Sad to say but after saving and getting a loan we purchased a car from motor trust in February last year. Since then it’s had a new battery, a new suspension spring, new clutch, subframe under radiator fitted and 2 new suspension parts. I feel as though I’ve been absolutely made a mug of. Won’t be going here again. Aa check… I don’t think so.worst experience ever. Such a shame didn’t think garages like this existed anymore!

Avoid them

Avoid them, absolutely shocking customer service an absolute nightmare to deal with.

Boasting about 3 years warranty but happy to sell faulty cars and ignore any requests to get it repaired.

Recent bought a car. Great price, great service, and they even had the car ready so I could drive away the same day. 3 year warranty is also a massive bonus!

Stay away. Terrible service from James (General manager)

Purchased a car last year. (Golf GTD)
The vehicle had a gearbox issue and after months of stress it was returned under warranty although they tried everything to avoid refunding me. Months on the vehicle/logbook was kept in my name and I received fines due to no insurance and tax although the vehicle was returned months prior.
James had agreed they were responsible for these fines however isn't willing to pay for them or even speak to me when I call.
He advised I would need to appeal with the court, which is a lengthy process and would also then mean I would have to attend court months down the line to plead our innocence, which would of course cause loss of earnings.
Stay well away from these guys!

Faulty cars and rubbish customer service.

Great showroom with tons of choice and…

NOTE: I havnt bought a car yet this review is just based on the dealership experience so far.

Great showroom with tons of choice and some are indoors which is even better, not many better used car showrooms around IMO - Best of all no pushy salesmen in my experience. The world has moved on from pushy sales tactics it really has and unfortunately when you are buying a car you still have the misfortune of having to deal with outdated 1980's style pushy salesmen with their smoke and mirrors in some dealerships which is just a bore and tedious it really is - so glad to say this place is not like that!

Outstanding courtesy

We were left to view cars without any pressure whatsoever. After all, with so many cars which would you choose to plug? Nathan was courteous throughout. The car we chose was well-presented when we went to pick it up. However, it was disappointing that the main battery still held very little charge after a 30 mile drive and needed immediate replacement, because it would not restart the engine.

To avoid!

I was initially excited to purchase my van as it was just what I had been looking for. I believed it to be in good condition until after some time when I realised that the cigarette lighter and other switches around the front console were not working. Also, when it rained, water was coming in through the back doors. I took it to a friend who is a mechanic and he found coffee inside these switches, and he managed to fix the backdoor so that rain was no longer entering the vehicle. He charged me £350 pounds for his time, out of hours. I have spoken with someone called Amelia from TrustReview a while back explaining everything that had happened and apparently someone was going to call me back in a couple of weeks but I never heard anything from anyone. I have tried many times to call this Amelia and left many messages but never heard anything back. I would like to get the money back that I paid out of pocket as I feel that these issues should not have occurred so soon after purchasing the van. I was unable to take the van to the original vendor as I live a long distance away. The fact that the company has refused to enter into dialogue and to offer some form of compensation is reprehensible and unprofessional. They are keen to sell vehicles but not so keen on after sales service.

Do not everyone buy from this company

Do not ever buy from this company. Avoid at all cost. Bought a car which had been sold as passing a full AAtest. Later found out it failed and on numerous things. After lots of stress, and complaining they finally paid to have repairs done. A year later and the car has had to have 2 tyres, the air-conditioning redone again, The oil cooler has had to be replaced. The expansion tank for the coolant sorted and now the timing wet belt and oil pump. The car is only 4 years old. If I was given the option to give the car back and have my money back I would not hesitate. But everybody knows they wont agree to that. They sell sub standard cars with lots of issues. They even tell you the car has passed all AA checks when it hasnt. But you dont actually get sent the report till weeks after your purchase. Do not ever buy from them

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS COMPANY

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS COMPANY: Purchased a Mercedes A Class in October 2024, having been told it has passed all checks and recently MOT’d, within a week several faults come up including the engine light. They “repaired” it, same thing occurs a month later, then it’s supposedly a software issue that the Mercedes garage have repaired again. Same issue again, car is basically undrivable and now they’re stating as it’s over 6 months, it’s my liability. They will do whatever they can to make a sale, knowing full well they sell dodgy cars. The staff are rude and management are no help. Do not buy a car off these scam artists

We are sorry to hear that you feel this way about your experience. As a dealership, we take all concerns seriously and always aim to resolve them in line with our legal obligations under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

When a customer purchases a vehicle, it is covered by a statutory 6-month period during which any fault that arises is presumed to have been present at the time of sale, unless proven otherwise. During this time, we have an obligation to repair, replace, or refund the vehicle, depending on the circumstances. Beyond this 6-month period, the burden of proof shifts, and it is the customer’s responsibility to demonstrate that the fault was present at the point of purchase.

