Very impressive by design choices
I was and am very exciting to have found this brand. I love pretty much everything on the website and plan to buy much more.
Usually, when looking for ‘alternative’ clothes I find they’re just a bit boho or they look cheap, so I’m so impressed to find a brand that is more streetwear and comfortable.
The quality is great, however I do need to point out that I purchased the ‘Angel Error’ T-shirt, have worn once and the writing it lifting up which is disappointing.
I also don’t understand why they’re produced in China. Maybe I didn’t read through the information correctly, and I can see they state the reason now but I’m unsure how you can be against fast fashion but then use the country that produces the most fast fashion and call that ethical.
Non the less, I’m not particularly eco either way so I will continue to buy.

I’m also really sorry to hear about the issue with your Angel Error T-shirt. That certainly isn’t the standard we aim for. While every garment is quality checked before dispatch, occasional print defects can unfortunately slip through. Regarding your comments about manufacturing in China, that’s a completely fair question and one we’re always happy to answer.
For us, being against fast fashion isn’t about where a garment is made—it’s about how it’s made. Fast fashion is built around mass production, overproduction, low-cost disposable clothing, and enormous amounts of waste.
MorteNoir operates very differently. Every piece is made to order only after it’s purchased, meaning we don’t mass produce collections or create unsold stock that ends up in landfill. Our production partner was chosen because they can consistently deliver heavyweight premium garments, high-quality printing, ethical manufacturing standards, and responsible production practices that align with our values.
China is home to both some of the world’s largest fast-fashion manufacturers and some of the world’s highest-quality textile factories. The country itself isn’t what determines whether production is ethical—it’s the manufacturing standards, working conditions, environmental practices, and production model that matter. We spend a great deal of time choosing partners who align with those principles.
That said, we completely understand why this can raise questions, and we genuinely appreciate you giving us the opportunity to explain our approach.
