Outstanding company

I have worked with Blaine Tilley and most recently Alistair McMullan and can confidently say they are an absolute pleasure to work alongside.

Mistakes, delays and Cock ups

Ordered a hinge, selected the correct, specific configuration and paid. What was delivered was the wrong hinge and three days of arguing with sales reps who all insisted that I was wrong. I had to complain to a manager and explain quite basic terminology (thru-hole fixings are not the same as threaded fixing) before they admitted their mistake, admitted they had screwed up, didn’t have the correct item in stock but offered to send a replacement of a similar item…. 4 days later the replacements still haven’t arrived. I don’t think I’ll be ordering from them ever agai

Hi Thomas, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Unfortunately the product you bought online was not configured correctly resulting in you unknowingly buying a different product to what you thought you were. This also meant the sales team were seeing the same thing you were and this is the reason they were so sure there was a miscommunication somewhere along the way. The sales manager has greater access and is able to delve down deeper into a problem in our system, it was then that he discovered the problem was with our website. Apologies for this, the problem has now been fixed, sadly sometimes it takes real world testing for a problem to be found. Once the underlying problem had been found however, our sales manager upgraded your hinge free of charge to a stainless steel hinge with much better specifications. In situations where a product is replaced for any reason, where possible we always ask for the original product to be sent back to us. I believe this has added significantly to the delay you mention in your review and we will be looking into this to see how we can manage future scenarios in a more beneficial way for the customer.

The parcel should have been delivered…

The parcel should have been delivered on Friday 24th feb, for some reason it didn't turn up. We had an email stating it was now going to be delivered 27th Feb.
The courier tried to deliver 25th when no one was in. Now the parcel is stuck I their hub, I've no idea when it will now be delivered.

Once we are made aware of a courier failure we will act and this case we resent the same order using a different courier for a next day morning delivery (enhanced delivery service at our expense). We're more than happy to organise the return of an undelivered order and send out a new order at the same time, please just let us know in future :)

Giving 3 stars due to the fact that…

Giving 3 stars due to the fact that both orders I have placed previously, have had faults in some way. First order arrived with an empty box, recent order arrived with a damaged edge to the latch. Maybe another shipping supplier is necessary to prevent consistent damage, I have no issues with customer service from Metrol, just 2 bad experiences.

Having received a reply and contacted Metrol directly, they are sending a replacement item and claiming against the courier. Can’t fault the customer service, I would invest in bubble wrap to at least protect the items in a thin cardboard box.

Unfortunately we don't have a lot of control over goods when they leave our factory with the courier. We regularly carry out performance checks on couriers we are using to make sure we are getting the best service for our customers. We always try to send out orders with more than enough packaging to ensure they are safe in transit, however if you believe we have fallen short in this case please don't hesitate to get in touch to discuss further.

Incomplete order was sent

I ordered and paid for 3 hinges but only two were sent: I will now to have to wait another week for this to arrive. Also the (incomplete) order was delivered several days later than I expected.

Hello and thank you for leaving a review, good or bad reviews are vital to us and help us to improve the way we do things. On this occasion it appears to be a poor courier performance. We have launched an investigation with the courier (DX) however this delay will be due to an overload of parcels following the Royal Mail strike. As you can see from the tracking number the goods were dispatched on time but then rerouted by the courier, we have issued you a refund for the delivery as it did not end up being the service you paid for. I believe we have shipped out a replacement hinge for yourself too but if there is anything else we can do for you, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Couldn’t make the online ordering work

Couldn’t make the online ordering work. It only accepted 2 items when I needed 8.
I tried online telephone ordering but all lines were busy and so diverted to accounts. The female there took my details and intended passing it to sales. I got no response within the hour so tried the online help line. I was put on hold there so tried sales again and got through.
I placed the order with some doubts in my mind.

Some items on our website have a minimum order value such as AVMs and Wire Springs, this is £15 ex VAT and shipping. We do aim to advise the customer of this every step of the way once they are looking at these products on our website, however if we have missed a page for example please let us know. Exceptional service beginning with…

Exceptional service beginning with telephone staff through to factory. It began with requiring a pair of struts for my bed, hence within 2-3 days receiving these but due to my stupidness i incorrectly released gas without the mattress on, hence with it on would not stay up. i rang them and hence requesting them to be returned for re-gassing. Much to my surprise i received 3 days later fitted back and all well. thanks again for your excellent service and product.

Gas Struts for Keter plastic store box

Information and data on website for gas struts was perfect.
I needed replacement struts for a keter plastic tool store, bought elsewhere initially but they were the wrong diameter and the cylinder was too long/piston rod too short.
Metrol were a bit more expensive than other strut providers, but from the data I got the struts I needed (or close enough that they would work), and still half the price of new hinge setups from Keter.
From all the variations/add on eyelets and fixtures I got almost what I needed (I got the smallest eyelet available M6 but needed an M4, a 6mm HSS on the hinge will fix that).
Metrol don’t offer fixed/welded eyelets, but again, I’ll work with it.
The packaging was very robust; plastic banding round a well taped box opened to an almost excessive bubble wrapped pair of struts. All good stuff and hopefully further proof of a high quality product from a gold star company. It was also interesting to see the flyer in the box for their other offerings. Almost frustrated me to see they do a free design service! I may have contacted them if I knew it was an available thing before ordering what I did.
I’ll update after they’ve been in use for a few months to see how they’re holding up.