In your case, repairs were arranged promptly on multiple occasions, including specialist intervention from a Mercedes garage, showing that we acted in good faith to resolve the issues raised. While we understand your frustration, once the 6-month statutory period has passed, our obligations are different, though we always strive to assist customers wherever reasonably possible.

We do not sell “dodgy” cars, and all vehicles undergo checks and preparation before sale. If you would like to discuss further support options, please contact our management team directly so we can review the situation again.

DONT BOTHER BUYING FROM THIS GARAGE

Going to keep this short but bought a car from this garage (Vauxhall Corsa) on finance the garage was recommend and the finance company’s preferred dealership. Viewed the vehicle all good, collected a week later and when I drove off the clutch went so they had to tow the vehicle back to the garage and told me they would sort it.
Replaced the clutch but when they delivered the car engine warning light was on!!! Told me to take it to a garage local to me and they would cover the cost which I did luckily it wasn’t anything major but besides the point! Around a week later the clutch went again!!!!! They came and collected and told me the clutch just needed bleeding so gave them the benefit of the doubt my thinking was it will work in my favour if I have a new clutch hopefully in the future it’s something I won’t need to worry about. How wrong was I!! Around a month later the clutch went again by this point I’d had enough and contacted my finance company to let them know I wanted to reject the vehicle.
I had to get my own diagnostic report and they would start the ball rolling.
They garage told me it was the master cylinder, I provided all evidence to the finance company and they’d contact the garage to arrange the vehicle going back to them.
Took 3 weeks for them to decide to collect it apparently they firstly refused. They then had the vehicle in their possession for another 3 weeks before saying there was nothing wrong with the vehicle it was just low on brake fluid and accused me of tampering with it! I’m no expert but it would take an absolute idiot to remove brake fluid and put themselves and others on the road at risk!! This would then mean either the vehicle was sold with little to no brake fluid which would then mean their so called AA inspection did not take place or like I was told there was an issue with the master cylinder which was then causing the brake fluid to leak as advised by the clutch specialist I took the vehicle to.
Finance company then had to send out an independent technician who would determine whether or not the repairs had not been done by the garage or if it was something I had done to the vehicle.
Obviously the technician confirmed failed repairs and luckily for me I managed to get all my money back plus expenses after being without a vehicle for over 12 weeks!! May I also had to chase them multiple times for my deposit back despite them having the vehicle, their money back and the v5.
So if you’re thinking of buying your next vehicle from this garage don’t bother I think the reviews speak for themselves!
Appreciate they originally fixed the vehicle however none of the issues should have happened in the first place!

We strongly refute the claims made in this review, which we consider to be misleading and factually incorrect. We have clear documentation and communication records that contradict many of the statements made.

At every stage, we acted promptly and in good faith to address the customer's concerns—including arranging multiple collections, repairs, and even allowing work to be carried out locally to minimize inconvenience. We did not at any point accuse the customer of tampering, but rather pointed out inconsistencies in the reported issues, which required further investigation before any conclusion could be reached.

Our vehicles undergo rigorous checks, including an AA inspection where applicable, and we remain committed to providing a high standard of service. We also worked with the finance company throughout this process and cooperated fully with all requests.

While we're disappointed this situation escalated despite our repeated efforts to resolve it, we stand by the quality of our service and the integrity of our team.

Biggest scammers ever

Biggest scammers ever! Bought a car from there that was meant to come with 2 keys and the idiots gave me key for a different car and when I went to tell them about it they refused to solve the situation even thought it’s their fault! A joke.

All vehicles are advertised with one key, as they are used and a second key cannot be guaranteed. While a second key was included in the bookpack, it does not belong to your specific car—it was simply included with the materials we received. As such, we cannot verify its authenticity or relevance to the vehicle. There was no intention to mislead; a second key is only considered a bonus if present and correct.

PLEASE DONT BUY A CAR FROM HERE

PLEASE DONT BUY A CAR FROM HERE, ONCE BOUGHT YOUR STUCK, YOU WILL NOT GET FOLLOW SUPPORT OR EVEN BASIC THINGS (LIKE A CAR WITH NO ISSUE)
FRAUDULENTLY SELLS CARS WITH ISSUES.

