This is a recently renovated and newly launched community pub with rooms to let. It has a well constructed and flattering website.
A pleasant but not overly friendly young lady checked me in and took me to my room. My room was lovely, fresh and clean. The bed was unbelievably comfortable and the bathroom was also new, clean and the shower was great ! There were a few irritations though especially as I had paid £190.00 for just two nights with no breakfast ! For this price I would expect the basics to be matched if not exceeded.
On the first night I discovered too late that there was nothing to tell me the WI-FI code and the fridge which was brand new was empty and had not been plugged in, so I had to get dressed again and go downstairs to get some water and the code. There was also a brand new bedside FM clock/radio that had not been set up/ tuned in .. it needed to be DAB given the reception in the area.
On my return the following evening I was irritated to see that the used coffee cup from the morning had not been replaced nor had the milk. Additionally there was no instant coffee sachets just the remainder of the cafetière coffee.
On the Sunday morning there was sight nor sign of any staff until 9am so no coffee for me ! As there was no information printed about the Inn left in the room to refer to I just gave up and told the helpful cleaner behind the bar that I was leaving.
I understand the New Inn is closed from Sunday at 3pm to Tuesday so perhaps not the place to go for a weekend treat which might roll into a Monday. I also thought it was a shame and a missed money making opportunity as Sunday night would be a great night to go out for a meal or drink etc.
