Could've survived an apocalypse

The plates would've survived an apocalypse. Nothing could've touched them. The pieces were also individually wrapped, everything arrived without as much as a single scratch. Not to mention the pieces are gorgeous, of course.

Too long waiting time for delivery

I purchased goods 2 times and in both cases, after the first information of shipment, no more info also on DHL site about status of delivery for many days.

Quick delivery, safely packed, beautiful items

I ordered two surprise sets of 10 pieces each (but returned them because I didn't like all the colours). The return arrived the next morning!

The ceramic pieces are all really beautiful, and I decided to put through an individual order of pieces I actually need (the muesli bowls are too small for me but the pasta plates are big enough) in colours I love. There's lots of choice and often times discount periods.

I love that the pieces are truly handmade - they all look slightly different and the shape shows individuality which I personally love in ceramics I purchase. They are truly pieces made to last and I'm excited to be using them from now on (as soon as my new order arrives).

I'm lucky: there's a proper shop in my town where I could have a look at all the different pieces beforehand but online the choice is simply bigger.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY

In addition to the terribly overpriced shipping cost and hidden customs charge, my dishes arrived with 3 of the 24 broken due to terrible wrapping. When I asked for these to be replaced they instead refunded me and said they would not be doing free replacement to the UK and said I would need to place an additional order for these myself.

Several obvious problems with this. The "refund" they gave me was just for the discounted cost of the dishes as part of the set - approximately £18 each. To buy the dishes separately would cost £24 each. In addition to this I would now need to pay the excessive shipping cost of £29 again, despite the breakages being 100% the responsibility of the company. In the end it would cost me twice as much as my "refund" to replace the dishes broken due to this company's incompetence.

No satisfactory solution has been offered - for example offering to replace the dishes at the price I originally paid for them and waving the delivery fee.

This is a terrible company - do not waste your time and money on anything from them.

We’re also sorry that there were misunderstandings during the purchase regarding customs and total costs. We do provide information about possible duties for non-EU shipments in our FAQ and shipping details, but we see that this wasn’t clear enough in your case.

Regarding the damaged items, we truly regret that we couldn’t offer a better solution. At the moment, we’re unfortunately not able to provide free replacements to the UK. The refund you received is based on the discounted set price, which is why there is a difference compared to buying items individually.

Hidden charges for UK customers and slow delivery times

Products are fine, however the website is completely misleading with regards to the ACTUAL cost if you live in the UK. The website very clearly says “tax included” when you order the products, and it is only once the products have been full paid for and shipped that you are informed by UK Royal Mail that there will be a significant customs charge to pay on top of the already high cost of goods. This should be made clear AT THE POINT OF PURCHASE.
Intentionally not informing customers of this when they are paying for their products is very obviously to trick people into purchasing without realising they are going to pay much more than has been advertised, otherwise it would be written there in clear bold lettering.

It also took 2 weeks for the products to even dispatch. Terrible service.

Sale bags

I attended a sale: despite having booked (the booking would give us a tote bag), they gave the bags to everyone so they ran out by the time we got there. We did quite a big shopping and they placed the ceramic in PAPER bags which basically dissolved in the rain outside. I believe, if you give the possibility to book the slot to have a tote bag, the least you can do is calculate the correct amount and/or reserve the bags for the people who have booked.

Non existent customer service

Non existent customer service. My order checked out before I was finished, and then I realised the £30 delivery charge… for a few mugs. I emailed customer service less than a minute later to cancel, and have chased them threes since, and I’m yet to receive a response. I appreciate that overseas delivery has higher fees, but £30 for shipping a small box is outrageous, and to purposely not make it clear until after your order is confirmed is very sneaky. Very very disappointing.

No Response from Cutomer Service

After seeing items I liked in store I ordered online. The cup arrived with a broken handle, I let the company know straight away via their online form and asked for a replacement, I then followed up via email 3 times. 2 week later I have not had any response at all. That level of customer service is appealing.

