Horrible short term disability policies and a borderline scam. Customer service was a disorganized mess. I tried to file a claim and had to jump through so many hoops WHILE INCAPACITATED that I finally just gave up on receiving my benefits. I asked FOUR TIMES for my actual physical policy to be mailed to me and never received it. Do not use this company!

I was interested in a reverse mortgage. Marsha Colantino was my first contact. She is very knowledgeable about reverse mortgages and explained things for me on my level of understanding. Marsha made the process very simple. Even after I received the reverse mortgage she has answered all questions that I have had. Marsha is a valuable asset to Mutual of Omaha.
This company is worthless there is a reason they’re strong financially they don’t pay. A sales lady from there sold me the policy on my mother she asked all the medical questions and such. I told her that the only condition my mom had at the time was non insulin dependent diabetes and she said that’s fine, she never asked anymore questions. Well my mom passed away ONLY 6 hours before the policy was 2 years old, so they had to do a full review of her medical records. They refused to pay because she had diabetes with neuropathy and they said the neuropathy wasn’t disclosed. I wasn’t asked about that at all just if she had diabetes, heart trouble or cancer. Neuropathy is just nerve damage it doesn’t kill anyone. The policy was bought in July of 2021 and she died in July of 2023. She died from cancer which wasn’t diagnosed til over 1 year after buying the policy. But they refused to pay because she was diagnosed with neuropathy in 2016. Absolutely worthless insurance

It appears they think of themselves as physicians as they choose to deny, deny and deny medications and dosages as if they know better than your doctor what medications and dosages you should have to treat any specific diagnosis. I Only a couple more months and I will be able to dump them for a better insurer. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE! Do yourself a favor and search elsewhere for coverage.

Claim service is totally horrible. Waited on hold 45 minutes on Thursday. Called back on Friday, but couldn't make the claim until Monday. So here we sit at 9:12, still on hold since 9 am............ but they will be with us shortly. LOL Too bad they're not educators so we could have them written up!
As an advisor, this has been the worst experience for my client. I will never put another piece of business through this company. Not even one star....
Worst customer service I have ever spoken with. Along with anthony the manager... 2 customer service hung up, and then the manager. guess its time to change companies if it is this way.
How will my beneficiaries ever get help if I die. Probably find a way not to pay them the money for me...
I sent an email 4 days ago no call or email

I would like to share an experience that i had with
Chris Sullivan..Managing Director..Mutual Of Omaha.
On Friday, July 7, 2023 at 04:19:59 PM PDT,
Chris Sullivan e-mailed me the following.
I’m still working on getting you paid, there’s been some unforeseen glitches in our system, I appreciate your patience.
On July 7, i also received an email from Shawna Melville, the recruiting manager for California, Concord office.
She stated that Mutual Of Omaha were now processing a check for $500, due me.
I received the direct deposit on July 11. .. I was originally promised the money on June 9TH.,by Chris Sullivan, managing director ,
in the Concord office. His prior communication with me was on June 22.
I'm sure this is not the way Mutual Of Omaha conducts business.
I would like a letter of apology from Chris Sullivan.
Thanks for your attention to the above matter.
I remain,
Frank Strom.
"Your doctor says you have a short term disability that will last 6 to 12 months. We'll approve you one week of benefits, but that's it."
What's the point of insurance if you can't use it when you need it?
It was ok in the beginning but then after a year I wanted loan o was told I could get one after a year. Then I was told I have to wait 3 years. My agent was helpful in the beginning but because he was having issues in his life he stopped communicating with me and said he would call and didn't claimed he cares about his clients but to me he was being selfish. Business is business leave the family stuff at home. I won't say his name on here. He knows who he is. I canceled my policy. No one would help me.
Horrible! My husband has our dental coverage through them and fir the past 2 months, my dentist has been struggling to get payment for a crown the fell out. A new crown was needed due to it having a hole in it.
The claim was denied because apparently, they do not do electronic claim submissions. Then it was denied it for not providing the age of the original crown and a third time for not providing the date the original crown was put in.
My dentist even got them on the phone and they told her that we weren't in their system. What????? We were in them when they paid the claim for the xrays and I can even see our information as being current through their online system. What are they even talking about?
RUN AWAY FAST!
I will be looking at reporting this issue to the insurance commission. They're ok with taking our money for the insurance plan but refuse to pay out for things that they say are covered.
If there was a way to give zero stars, this group deserves it! Filed a claim on May 5th 2023. Was sent the forms to fill out in an email. Don't know how to send the back in email so I sent them US Mail. Took only 3 days from my house to them in Omaha, NE. Supposedly my first check for short term disability was sent to me on the 25th of May 2023. 3 weeks later, no first check. Called them and was told it takes 7 days to get it and that my second benefit check was mailed the 1st of June 2023. Neither check is here 3 weeks later!!! If there was a problem with the first one, the second one should be here! No way 2 checks were misrouted by the mail! Lies and decption!! Typical insurance company!

