficult. He went above and beyond. Thank you Mark
Also the staff at the insurance who dealt with the claim were also worth praise due to their care and consideration at all the turns. The insurance is through mini.
I will always deal with mini as I find them a really nice bunch of people. Maybe I’m biased I’ve had 8.

The service is too bad.

I'm currently sharing my negative experience of purchasing a used MINI car from Group 1 - MINI Reading, situated on Drake Way, Reading, Berkshire.

I made the purchase in March 2025. The salesperson asserted that the vehicle was in good condition. However, merely a week later, I noticed a cracked windshield with signs of prior repair. They concealed this defect, which is a violation of my consumer rights.

After discovering the issue, I reached out to the dealer. They agreed to conduct repairs, but the outcome was a complete disaster; the windshield looked almost exactly the same as its original damaged state. I requested a replacement of the windshield, but they refused, claiming that since the car had passed the MoT, there was no problem. My follow-up emails have gone unanswered, and I'm left uncertain about the after-sales situation.

This has not only squandered my money and time but also poses a safety hazard. I strongly advise others to stay away from this dealer. Please post this on your website to warn potential customers.

Inaccurate sizes and poor quality

I ordered 3 bras costing £19.99 at the beginning of June and ordered the correct size based on their size guide. I chased them several times and they finally arrived today (22.7.2025) and they are absolutely rubbish! The band is huge and the cups tiny. I have complained but based on other reviews I'm not hopeful of receiving any response let alone a refund. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE!

I raised a complaint when some damage was done to my car by the dealership.

Firstly, they claimed that the garage was independent (even though its a Mini dealership).

They initially promised to see things through and help me get a resolution.

They gave up on my after a few days and abruptly stopped responding to me emails or case.

Expect little customer service help from Mini if you have an issue.

Williams Mini Manchester

Waste of time from the salesman Jordan Davison
Enquiry on purchasing a mini for myself and someone else. Ready to test drive a mini. Salesman was quite useless and not friendly. Part of a salesman is to help assist in finding what's right for you. Friday wanted to test drive a car he said it's fine bring my driving licence and documents and then today does a complete U-turn. The person I am buying the car with works 4 on 4 off. He was quite intimidating saying there has to be a form of intention to buy all because I wasn't sure on the engine size. Really poor service and will not return to mini. Taking my custom elsewhere. No wonder the dealership is empty 90% of the time. Really poor

Wasted my time commuting to the dealership when I was under the impression everything was in order for a test drive. Also their marketing is a gimmick.

Faulty Part- no resolution

I have had a MINI Cooper for 4 years and in last 6 months a fault with a display cluster became apparent. On contacting MINI they were unable to book me in at Christmas time to review and suggested I went to another garage to get it fixed. I went to two BMW garages who separately completed diagnostic tests and no fault was shown. On contacting MINI and BMW finance I have had no resolution and been driving with no speedometer consistently working. I sent a formal complaint to BMW and have had no satisfactory response or apology for selling me a car with a faulty part but just a request that I pay for a test to see if that part was faulty in the first 6 months.
It is with regret that I have sold the MINI and bought a VW, if MINI had resolved this I would have continued to but MINI's as I did love the car but now I wont be back.

Avoid avoid avoid Mini Assist

Avoid avoid avoid Mini Assist. Paid into it several years, 1st time i need breakdown assistance i was told we ‘don’t have a technician available in your area - all on holiday, not back until 8am in the morning.’ Shocking! Any woman alone - or anyone else - could be at a dark roadside late at night - what then ? Presumably they would have to sleep in their car until ‘Mr Technician’ is back off hols next day! Not good enough my contract is for a roadside technician provided 24/7 , not just a pick up truck. When the technician did turn up/back off hols next day he told me he ‘couldn’t touch it as i might be liable’ and could only tow it to the Mini dealership 46 miles away. Due to same, i doubt v much they even sent a technician. After my car was repaired and ready to collect from the Mini dealers, someone from Mini Assist rang me on my moby whilst i was out walking my dog to say they would arrange a taxi, FOC under my policy, for me to go and collect my car. This person promised to ring me back at 2pm when i got home, but never rang me, i was just sat there, ready to go, waiting and waiting for the promised call back. I then tried to get through by phone to Mini Assist to find out what was happening and was just put on hold for half an hour, listening to endless music, before being pinged off to chat lines with no-one answering the chat lines either. So i had to arrange and pay for my own taxi - then Mini Assist rang me whilst i was on my way, several hours later, (over 2 and a half hours after the promised 2pm call back) and it would have been far too late by then to get to the Mini dealership before they closed. They also rang me on ‘no reply’ type numbers, so you cannot ring that number back immediately, or at all! COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY and possibly highly dangerous if your car breaks down /as above !! Dont fall for all the online ‘we are marvellous’ blurb, the reality is very very different !
