If are not french do not make a subscription to this company. It is a major hassle to get out of it. I had to pay for a couple of months after I left France, plus the coverage is not that great either.

Terrible Customer Service

This is the worst service I have ever received in my life. They let me call an international number, even though it is not a part of my plan, and then charged me so much money. I asked them multiple times to help me out with filing for a refund but they kept telling me they only have a postal address. I already moved out of France, how am I supposed to send them a post now? What kind of a company does not use email for customer service? Avoid this company at all costs!!!!!

Zero English Communucation

Free Mobile is the most unuseful company I have ever seen. They still don't have English-speaking agents and they don't check their social media addresses. They don't provide any email address to contact in another language. I am very disappointed and regretful about choosing this as my phone service provider for my exchange semester. They are still causing me problems back in my home country. If you don't speak french do not even think about buying from here.

After our contract expired they kept charging. After we wrote to them cancelling, they kept charging. Borderline criminal behaviour. We had to cancel our credit card to stop them. We have reported them to French authorities.

Free Mobile, absolutely useless! Don’t be drawn in by their cheap deals, it’s an awful service that they should pay us to receive and not the other way round!

I took an eSIM deal with Free Mobile on 6/5/23. There was a problem with the eSIM as it wouldn’t activate in the time stated by Free. I contacted them for help and they told me there was an error with the Esim service which was in the process of being repaired and that they couldn’t provide me with a refund because the line wasn’t active!!!

I have waited for two months having called Free many occasions to get updates on the error. Each time I have to explain all the same stuff as I have in previous communications so they clearly don’t take any client notes . They always tell me there is nothing they can do and I just have to wait , I ask how long I am expected to wait for and they can’t tell me! I had already paid for the service that they have openly admitted they can’t currently provide but they won’t provide a refund! Now, they continue to unlawfully charge me monthly subscription fees without providing any kind of service. Customer support is dreadful, the cell service that Free provide is some of the worst in France anyway, they are just cheap but that reflects on the service you receive from them. I highly recommend that nobody use any service provide by Free as they are simply fraudsters.

I bought a sim card for 10 euros to get the 2 euros/month plan. After 23 days, it no longer worked. When I went back to the store, they said the sim card had gone bad and I had to buy another sim card for 10 euros---but I could get a refund if I called 3244 (all in French, but they wouldn't help me understand it since I don't speak French). Coincidentally, while I was having this problem, another woman came in with the exact same problem---she had recently purchased a sim card and it didn't work. She was also told to buy another sim card and call 3244 if she wanted a refund. They said if you can't understand the message from 3244, "get someone to help you." This is a scam. I do not recommend Free.
Addendum: By the way, the "new" sim card I purchased for 10 euros also doesn't work. I still cannot receive or send calls or texts.

THE BIGGEST TRAPP OF ALL TIME

During my visit to Paris, I bought a sim card from Free mobile company. I asked for a line that I can use in all Europe, I was given the requested line BUT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DIDN'T TELL ME THAT USING IT IN SWITZERLAND WILL COST ME 83 EURO IN ADDITION (1 EURO PER MEGABIT). IT SEEMS THAT THE INTERNET WAS PROVIDED BY THE LALA LAND. I called their customer service for more information but THEY DON'T HAVE ANY DATA, I WAS CHARGED 83 EURO WITH NO EXPLANATION. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER, NO TRANSPARENCY, SURE NOT RECOMMENDED.

Free mobile service..most fraud service…

Free mobile service..most fraud service ever!!

the name Free mobile service is just a trap. There’s nothing free inside this sim card. Infact the company charges you too much for not so worth services. None the people speak english so there a bad quality customer service. The working people in the service center are often rude to the foreign customers. So in future if you want to stop the services they are not so supportive to process your things. Also they put your payments on autopay and if you want to cancel the autopay they dont have facilities to stop that from themselves. Rather they advice us to ask our banks to stop auto pay option..how uncomfortable ! So I would just say never…never ever go for this company for sim services.

IMPOSSIBLE to cancel, AVOID!!

Same experience as many people here. Was working in France for 6 months and used the 19.99 euro sim card (210GB).

All well and good until I needed to cancel. It's impossible to cancel on their website, phone line was busy at the time so I came into the store to do it there. I was then given a letter which I had to fill out and post in order to cancel..?? A few days after sending, I was contacted by Free to say that they were unable to cancel my contract as my request was submitted "anonymously" (appaerently you're supposed to put the sender details on the envolope, SORRY France). I was pretty annoyed as I'd wasted my time and the 5+ euros I spent on expedited delivery.