Overly agressive salesman and/or United did not disclose the large escalation monthly premiums after a few years in my of a United of Omaha Universal Life Policy.

If I could give zero stars I would
Deny, deny, deny. That is all they do. They keep asking for more information for a claim. Then deny it for something they have already received. Now they have denied saying it wasn't medically necessary although two Dr. opinions say differently. I will be filing a claim with the Insurance commission claims board. Like anyone would go through gum surgery for the fun of it.

They only approve base metal crowns after a root canal despite knowing that this is rarely done and looked upon as an old method. Many dentists will not even do these.
This leaves the patient to pay for the "upgrade" to ceramic crowns themselves. This would be like a medical insurance only paying for some old fashioned surgery as a loophole to save themselves money and not cover their patients.
This is downright unethical to intentionally only cover an old method. Would avoid budget companies like them when choosing dental insurance for your company or self.
Update: they contacted me and confirmed that they only cover the cheaper outdated metal crowns. Avoid this company if you have a choice.

Was given a list of "in-network" providers filtering specifically for periodontists. The list I obtained from the provider search on their site is GARBAGE. On almost every call I placed, I was told the provider listed isn't at the practice anymore, that they do not have a periodontist, that they were not in network despite being on the list, but most often these providers don't even answer the phone or respond to voice messages. Called customer service and to be fair the agent made an effort to assist but there was nothing she could do but submit a complaint. TERRIBLE. AWFUL. SHAMEFUL.
I signed up for the dental plan. Wss suppose to pay for 2 cleanings a year. Mutual of Omaha paid our dentist 65 dollars. And I was stuck with a bill for 220. I had paid more in premium that what I had to now pay my dentist. I canceled the plan and will put that money aside for my next cleaning.
Zero customer service! They are stuck in the 80’s. Let me list the ways:
1) No ability to auto-pay premiums for long-term care insurance.
2) No ability to electronically pay premiums. Must write checks and mail.
3) They encourage the use of fax - first option on the recorded phone line.
4) Inability to actually talk to a person. No option to talk to a rep when you call their number.
5) The customer service line hangs up on you if you select zero when trying to reach a rep. It stated “It appears you are having difficulty deciding which option to select. Please call again when you are ready.” click.
So I had the cancer heart and stoke on myself and my wife a while back . I had to have emergency open hear surgery . Double bypass. I had $20k in coverage all they paid was $5,000 really. Took them about 3 months to pay It . But they want their money in time every time. Smh. So later on down the road we ran into some financial difficulties and had to let it drop off. Called a few days ago to reinstate mine. Great no problem got it done. Well I called to get my wife’s back up and going they want to talk to the wife to get her ok to do so. What the hell it’s an insurance policy not signing for a freaking loan. They are a joke. My local agent is great and has done all he can. But the office itself is sh..!!They do take the sweet ass time to pay out but again want their money now!! You can not win with them. You and me are the little man we don’t matter. I truly hate this company with a passion and they are a rip off!!
