I was lied to from the get go

I was lied to from the get go. I enrolled with CNM and was told that if i didn’t enjoy the course I can leave whenever only to finish first year (and hate it)and then get told i’m stuck in a 3 year enrollment having to pay the extra 2 years (over 10k) regardless if i continue or not.

My first year was a SHAMBLES. They got all of our exam dates wrong, gave misinformation regarding the course and what we needed to do and on top of all of that covid hit and we were forced to have zoom lessons on a laptop at home with NO discount considering I paid for an education in class. I’ve now got serious health conditions and am an end of life carer for a family member, i earn little to no income and their financial team continue to harass and threaten me. They add ridiculous charges on top of ANYTHING so please please PLEASE read the whole contract you get and read it again because this company is shady

Dear Max
We are very sorry that you feel this way and also for what you are going through and welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly to resolve these issues.

To address the points your raise, all students are given the terms for enrolment onto a CNM course and are provided with written copies of these prior to enrolling. It’s not possible to sign up for a course unless these have been received and signed by the student.

You may certainly cancel the course and several opportunities were afforded to you at which point you could have done so. This is also covered when a student enrols. Further, notifications are sent out to students in good time once the course has started to make them aware of any cancellation deadlines that are coming up.

You were able to cancel the course at the end of the first year and up to 2 months before the start of the main diploma. It is a shame below you say you hated the first year as on record and to the contrary, having completed this, you write to us to say you are eager to start your second year as soon as possible and in further correspondence say you loved the course.

Later on in your training the College supported you when you needed to take a break from your studies for personal reasons and also waived a deferral fee in order to assist you with this. After your break you say that you very much want to come back to your studies.

I understand my colleague has continued to work with you, assisting in making any outstanding course payments realistic and has offered extremely low payment plans in order to help you, reducing these further on request.

As mentioned above we are very willing to discuss these matters directly with you.

My journey through the Health Coach Diploma Course 😊

I am currently enrolled as an in-class student in the Health Coach Diploma course, and I'm nearing the completion of my diploma journey.
Choosing to enroll in this course has been one of the most rewarding decisions I've made, marking a significant positive change in my life. Through this journey, I've not only gained valuable knowledge and skills but also had the privilege to connect with incredible, like-minded individuals who share a passion for health and wellness. CNM has proven to be an exceptional institution where the commitment to education is truly remarkable.
The course is meticulously organised, offering fantastic in-college service and an online platform coupled with comprehensive theory and hands-on practical training during clinical hours. Additionally, the opportunity to access high-quality online lectures and engage with inspiring lecturers in person has been invaluable.
I highly recommend taking advantage of the various mentoring programs facilitated by ANP and UKIHCA in collaboration with CNM. These programs provide additional support and guidance for personal and professional development.
I must commend the exceptional management of the Health Coach Course by Director Victoria Mudie. Her dedication to maintaining the course's quality and her genuine concern for her students' success is truly commendable.
As I look forward to the next chapter of my journey, I am filled with excitement and confidence. This course equips students with the knowledge, support, and tools necessary to thrive as successful health coach practitioners, and I am eager to embark on this fulfilling path.

