New to Newtek bank. Just opened a cd account. one of the main reasons that I decided on Newtek was the free wire transfers and that an account could be done in as little as 20 min. I liked the way my transaction was handled from start to finish. I was very comfortable with the process all the way through. Now the negative part. There was not an easy way on their application for my wife as co applicant. The only way was to finish with my name only and apply for her name to be used later, which I did. Not a big deal but that was troubling. The big rub was the free wire transfer that was advertised and that I was expecting turned out to be snail slow ACH. That banking ploy cost me $83.84 in interest. When something is advertised, it should proceed as advertised. Considering filing a dispute with EFTA.
I just received a call from Newtek and they assured me that I would receive the lost interest and that interest starts from day 1 no mater wire transfer or ach. I am revising the rating from 3 star to 5 star because they got back to me right away. Excellent response to my problem.

My CD matured 3/23/2026 with instructions to transfer to Savings upon maturity. They haven’t done that it’s already weekend of Mar.28 and still no transfer done so I still have no access to my matured money. Scary to bank with Newtek.

My CD matured 3/13/26 and been trying to get my money out. called 3 times and sent 5 secure messages. It’s 3/20/26 and no confirmation on my messages. I have dealt with many East coast banks and money is confirmed and sent back within days. This is not professional and why offer CDs if this bank operates in this manner.
I was finally contacted by Ja'Kira, she was able to resolve the issue quickly and wire back the funds the same day.

I just wanted to say that in my opinion, Joanna Baez is one heck of an asset to Newtek Bank. She spent days, hours on me with the patience of an angel. She is extremely professional, yet at the same time literally puts herself, it seems, in your shoes and explains everything, until it's clear to you. She is so very pleasant no matter how hyper one may get, she calms you and reassures you that all will be good. I came in contact with her 9 months ago and I am one happy camper. So happy, in fact, that the CD I was going to withdrawal "in total", I kept with NewTek. Plus, I opened another, thanks all to Joanna and her kindness. She definitely can take conflicting situations and change them completely around, all for her customers. Honestly, I most likely would not be continuing with NewTek, had she not stepped into the picture. Handles things quickly, takes situations seriously and makes sure you end a conversation with her, a happy customer. Managerial staff don't always get the credit they deserve, and I just thought NewTek Bank should know that I greatly appreciate her.

I took out a 9 month Consumer CD with Newtek Bank. They were offering 4.5% at the time during the FOMC interest reductions of 2025. It was a no frills job filling out the application and funding the said CD. I held the CD til maturity.
Anyway, now that the CD has matured i rang Newtek and advised them that my CD had matured and requested all funds to be remitted back to the still open funding account.
The custom service rep hand walked me through the secured messaging platform to properly request funds from the matured CD to be sent back to the original funding account.
The customer service rep sounded irritated throughout the phone call and resultant secure message. She nevertheless indicated i had done things properly and my funds should be on the way.
Two business days later the banking site still shows I have an active CD with Newtek.
I will implement push come to shove techniques to force Newtek to honor their obligations and return the requested mature CD monies.
