Very poor bank

Very poor bank. They take 8 business days to clear cheques, through app. (Which is only way). Even when they are government cheques. Customer service won't help with this. Their slogan is "where banking feels good.", which is very untrue, just see their reviews....terrible bank. Chose Simpli or Tangerine....stay away from Motus Bank.

Also, you can't put them on Google wallet. They are way behind the times.

I would have given them a zero or worse If it was an option.

Motus bank is terrible

I closed a secure line of credit with them, quoted 300 fee, I was actually charged 400. No I didn't pay it with another one of credit so the fee should have been 300 not 400. I still can't get a bill from the closing of the account for the 400 bill. I don't understand how a company charges without distributing a bill? I have called 6x without exaggeration to dispute the 300 dollar charge and to receive a proper bill. I am discussed with this bank. I hope the 7th call resolves this menial issue. I also asked for a supervisor multiple times. The representatives tell me they cannot do that. Please do yourself a favor and steer clear !

Stay as far away as you can

My experience with this bank is as follows:

Opened account and funded it myself from my other bank.
Started using the money to pay for expenses, first transfer went well the second was blocked and that’s when the fun started.
I called they said all good the transfer should go through, 5 min later I tried to login to check on status, I found my account was frozen.
Long story short because here it gets real messy, after about +20 calls over the span of 20 days here’s what happened.

They went behind my back and started digging and calling my other financial institutions, my other bank that the transfer came from was frozen, the account of the person I sent the transfer to and was blocked also his account got frozen.
At the end when they didn’t find anything they etransfered whatever funds I had left and closed my account.

After this it is up to you if you want to call them a bank any longer, as for me I don’t want to spell profanities here.

1 star is a very generous rating

1 star is a very generous rating. These guys hold funds and freeze funds at will. They make transfers in and out of your accounts without authorization. They force your accounts into overdraft status to force you into paying NSF fees. These guys are absolute criminal!

Useless and ridiculous online application process

What is the point of submitting a digital photocopy of your drivers license (both front and back) and doing a friv video to “confirm” your identity when all of a sudden you get an email from them saying that you have to go to your nearest canada post office AND PHYSICALLY SUBMIT YOUR photo I.D. to the post office clerk for a “final confirmation“??

so motus, not only has my information been compromised online but you want TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY BY FORCING ME TO DRIVE TO MY NEAREST CANADA POST OFFICE AND SUBMIT MY DRIVERS LICENSE THERE TOO??

RIDICULOUS!!

They lost my confidence in them immediately.

Try to open an account. The application kept randomly restarting. Finally get to the next step of putting in my personal information, and it keeps telling me my phone number is invalid. But I still got the text, and verified the number. I call customer service and the agent didn't have a single clue what the application process is, and just kept suggesting I restart my device and try again later without any insights as to why it was rejecting my number.

For an online-only bank, this is a huge disgrace to what can be achieved. And the complete lack of customer support? Yeah, I'll be going elsewhere for my banking needs.

Awesome look for a credit union

Great look for a credit union app and website look like they aren’t out dated like some others. Customer service appears to be good overall. I wish they had a debit master or Visa card and Apple Pay compatibility, I would have to seriously consider them as a contender for my top pick. Hopefully someday they’ll get that and a few other features till then keeping them as a spare account.