My journey

I hate to admit this but the enrolment is super skilled at recruiting quickly bit the terms and conditions are brutal and most be read through category if you wish to proceed. Please please read those word for word. I am so confused about the lack of other negative reviews online and almost find this suspicious. This school gives me really creepy vibes of you investigate it further and their tactics to slap charges for everything, late fees for missing emails with no grace periods was my experience. They shut down my entire course days before the final as I missed an email regarding a payment and was late. Then when I tried to pay the remainder of the course I was informed I need to pay for the next years of my course up front out with a payment plan (threatening legal action if I defaulted), even though I started I can no longer commit to it due to a drastic personal change in circumstance. So now, having almost completed 1 of 3 years of a course I signed up for in 2019, it is 2024 and get get regular emails stating each reminder may come at an additional cost that I owe the payment for the rest of the course. I can’t pay for it, and don’t know how else to state it. I’d love a review of circumstances but refuse to sign a payment plan first.
I loved what I learned in the course however. I did find the filmed lectures dry only because if you notice there’s one main lecturer for each course and you’ll sirens hundreds of hours listening to them talk in the same voice. You can change the speed of the voice which is nice. I found the people also quite pleasant in general who work here. But when it comes to the department of finances, it is a whole different story. Fees keep increasing too for courses. Just be wary of the terms and conditions and check your emails religiously so you don’t miss payments and get charged late fees. Know what the course will look like and make a plan to succeed. Those hurdles aside, I think you can have a very positive experience. I just couldn’t get passed those hurdles, hence my experience is less positive. Don’t jump into the course at the speed at which you’re being recruited. Do through research (which is hard to do online I know, but maybe speak to someone who has gone there)

I have just completed the Health Coach…Diploma

I have just completed the Health Coach Diploma online and have enjoyed every minute. The lectures and course material were of high standard. As I work 3 long shifts per week in a hospital, I have had to be super organised to fit my studies around my job. However if you are studying your passion, you make it work. I should have took my exam in November 2023, unfortunately I caught the flu and was quite poorly with it on the exam days. I got in touch with the course director Victoria Mudie and she transferred me to the January exam without any extra cost or fuss.

1st year Biomed Student

1st year Biomed student, the teaching is excellent both the online lectures and the study handouts. Very easy to use website with clear pathways and instruction. The study resource section is well thought out and appropriate for use. The online study tutorials are also helpful and worth doing. The course content is considerable but manageable as one can dip in and out to suit your own time frame. Highly recommend

Disappointing Experience with Nutritional Therapy Diploma

As a CNM graduate as a Health Coach, I enjoyed my learning. However, if you are considering the Nutritional Therapy diploma, be warned.

I was interested in the Nutritional Therapy diploma and made enquiries regarding this. The marketing team are very keen to get you to commit to making a payment without allowing you to explore your academic abilities and age. I am 62 and started the NT diploma in May 2023 and found it very hard. I was spending around 20 hours a week studying on top of the filmed lectures that were quite long. Some are almost three hours long, so if you have to pause to take notes, you will be there forever.

I was offered a job as a Health Coach working in a trial for 10 hours a week and decided to fit this in with my studies as it came up simultaneously. However, I fell behind with my studies in Biomedicine and became ill. My mental health was suffering from the stress, and I had to stop trying to learn as it was far too hard for me to absorb. There is no way this could be achieved with the 10 hours quoted by the marketing team, and they certainly did not mention to me that this was on TOP of the lectures.

I contacted the college to request a refund as I had yet to pass the first module, but this was refused. I was offered the opportunity to extend my learning time with the college, but there would have been a cost of £100 to move to a different start date. So they wanted even more money from me.

I know of many people who were told the same as me and have since been in tears with the stress of falling behind, moving cohorts and spending another £300 for the privilege, only to end up stressed again because they are putting in a 20 hour week on top of holding down a job.

These people came to *me*. I was told by the college that I had "broken the student rules for discussing this with fellow students". Well, what do people do when they are unhappy? They seek out opinions. I am amazed how many people have been told this is a 10-hour-a-week course and still are told this. The college has since changed the information on their website from 10 to 15 hours in light of my complaint. However, their other social media still says 10 hours, without mentioning this being on top of watching the lectures.

Today, a fellow student called me in tears, saying she had received a bill and a fine for late payment yet had not even received an invoice to pay. The departments do not communicate with each other, and all this does is cause unnecessary stress. For a holistic business, this is ludicrous. They teach you the problems that stress causes, yet they create it!

I spent £3000 on the first year and have not completed the first module, and not even a token gesture of a refund in sight. It's a shame that this college is all about the money grabbing, not the care of the student. As it's mostly online, they are not dealing with people, just numbers and ££££. They have no morals, and I suspect the staff are so far stretched that they are also stressed. They have been rude to my fellow students on the phone, which I guess is because they are at their tether's ends, too.

