Shocking Customer Service!

My 8 year old son received a gift for his Birthday (a Police Helicopter) building bricks (Lego imitation), however, the bricks do not fit together and just keep falling off! I reached out to the customer service department to get a replacement as it could just be faulty, only to be told that they cannot assist as I am not the purchaser!! I have the product and bar codes/packaging etc. but they are unwilling to help. I cannot return, get a refund or a replacement - now left with a very upset and disappointed little boy!