Terrible customer service

Ordered set of 8 plates/bowls on 03/02. Didn’t receive confirmation email so emailed on 05/02 to check. Didn’t receive a response to the email and have sent a total of 3 emails since then and haven’t received a response to any. I still have received no correspondence or anything and have no idea if my delivery is coming or not. Terrible customer service

Best products

I had a couple things from Motel a Miio. Mirrors, cups, tableware and even lamps.
Everything is so well packaged every time ! I have never received anything broken.
Shipping is quite fast and the tracking is really nice.
The products are High quality and I recommend 100% !

Non existing customer support

I bought a set of 4x6 plates.

They arrived with 4 broken plates, and the customer support is unreachable by phone. They are not replying to my emails.

So I'm effectively sitting here with broken plates, and no way to get replacements sent. Would not recommend.

Product good, customer service does not exist

Well, where do I start.
Like the product but the customer service is disgraceful. Emailed as one plate of the quite expensive set we purchased is broken and the automatic response said that they will get back within 48h. Almost two weeks later and two reminder emails and still no response . Not replying is a no go. Issue: 288767

Products look nothing like the pictures

I ordered some plates online, but when I recieved them they looked nothing alike the pictures I saw on the website. The colors and contrast are very very different. I sent them a message on the website, and I tried to write again, but nobody answers me.

Please never ever order from this scam…

Please never ever order from this scam of a company. We ordered a huge set of plates and bowls of multiple sizes and waited patiently for delivery. We had to pay £100 extra for customs to UK which wasn’t mentioned before. And almost absolutely every piece in the order was completely demolished and destroyed beyond repair. Barely 1 piece survived. Everything was almost dust in the box and motel a miio are taking no responsibility and have given a refund that barely even cover the customs! Let alone any of the amount of the huge order we placed. The customer care staff don’t care and will not engage with us despite lots of proof and photos of everything being destroyed and will not send us new pieces. Absolutely disgraceful and disheartening. We have been customers for years and years it’s so awful to see this. We have lost hundreds of pounds on this order and they are stealing it and taking no accountability and giving us no proper refund or replacement. Avoid this company. Do not order from motel a miio.

For deliveries to customs-liable countries such as the UK, customs duties and import fees are handled by the buyer. This is outlined transparently in our Terms & Conditions and FAQs. That said, we’re genuinely sorry if this came as an unpleasant surprise.

We’re also very sorry that your order was damaged in transit. That should not happen, and it’s absolutely not acceptable. Of course, we arrange a refund in such cases if it hasn’t already been completed. Please note that at the moment we’re unfortunately unable to offer free replacement shipments to customs-liable countries, which is why a refund is the solution we can provide here.

Order cancelled from shop side because of delivery failure.

I've ordered several items from the shop during Black Friday, the order was damaged during shipping and sent back to the shop, without even getting to my hands(damage was found by shipping company and no delivery attempt was made), after that the shop decided to cancel the order from their side and refund me instead of sending goods again(they have the items in the shop still). I've asked to give me the same discount i got during black friday, they gave me much smaller discount and closed the case saying "We've done our best to support you" which is laughable because the only support i asked for is to fulfill the order for which i already paid.

Please Read as a Warning

I’m so incredibly disappointed with the customer service I have received from Motel a Miio and I hope you see this review as a warning before you order from them. I recently ordered a set of plates and bowls and when they arrived, I was stunned at how nice they were. However, one of the plates had arrived chipped and scratched and two others had physical divots in them, creating an uneven eating surface where your fork tines could catch. I understood that variations happen and we saw these for ourselves in other plates and bowls and liked them but these specifically mentioned are physical defects, from packaging or manufacturing. When I reached out to support, they did not offer to send replacements. Instead, they offered me a partial refund that would not even cover the cost to replace one plate from them. Their only other solution was to have me box and package everything back up and send it back to them. So, in order to get my money back I would have to spend money on a box and shipping materials to make sure they received everything in good shape while the customer never got it like that in the first place? This was also during Black Friday so there goes the opportunity to take advantage of sales at a more reputable company. All this because they could not send off three replacement plates.
