Extremely Poor Bolton Council Tax Service

Bolton Council Tax Department,

Very disappointing experience with Bolton Council. My Council Tax issue has been ongoing since September 2025 and is still not resolved despite multiple emails, phone calls, and even visiting the Town Hall in person.

I paid £949 on 29 January 2026, which staff confirmed cleared my account. However, on 11 March 2026 my account suddenly showed £934.08 due again. I also received threatening letters about a summons even though I never received a proper bill or email notification.

I have spent nearly one hour on the phone trying to fix this issue, only to be told that my account has still not been updated.

This level of service from a public authority is unacceptable. Residents should not have to chase the council for months to correct what appears to be their internal error.

Scam

Scam - you can do for free what they offer such as changing address on TV licence.

Currently pursuing options to reclaim my money as they have breached Consumer Rights act and Consumer Contract Act

Scam

Con, charging admin fee for services which are free. Asked for my money back, and if done receive will dispute payment with bank. Reported as fraud to UK nsc website.

Total SCAM!!

Total SCAM!!! Accidentally clicked on the google link instead of the official TV licence site. Didn’t realise and paid £16.50 to change my address. Outrageous as I found out it is free to change your TV licence address & takes no longer to complete the online form as it does on this scam website.

I messaged My Council to ask them to cancel but so far no response. Now to try and get my money back… AVOID AVOID AVOID
