MXRoute is probably the best value of any service that I pay for. I moved from Google Apps for Domains after they threatened to start charging so that I could reduce my reliance on Google. I picked MXRoute because I run email services for my family and also have multiple hobby project domains. Most services charge by the domain or even by the account, but MXRoute only limits by total storage used.
You do need to be comfortable with basic email and DNS concepts. This is not a service trying to replace Yahoo Mail or something. But if you're thinking about FastMail, Migadu, etc., I looked into all of them and chose MXRoute. Perfect for family admins.
MxRoute has been an absolute game-changer for my domain's email management. Their user-friendly setup and interface made the transition seamless, catering to users of technical backgrounds. What truly sets MxRoute apart is its unparalleled reliability. I've experienced zero downtime since switching, ensuring my emails always reach their destination promptly.
Their budget-friendly, transparent pricing plans make it accessible to users of all sizes, with no hidden fees.
In conclusion, MxRoute offers a reliable, efficient, and cost-effective email solution for domains. If you're in search of a service that delivers peace of mind and top-tier performance, look no further. MxRoute earns its well-deserved 5-star rating.

I trust MX Route, because I see they are proactive in creating the best email service for small businesses (speaking for my small business) and because they are awesome at customer support. Please keep up with the blog as you all have, it is full of helpful info and helps maintain my confidence that the team is actively looking to improve, solve issues and overall extend knowledge as experts.
Moving on, this service is for those who hate spending money at these greedy corporations while they sit on billions in profits and hurt the little businesses. This service is also for those that can be civil, not those with a pitchfork ready to blame the service because they didn’t want to read some instructions (seriously).
These 1star customers do not want to take the time to read very important materials, nor attempt to understand something potentially new to them despite it being very important to their business like emails: full of complexities and compliance involved. No, they want to get frustrated or upset - you’re running a business, get a grip that either you’re responsible or you hire someone to be responsible.
I support this business, especially because we align on our stance towards crappy customers. If you cannot be a decent nor reasonable adult, you do not deserve my service. I tip my hats off to MX Route for being one of the few to not tolerate disrespect, intentional ignorance and hate.
Been a customer since 2018. I've never had any issues, and it's evident that Jarland genuinely cares about his customers. I prefer this significantly over faceless black-box corporations.
I wouldn't recommend this service if your intention is to send marketing or mass emails, as the founder is very anal about spam— which is an excellent aspect for personal or direct-communication email. It reduces the likelihood of your emails ending up in spam folders!
So, it's essential to choose the right tool for the job. If you aim to send mass or marketing emails (even if they're not spam) to large email lists, I'd suggest a different service.
However, if you're looking for an affordable service to send direct or personal emails, MXroute is the best choice for you!
I'm a relatively new user of mxroute.com and now have 2 independent server accounts. I'm not new to email and post office management, both with traditional RFC protocols and with Exchange. This past week I've been deep into MXroute setup and configuration to take over the 2 dozen GoDaddy email products and accounts I just cancelled. The transition to MXroute has been smooth, the designated servers are responsive, and all the features, controls and tweaks I needed were available. I've not yet needed to open a ticket/case for an issue (which also says something positive) in re-establishing those email accounts serving 6 different domains. I was especially gratified with the smooth interoperation with clients on a variety of client OSes - Thunderbird on Win11, Mail on ipadOS, Mail on IOS, K-9 Mail on Android. (I know that's the point of RFCs; the absence of that interoperation was one of several drivers for my leaving GoDaddy and its Exchange implementation.) My only negative thus far is that DNS checkers on my domains report the absence of reverse lookup resolution for the MXrouting postoffice and transport servers. On the plus side, ready, integrated access to DKIM stanzas for each domain and SSL certs are strong positives. Overall, I find MXroute to be a well-conceived, well-designed, and well-implemented postoffice facility. It specifically provides a very workable solution for my particular challenge of managing a few (2-8) mailboxes within a number of different Internet domains.
I've been in the internet software business since 1996. I have seen the good, the bad, and the downright ugly.
I just signed up with MXroute to move the email of all my personal domains. The system they have setup is top-notch! Same goes for their support.
I ran into a DNS propagation issue and my support ticket was answered quickly even tough it was a Saturday.
Bottom line is I'm impressed with how everything is working and how refined their system is - my 5 star rating is well deserved.
Also, ignore the few 1-star reviews here. They are from SPAMMERS who had their accounts rightfully (and thankfully) terminated.
I've been with MXroute since August 2021 and I have to say they have been a flawless email provider since I joined. Their setup guides were great and I was setup with my 3 domains really quickly.
MXroute seems like it has a very small team managing everything. Suspended our account, then reinstated it and then terminated our account, all under 24 hours.
The owner is petulant.
Accused us of lying when it was his on lack of understanding on what had happened in our case.

