Brilliant concept fussy eater
I absolutely love the idea behind Grub Club! My dog has a chicken allergy, so finding a good alternative protein source is always a priority for us, and insect protein is a brilliant idea.
The customer service was great, and the introductory offer made it really affordable to give it a try. She absolutely loved the treats! Unfortunately, she’s a very fussy dog and refused to touch the "All Day Buffet" food.
Even though the main food wasn't a hit for her picky palate, I really appreciate the brand, the service, and the quality of the treats. Definitely worth trying if you have a dog with allergies!

Good for dogs with allergies
Reasonable price for a good quality food without all the fillers and additives. I like that there are wet and dry options so I can vary my dogs meals. Easy to adjust the subscription and delivery is fast.

Pricey but good!
This food has been great for our sensitive boy, his skin is loads better and he no longer smells! The service is great and the subscription makes it very easy to manage. Only thing I've noticed is he poops loads! Like 5/6 a day! Consistency isn't a problem, just the amount, and he's only a bulldog so not that big in the grand scheme. It's also a bit pricey but I'll pay it because it works! Would recommend!

My dogs eat it well enough but not seeing any benefit for the price.
My dogs eat it well enough, but after 3 weeks I see only two changes.
1. Vast amounts of poo, probably 3 times or more the amount I was getting on raw or tinned Butchers. After their morning poo it looks like someone let loose a baby elephant. I may need to carry bin bags instead of poo bags. This indicates a lot of indigestible filler, like potato, and unnecessary carbs.
2. My male GSD has sore and inflamed skin around the rear of his belly and inner thighs. The most he has ever had before is itchy paws at the start of the season. Coincidence, possibly
No change in coat condition, energy level etc.
I have stopped feeding it.
Once the inflammation clears up we will use up the other 6kg bag and see if it reoccurs. But wont be buying any more, there seems to be no benefit to justify the cost. Perhaps if you have a dog with food allergies this is a novel protein that will help, it is certainly no benefit to a dog on raw, decent tinned or decent cold pressed kibble.

We're sorry to hear the experience hasn't been a positive one for your dogs, particularly the skin irritation on your GSD. That's understandably concerning, and we think your plan to reintroduce and monitor is a really sensible approach. If the inflammation does return, that would be useful information, and we'd love the chance to help you work through it if you're open to it.
On the stool volume, it's really common to see a noticeable increase when moving from raw or wet food to a dry diet, largely because of the difference in fibre and moisture content between the two formats. The good news is that this usually settles down once the gut microbiome has had time to adjust to the new diet, which can take anywhere from a few weeks to around six weeks for some dogs. If you'd like to chat through what you were seeing, we'd be happy to take a closer look at portion sizes and whether anything could be adjusted to help things along.
You make a fair point at the end of your review, and we'd agree that insect protein really comes into its own for dogs with food sensitivities where conventional proteins are causing problems.

My dogs hated this food.
My dogs struggled eating this food to start off with. After 2 months of persistence they completely stopped eating. I have had no choice but to move them into a different food as they were losing lots of weight.
I have two small dogs, they found the dried food too big and hated the wet food as it doesn’t have any texture and completely smooth.
I have moved on to Wainwrights insect food as the kibble is much smaller and the wet food has more texture to it. They love it and I’ve had empty bowls morning and night for three days. In fact I’ve never seen my dogs eat so much all in one sitting.

Hi Teea - sorry to hear that your dogs didn't take to their new Grub as well as you'd liked. Our current dry food range is sized for all breeds but sometimes for very small pups, our customers find it easier to soften the food with some warm water or crush up into slightly smaller pieces.
In terms of the Wainwrights insect food, I'm glad they are enjoying it. It is a very different formula, with only 4% insect. It also has Maize Gluten Meal as a top 3 ingredient so it's worth keeping an eye on for sensitive pups :)

Oscar is so much happier
My boy Oscar was always getting diarrhoea, getting me up in the night several times, it was really getting to me, Since being on this food I’m sleeping all night, huge bonus. And his poos are perfect, easy to pick up and he sleeps better and he seems happier

Allergies
We switched our dog to insect only food due to her rubbing her backside along the floor even tho she didn’t have a gland problem. The vet suggested it may be an allergy causing her to do that and it turns out she was right. No problems now, she’s been in this food for years

That's brilliant! The scooting can be such a tricky one to get to the bottom of, so it's great that your vet picked up on the allergy connection. That first solid poo moment is such a relief, especially after six months of struggling! We're so glad the All-Day Buffet made such a quick difference to her gut. Frenchies can have really sensitive tummies, so that's a brilliant sign.
On the scratching coming back, it's really common for skin issues to have more than one trigger. Food sensitivities and environmental allergies can overlap, so even when diet is sorted, things like pollen, grass, or dust mites can still cause flare-ups, particularly at certain times of year. It might be worth chatting with your vet about whether there's a seasonal or environmental element alongside the food sensitivity.

Very happy customer
I have a regular subscription to the All Day Buffet for my dog and couldn't be happier with the service. Delivery is always reliable, and whenever I've needed to contact Grub Club, I've received a prompt and helpful response. Most importantly, my dog loves the food and eats every meal. She looks healthy, happy, and is thriving. What's not to like? I would definitely recommend Grub Club to other dog owners.