The business has grown so big, but they don't have the procedures in place to support the growth, and as a consequence, it is all falling into shambles. If I had been asked about my ability or had taken any form of assessment before parting with my money, it would have been clear to me and CNM that this diploma was not for me.

Stress is detrimental to physical and mental health, and the college teaches this. Yet, all I have witnessed with myself and others is that this diploma creates unnecessary stress. If only they were more honest instead of grabbing your hard-earned cash. Please save your money and spend it elsewhere.

We are very sorry to read your account of your experience. I have looked into the correspondence on record in depth and can see that the College has genuinely endeavoured to find a solution to assist you in continuing with your studies and encouraged you to speak with us directly.

To address the points you raise, it is true a 3 year diploma course is a significant undertaking. You are training to become a health practitioner responsible for the wellbeing of future clients who may have complex health issues. Consequently the course does need to be academically and clinically robust, requiring both time and dedication.

All students have a personal consultation before they enrol and are made aware of the workload and the amount of hours involved. As a prior graduate from two diploma courses and a foundation degree you would have been considered academically qualified to undertake the course. With regards to age we have many mature students who choose our diploma courses and successfully complete them.

On the Biomedicine online course there are two lectures per month. Each of these are less than half a day. A student will then additionally do their own work around the lectures in order to consolidate their understanding of the materials.

Accredited courses undergo scrutiny from their accrediting bodies and the information given out at all stages including enrolment is checked and approved. Of course the amount of study time does vary from student to student and the guidance given is therefore an average. Factually, the majority of students do manage to complete the course within the timeframe given and we have extremely positive feedback from them. However, we do understand extenuating circumstances sometimes arise and there are support structures in place to help students who may need more time.

In recognition of this you were afforded the opportunity to take some further time out from your studies when you requested this. There are many elements involved in moving a student to another intake. There is no fee for the initial time a student pushes back their studies but a small fee is charged for subsequent requests which the College considers reasonable. As the course had been started it was not possible to have a refund, the refund policy being clearly stated in the terms & conditions.

Requesting students approach the Director of Studies with any concerns about their studies rather than discussing them with their cohort allows us to address matters directly with the student and take any appropriate action. It also allows other students to continue their course without distraction. We have experienced students contacting the College saying they are enjoying their course and do not wish to be subject to a fellow student discussing personal issues with other students on student WhatsApp groups or student forums.

Your personal opinion on the ethos of the College does not reflect the hard work and commitment of the staff in training naturopathic practitioners nor does it reflect the thousands of students who have enjoyed a positive and life changing experience with CNM and who are now actively practising in the field of naturopathic and preventative health to help others achieve healthier and happier lives.

As already mentioned above we would welcome the opportunity to discuss your course directly with you and remain committed to enabling you to complete your studies.

excellent experience

I am in the first year of my studies - Biomedicine - the online aspect means that I can study when I want and am able.
I feel the lectures are comprehensive, made interesting by the Tutors and delivered in a way that supports learning.
The website is for me, intuitive, easily navigated and has a wealth of helpful supplementary activities and signposted learning.
I have had support via the academic portal when required and communication has been considerate, swift and helpful.
I am thoroughly enjoying my studies with CNM.

Nutritional Therapy Diploma review

I have loved studying Nutritional Therapy at CNM over the past three years - so much so that I have applied for further study in Naturopathy at the college.

As someone whose background is in languages and music (!), I can confirm that this course is suitable for everyone and CNM does a great job of bringing everyone up to the same level in the first year of biomedicine training before moving on to Nutrition.

The content is interesting and I believe CNM really stands out from other institutions because it gives a truly holistic education. Whilst studying Nutritional Therapy, we covered other modules such as Herbal Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as a wide variety of lifestyle and supplemental recommendations that go above and beyond what typical Nutritional Therapists may recommend.