Migrated from another provider and setup in 15 min. Flawless experience so far, would definitely recommend.
If it happened to us, it can happen to you too. I don't normally write reviews, even if I have a poor experience, but since I used these reviews in deciding to buy this service, I want to warn others before buying.
This person's incorrect assessment of the situation and unwillingness to look into the details caused us many hours of unplanned weekend work and jeopardized the livelihoods of our clients and team.
The founder, who does support on the weekends, terminated our account.
Normally a founder would be the kind of person to look into the details of the situation and make an informed decision. Not in this case.
In short, they accused of us spamming. Claimed our 'spammy subject lines' were enough evidence of spam, and terminated our account with no advance warning or option to verify any details. I'll paste in some of the emails for evidence.
I removed both parties names for privacy.
My 1st appeal email:
My reply to your account termination email was not posted to the ticket that was used to send that to us. As you can see on our account, we bought the lifetime plan. If you look at our sending history, you'll see we have never spammed. We have several anti-spam filters in place on our platform to stop users from being able to use it to spam people.
Please investigate the issue.
Our clients use a tool on our website to email their own clients to request reviews. These emails are going to people they know, have done business with, and have permission to email. Sometimes the clients submit batches of their clients, so dozens of these emails to request reviews could be sent at once. We've been doing this for years, and ever since we've been using MxRoute. There's never been an issue before. So why is it an issue now and if there is an issue, why not discuss a solution with us instead of terminating our account?
It would be appreciated if you treated us as clients, and not default to assume we're spammers. We go out of our way to stop spam on our platform. If somehow, a user of our platform was able to spam someone, and that person reported it as spam, we'd sincerely appreciate your help in resolving that.
As you noted in your termination notice, we use SendGrid to send transactional emails and email campaigns. We abide by the unsubscribe groups we have setup and have a dedicated IP with SendGrid to ensure we don't get our email mixed up with blacklisted IPs. We go out of our way to keep our IP clean.
As you know, terminating our email is a major interruption to our business. Please re-instate it immediately.
You can call me directly.

"Name Removed, will you do me a quick favour..."
"Name Removed, did you get my last email?"
I know spam when I see it. Multiply those exact email subjects by however many names they found and populated their lists with, up to and including beauties like this:
"Client A, will you do me a quick favour..."
Look what you do outside of our platform isn't something I can even comment on, but the moment whatever you're doing causes me to send several hundred pieces of trash like that to a Google hosted mail account, you are threatening every customer on our platform and my livelihood, and I'll react exactly as if that's what you're doing because it's merely the fact of the matter that it is.
My Reply:
I see. So all you did is look at the subject line and decided it's spam?
They're template emails. They're all the same subject by design. We've been doing this since the beginning of having our mail at MXRoute. How many spam complaints have you received since we setup our account at MXRoute?
The test ones are internal tests. It's not spam. Surely spammers aren't the only ones who test their email systems.
Please have a manager contact me.

