The app issued me the same ticket twice…
The app issued me the same ticket twice and as that ticket is non-refundable, I have to bear the cost of the error completely by myself. TrainPal's measly "20p off each journey"-level discounts could never compensate for the risk of this happening again. Their AI support was sympathetic but unhelpful. I will never use this app again, I suggest no-one else does.

It would be literally impossible for a ticket vending machine to sell me two tickets by mistake.
TrainPal has sold me two tickets by mistake yet they will not refund me for the duplicate.
TrainPal is therefore worse than a ticket vending machine, so I will not be using it in the future and encourage everyone else to beware TrainPal.

Ai Customer service
Customer service does not exist. From my experience its all Ai. They purposely make the app hard to navigate for refunds and delays. The pricing is also comparible to the rail operator in your area. I have had nothing but trouble with trainpal and recommended everone to avoid.

Automatically added a non-existent friends and family railcard to my booking which made it effectively worthless as I was travelling alone. Had to replace the ticket for the return journey. No support from customer support. Avoid.

Wouldn’t give me refund for ticket, even though under National Railway rules in exceptional circumstances, such as heat waves, reduced service timetables, extended journey times, alternative routes, National Railway rules state that ticket providers have to give a full refund if you decide not to travel. Will not be following up with financial ombudsman.

Poor customer service
I booked tickets from Hatfield to Barnstaple. The Paddington to Exeter St David’s train only had 5 carriages instead of the 8 it should have had. My daughter, her small baby and her travelling companion had to stand nearly the entire way. All seat reservations had been cancelled. I reserved seats so that they could be comfortable and so that my daughter could feed her baby easily while seated. Then I was unable to claim compensation. I won’t use Trainpal again and have deleted the app!

Good app
Good app, I like it. But a few things could improve greatly.
When I want to save my ticket to the Apple wallet please give me one button to save both tickets, just like TrainLine.com.
Secondly, when I save to Apple wallet the sequence of buttons inverts, firstly the button you need is the top one then on the following page it’s the bottom one, why, that’s just confusing.
Thirdly, stop giving me adverts at the exact time I simply need to confirm and book my ticket. I know it sounds attractive to give me an ad when you know I’m on the app but when I’m desperately trying to just buy the ticket and go that’s the very last time I need an annoying ad to appear ! By all means give me ads other times just not exactly when I’m booking.
Fourthly, when a train is cancelled it seems you completely remove it from the app offering. That’s confusing for people who catch a regular train, makes me go to another app to check. Why not show the train in the schedule but noted that it’s cancelled.
Otherwise a good app