The other way CNM stands out is with its wonderful clinical education. In Year 1 we get to observe consultations between our teachers and clients, and in Year 2 you get the opportunity to bring in up to 5 clients and practise giving consultations. This experience has helped develop me as a practitioner and given me confidence in seeing clients which stands me in good stead for setting up my own business.

The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the workload. I love studying and I am fortunate enough to be in a position where I work part-time and have time to study. However, this course does have a lot of content! Whilst advertised as a part-time course, I have spent a significant amount of time completing coursework and revising for exams - more time than I initially expected to spend! My advice would be to take this into account when starting your studies, as some of my classmates with full-time jobs and families to look after did find this more challenging.

Other than that, there is nothing to fault! The staff are friendly and helpful, the teachers are extremely knowledgable and I have made good friends with a lot of like-minded people on this course.

Thank you Hannah for your kind words, we're glad you enjoyed the course. Whilst it is a part-time course, it is a level 6 diploma and CNM focuses on training safe and effective practitioners (after all they're dealing with people's health) so there is quite a lot of material. As Indira Gandhi once said, “Nothing that is worthwhile is ever easy.”. We look forward to seeing your clinical practice grow and blossom as you take the next step of your journey.

A Transformational Experience

I first knew about CNM in 2018 when I started attending some of their short courses with the aim to improve my level of knowledge and skills as a nutritional advisor. I also was a client receiving acupuncture therapy over a few weeks for my own health issues. I enjoyed the care and felt that I could serve my clients just as well if I graduated from CNM.

I joined the Health Coach course in-class group of 2023. I think I was the oldest in the group and so not confident that I could make it. The group and the tutors have been so brilliantly supportive that I knew I made the right choice at the right time.

On the 04 September, 2023, we completed our last clinic appointments sessions. The reflective process over the 5 clients I coached for my assessments was a transformational experience that made me believe that I have everything I need to go out there and serve my clients. It was the advise from tutors and gratitude from clients that gave me self belief. Also valuable, was that we watched each other's performance, gave and received authentic feedback.

On the 01 December 2023, I received the exciting news that I am now a qualified CNM Health Coach. It's up to me now, yet CNM offers post-graduate support to ensure we make a success of our careers.

For someone who believes in empowering clients / patients to regain responsibility for their own health, this is the course.
Thank you CNM.

Online offers so much flexibility

I’m in my Biomedicine year of the Nutritional Therapy course. Even though I’ve only begun my course, I’m enjoying every aspect.

Biomedicine is a heavy topic with a huge amount of new terminology and processes that are alien to someone like me who does not have a medical background. CNM however, delivers the content in a very concise understandable way. Revision is also consistent so that information is retained.

The online aspect of the course is so handy. I can log in and study any time of the day or night. It’s extremely flexible. All timelines are clearly communicated so you know what you should be doing and when.

I’m excited as I progress through my studies with CNM

My experience as a 61year old with huge gap from studying

I have had a very large gap from studies now aged 61 and really nervous to embark on the nutrition course.
I am doing the online course starting with biomedicine. I have been amazed at the quality of the lectures and accompanying notes can’t praise the professionalism enough. The careful systematic planning and execution is very evident and suits me as I can rewind the lecture and along with the notes and revisit parts that are difficult. There are really helpful revision exercises and post lecture seminars to go back over the information helping to consolidate the learning.
There is also an essence of kindness, consideration and understanding in the way this course is delivered.
In my opinion there has been an enormous collaborative effort behind the scenes to achieve this quality so glad I chose to study with them.

Absolutely outstanding Teaching

Absolutely amazing Teaching. Already within the first few months I have learned so much. Our bodies are just awesome and we need to take care of them and others. Honestly, you get outstanding teachings and fun lectures, that make learning so much better. I am dyslexic and in the past found being in a classroom uncomfortable, but seriously now I love going to class and look forward to the next class. The Staff are all so helpful, lovely and really kind. I adore everyone in my class, we have become like a big family. We help each other when need it. All in all I highly recommend learning at CNM.