I was finally able to get through to them on the phone some time later, and had to jump through a million hoops in order to be connected with the correct department. Good luck if you don't speak English by the way - my French is limited but functional, so I was just about able to navigate through the automated service. After finally getting through to a human being, I asked them to cancel my contract, as by this point I had already been debited again for the next month. This woman seemed like she'd dedicated her life to stopping people from cancelling contracts, she would not give up!! She even suggested (and I laugh as I type this) "giving my sim card to a friend I might have in France" (ridiculous in itself)...but it was even after I had mentioned that I had already returned home to the UK!! After I kept insisting that I wasn't in France anymore so didn't need the card, I was told give proof that I was leaving the country - I was asked to attach proof of accomodation, travel tickets, and my new job contract?? I wasn't leaving France for work, I was GOING HOME!!

Despite all this, it still hasn't been cancelled (31/05/23), so now I've just blocked my bank card (La Banque Postale) so good luck to them trying to get their mitts on any more of my money. I almost look forward to the emails saying that they couldn't take the payment from my account hahah. Obviously it's annoying that I even have to do that in the first place, but I guess that's my only option at this point. I just wish I had done that sooner instead of wasting my time, money and mental sanity on trying to cancel through them.

Performance was good in France

Performance was good in France. However after I left I was charged way over the plan I was on and despite me trying at length to cancel my SIM, their " customer service" system allows you to keep trying without actually getting anywhere.
Very frustrating.

I've been billed nearly 50 euros over three months on a 2 euro per month forfait. There's no explanation for these additional charges and nothing shows up on the detailed summary of my monthly payments. Contacting Free directly seems impossible - you get shunted off to exchange messages with the personnel of your neighborhood Free boutique/branch, but no means of speaking directly to the billing department. Free seems to deliberately make it impossible to contact the company directly. The worst client (non) service I've ever encountered.

Horrible customer experience and…

Horrible customer experience and overcharged for 3 months. Free have not followed through on their promise to refund charges they made after my contract had been cancelled.
I used Free for 6 weeks on my trip to France. Trying to cancel was a painful process, I had to send a letter in the post - hello, it's 2023 Free and we do business online !!
I've now called them 3 times and every time they are unhelpful at best but eventually agree that I will be refunded for the 3 months that I continued to be charged after cancelling.
It has been 6 months now and I still haven't been refunded the incorrect charges despite all their promises.
Needless to say that I will NEVER use Free again and will shout from the rooftops about how bad a company this is.

Very bad network signal overall

In a nutshell, really bad network coverage. Even worse than using an MVNO sadly.

I'm really sad about this since I switched to free mobile because the data rates and offers seemed more decent that other french carries these times. I guess I got what I paid for. The network coverage is horrible. I tried the SIM on my main phone (Google Pixel 7 Pro) then my second phone thinking something was wrong with my phone (Samsung Galaxy S9+).

Data not working just randomly, signal drops, phone calls not stable. It's a disgrace especially when you think that the 19.99€ offer is really appealing.

I'm sorry but I don't recommend at all.

I endured two weeks of bad experience. I'm switching to my old carrier.

Genuinely impossible to cancel my contract. Having had to call, send proof that I was leaving the country, a lettre de résiliation, the cheek to then ask for a  « demande explicite » which I then sent and after all this my contract was still not cancelled, radio silence and then of course still received a bill for the next month. It should be illegal to make the method to cancel a contract this complicated. On top of this Free do not have an email address to contact whatsoever so it is impossible to discuss with anyone unless you phone. Horrible service.

Worst company ever - Impossible to cancel

Worst company ever, I lived in France for a year and had the free mobile without contract the whole time, when I left France I was smart enough to close the bank account associated with the free payment, because even after I had done all the passages to cancel my subscription (steps that are insane for a non-contract offer) they still charged me for 2 months. Having closed the bank account the payments were all rejected, so they cannot take money from me anymore, but they keep sending me emails asking for those threatening to cancel my contract, which is literally my objective from the beginning, and still haven't. I called their customer service 5 times, use the whatsapp service even more times, sending all the documents proving I left and sent the letter, nothing has changed. If you're insane enough to go live in france with all its stupid bureaucracy, stay as far away as possible from this company.

Dissapoited nothing works ended…

Tried to pay online nothing works ended up going directly to the store. Online payment indicated that my card doesn't support with 3D and my card has problem. Called bank and honestly everything good with my card. Paid tickets via mobile app and as soon as I reached 10 EUR the mobile data was restricted leaving me completely vulnerable. Honestly no one speaks English and it's shame in many telecommunications people not only should but Big Must speaking in English if required
Leaving Free mobile today as honestly pissed off with them and theirs services