Okay Karen. Founder here. I know spam when I see it. Go gaslight someone else.
** Note, I'm not Karen. I'm pretty sure that was intended as an insult.
My Reply:
Ok, well I just wanted to let management know this is going on and they'll have to deal with the consequences.
Decide for yourself if you can trust this person with your business email.

I was looking for an alternative to host my custom domain when Google threatened to take away my legacy G Suite email. I moved early and have not looked back. The setup was easy and the little bit of support I needed was spot on. I have three domains with multiple email accounts.
Thanks so much and keep up the good work!
Long time small email Administrator with hMailServer and found the occasional maintenance and necessity of outsourcing spam filtering to be more drain on my time and expense than paying someone else to do it.
MXroute pricing is extremely fair (sane) and based on storage needs, not user accounts. This is a self-help service for those that are technically inclined and can figure it out on their own with help from documentation or asking questions from the internet / friends.
The service does what it's supposed to do - it hosts your email, and does so reliably and without you needing to maintain and update it. There's a decent management UI, and even various webmail options for access from a browser. Set it up once, pay your annual fees, and you're set - email just works and you can move on with your life focusing on more fun stuff.
I recently decided to change to MXroute after a few issues with my previous Mail hosting provider. I was a bit scared as I read in the past that the owner has a "bad" mood with clients. To be honest, as a developer, I just want a reliable service, and if some problems arise, I will be ready to correct and solve them. I don't need someone that is always polite and doesn't solve problems. I don't do a cold mailing or promotional newsletters with my corporate email (in reality it's high risk for anyone, suggest not to do so!) and I am happy that they care for the Ip's reputation. Coming back to the service:
-Configuration was easy peasy, just read the DOCS
-I had a small bug "issue", opened a ticket, and had a simple and clear reply, all good
-Email works flawlessly, couldn't be happier
Signed for a 3/yrs price and hope the service will keep improving.
Will it have some issues in the future sometimes? Sure, Facebook, Amazon, Google, and Apple also have sometimes issues, but I'm sure the team behind will be ready to tackle and resolve them.
Buy with confidence, but one last thing:
READ THE DOCS!
MXroute is a great email hosting solution. I use their service for a couple of years where I host several accounts for 5 different domain names I own. Only once had an issue which was dealt immediately and effectively.
Also, I want to mention their focus on providing the best deliverability. You just need to be a responsible user, follow some simple guidelines and in return you get an excellent service.
Migrated from Google Workspace, and don't intend to go back after using this service for 6 months. Solid since day one, knowledgeable and fast support/ownership. If you can follow directions and aren't afraid to do a little of your own troubleshooting this is definitely a service to consider.
Been using them for a little over a year, absolutely rock-solid service with 100% deliverability. Nothing comes close for the price and flexibility offered
Simply a fantastic email provider with a bluntly transparent way of doing business. Reliable, private, and transparent are all that I want in an email service, and MXRoute fits those requirements seamlessly.
So grateful for the service provided by the team at mxroute.

My email has been rock solid since moving over to MxRoute in May 2020. There was one outage a few days ago, and that was fixed within hours (on a weekend even!). I now have four domains hosted there, and they all Just Work. This service is perfect for a Mom and Pop type business or hobby site (like mine). It's not appropriate for spamming or mass sending of hundreds (or more) of messages. And the site is very clear about what type of messages should be sent and what the limits are.

Since half of August a very happy customer of MXroute!
If you follow their (awesome) guides and the welcome email nothing can go wrong and you're guaranteed that your mail will end up at the recipient.
I still wish I subscribed earlier!

I've used MXRoute for around 5 years now. Always a pleasure. In that 5 years, I had my first service outage last night. I submitted a ticket, and within 30 minutes they'd had it resolved and my email was back online.
Super impressed with the service, reliability, and responsiveness of the tech team. Special thanks to Albert Lento of the support team!
Edit: Here's an update 3 years later, MXRoute is still fantastic and I use it for multiple clients. Thanks again MXRoute team.
