We booked a trip to Japan via Secret Escape as we have booked a trip to Vietnam and was very pleased, we thought this trip would be the same, but what a disappointment
First we try to get in contact with the travel agent but Secret Escape customer dept refuse to give us the name of the travel agent, we called them several times months before but no response or help, they told us to wait for the name
We got it 8 days before our travel and it was to late to change hotels the name of the travel agent it is VIO and we do not recommend them, we could only change some of the hotels in the end of the trip but they quoted very high price so we booked other hotels by ourselves as we got tired of the small rooms in overbooked hotels
It ment double charge for us as they do not refund
Also the planning of the trains was bad we had to change 3 times between Kanazawa and Hiroshima instead of a direct trip
We strongly advise not to book a trip to Japan via Secret Escape and VIO
Japan is great and we booked our own guides and tours during the trip

Special occasion holiday to Japan…
Special occasion holiday to Japan flying via Doha with Qatar Airways on 14th May .
Extremely disappointed with the customer service response on my ask to refund my money as Qatar Airways are now giving refunds to 15th June due to the Iran conflict.
I was told this would not be possible and I would need to wait until the flight is cancelled. This is disgraceful when they could quite easily request the refund from the airline now! And I could get on with booking another holiday!
Very frustrating and utterly unhelpful to my situation. They could not guarantee a full refund on the cancellation by the airline only that I may be offered a different option and this could be only a few days before my holiday dates! What good is that when holiday dates are already agreed with work!
Asked to speak to a manager but no one available.
Not helpful at all!

Experience with illness
I was unable to travel due to illness and the hotel did not even refund a portion of the price attributable to the non-used (included) breakfast and other variable cost. Also, no effort visible to occupy my room with other clients.

Great but not perfect
The tour was perfect and everything was well organized, The vineyard experience was amazing, great food and wines at a beautiful location, All hotels were 4 stars and really nice. Only Mino’s hotel was not at the same level. The hotel was old and very poorly maintained and dirty…breakfast was done with very low quality and old ingredients. This could be improved. Last thing to be improved is the car rental company. We had Surprice. They force you to do a very expensive insurance and if you have a problem they won’t help you and Secret escapes also do not support you. Still our holiday was great!

Excellent customer service
I've used Secret Escapes twice this year and would highly recommend them. Everything was as it should be and the booking process was easy. Our first trip was to Berlin and had to be delayed as my husband was ill-they couldn't have been more helpful and made it so easy to switch our dates for free. The second trip was to Birmingham and the extras included in the hotel really made the trip.

Overnight stay, reasonable experience.
We stayed at this hotel just one night, passing through Amsterdam. Bit of a 'what-you-see-is-what-you-get' experience. No frills, functional, little personal interaction and the restaurant was closed so we had to order in some food (unexpected). Decent bed; breakfast quite good; bathroom strangely visible (glass walls), bit odd. Metro station quite close. Nothing great here, and a bit overpriced for what you get.