READ MY STORY

Please do not get engaged with these folks,
I got a finance through zuto to buy the car you are seeing in this picture ( a Vauxhall grandland x)
I was coming from Falkirk , Scotland all the way to Preston motortrust, on the day of collection , after payment was made from finance company is when I got to know that the car just had one key, not mentioned anywhere before that,
Now the highlight- when I walked into the compound a guy had his system connected to the car for diagnostics, he checked everything and we got in together into the office from where the car was parked,
I signed every damn document out in front of me during the course of that time I felt from the conversation that customer service was pathetic, maybe because it was a sold car!!!I honestly don’t remember that guys name, if I did I certainly would have said it here.
Then he handed me the only key of that car, asked me to contact tampons maybe for duplicate key ( a suggestion that I don’t require his help for)
After everything was done I came and started the car and saw that the service light was on,
I went back in and there was absolutely no surprise in his face when I mentioned the service light was on!! He definitely saw that when he had his computer connected to it prior to me coming, the he asked me to come again later , which I couldn’t cos I had traveled half way across the country to collect the car after agreeing to a date with these scammers. The only other suggestion was for me to go to a Vauxhall service centre near my house , for which they agreed they will pay,
They never bothered getting me an appointment , for which I called multiple times,
Finally when I found one, they took forever to go through the procedures of payment.( n I mean a looooot of phone calls and a lot number of days.
Even then the car was faulty
N I started paying finance for a car that was screwed and in the garage more than my house.

I UNDERSTAND CARS HAVE ISSUE
BUT THIS DEALER WILL WASH THEIR HANDS . IF YOU FACE AN ISSUE AFTER PURCHASING , your done for!!!!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we're truly sorry to hear that your visit and purchase did not meet expectations.

We appreciate the distance you traveled to collect the vehicle, and we regret that key information regarding the car—such as it having only one key and the service light being on—was not communicated more transparently before your arrival. That certainly isn’t the experience we aim to provide, and we understand your frustration.

We're also disappointed to hear about the delay and inconvenience you faced in trying to resolve the service issue after the sale. Our goal is to provide after-sales support that is as reliable as the sales process itself, and it's clear from your feedback that we fell short.

Your comments have been shared with the relevant teams to help improve our communication, transparency, and customer service moving forward. If you're still facing any unresolved issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly—we’re here to assist and would like to do what we can to put things right.

Sold me a car which I consider not fit…

Sold me a car which I consider not fit for purpose. It supposedly had an AA report which I wasn't given and it had a air bag warning light on and a rusty air suspension pipe which failed the day after I took delivery. The dealers recommended garage couldn't fix the warning light so I had to get an auto electrician to fix it and the dealer said they would reimburse me. It took 3 months to get the suspension repaired during which the dealer gave me a car which I found out later had an expired MOT and no road tax. The dealer also said they would send off the log book to DVLA so they would reimburse the remaining 11 months of road tax on my trade in but they didn't and I only found out when the DVLA said I still own the traded vehicle 10 months later.

I have not been reimbursed for the air bag repair (as promised) or the lost road tax or given the AA report.
I see the reply from Motortrust. I have all the evidence in correspondence trying to resolve the dispute but they have not given me the AA report or reimbursed the repair for the air bag warning which they promised to do. If they were a member of the Car Ombudsman I would have taken it up with them after no success trying to get information and outstanding money from them.

We strongly refute the claims made in this review, which we believe to be inaccurate and misleading. The vehicle in question was sold in good faith, fully inspected, and any concerns raised at the time of sale were addressed appropriately.

We have clear records relating to the condition of the car, the AA report, and all agreements regarding repairs and reimbursement. We find it disappointing that this version of events has been publicly shared without context or direct follow-up with us to resolve any outstanding matters.

While we welcome honest feedback, we cannot allow defamatory or false statements to go unchallenged. If the reviewer has genuine concerns, we encourage them to contact us directly so we can clarify the facts and take appropriate steps—however, we reserve the right to take further action if false or damaging claims continue to be made.

First and last time I used this…

First and last time I used this company.
Bought the car a couple a months ago.
The car failed the MOT

Repair immediately (major defects):
Anti-lock braking system warning lamp indicates an ABS fault (1.6 (b))
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
Offside Front Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint has slight play (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Nearside Front Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (1.1.14 (a) (ii))
Offside Front Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (1.1.14 (a) (ii))

Before bought the car i spoak with Ian and he told me if the car failed the MOT he give me his word, everything will be fully repaired to the standard.
Great news everything got fully repaired apparently and passed the MOT,but the question is where is the invoice of all job done to the car include full service.
Till today still not invoice when I suppose receive the document by post,I been back in forward from the car sales and even today I got told by staff to go and collect it to the local garage where the car originally got repaired. Now I been to the local garages but them don't have the invoice because apparently got send to your company.
Going forward the car is totally fine look like got fully repaired but without proof or invoice.

Hi Mr. Chirco,

We’re sorry to hear you’re unhappy, but let’s clarify a few points.

You were assured that any MOT failures would be fully repaired before the car left our hands — and that’s exactly what happened. The vehicle passed its MOT after the necessary work, which we covered. It’s disappointing that this has been overlooked in your review.

That said, we completely agree: the delay in providing your invoice isn’t acceptable. You shouldn’t have had to chase this, and we apologise for the inconvenience.

We’re arranging for the full documentation to be sent out immediately.
Please get in touch with us at sales@motortrutuk.co.uk with your preferred email or postal address so we can resolve this properly.
