We had a kitchen from this appalling …

We had a kitchen from this appalling company back in September 2021,they were an absolute nightmare only part of the kitchen turned up they measured up wrong so the fitter who was a dream and so embarrassed to be working for them did an excellent job under the circumstances…..we even had to order our own skip as they hadn’t booked one we had to order our own sink, hob, taps and fridge from Amazon as they kept fobbing us off about deliveries and as for the manager Bob Mills he is just a liar, arrogant and just doesn’t give a damn about people.
I hear that they have gone into liquidation and started up another company under the name of Northgate home improvement….run as far away from this company.

Steer clear!!!!

Northgate Kitchens Ltd - Aldridge, Walsall. In March 2022 we placed an order for a full kitchen and appliances, including sinks, taps - everything. The installation date came and was confirmed, so we paid the bulk of the cost. On installation day, only the carcasses arrived. The went into liquidation. They 100% guaranteed they would complete our kitchen and told us they had set up Northgate Home Improvements Ltd purely to complete any outstanding kitchen jobs the had. After many lies and false promises, we were left with no kitchen. The liquidators called us and said there was never any intention of completing our kitchen, the goods were never ordered in the first place and anticipated there would be no chance of getting our money back. The directors are Robert David Mills and Joshua Jack Mills - Steer clear of these people!

Please do not touch this company

Please do not touch this company. The day before they liquidated, they pushed one of my friends for an ordered kitchen and she has lost £11,500. This was inherited money from her mom, who had died five months ago. The owner is called Robert Mills and has started another company. Appalling behaviour.

Looks like they have gone bust

Just had a call from the company and told they are unable to fulfill our order along with 30 other kitchens on there order books and that we should claim our money back from the credit card company ... Company house is still showing that the company is active and there as been a chance to the directors in the last few days so I don't know if it is a wash job ... But please don't give them any of your money until you have fully checked them out

Would not touch this company with a bargepole. Useless. Took nearly 4 weeks to Install our tiny kitchen. Excuses left right and centre every day. People not turning up etc. The electrics installed were not to regulations and incorrect In fact one socket was clearly higher than the other. The boss is an arrogant man. Stay away people.

Avoid at all costs

I have been fitting kitchens for 35 years and this is the worst company I have ever dealt with they are a complete shambles .
A kitchen that should of took me 2 weeks to complete ended up taking me 6 weeks ,they look the part, nice show room and all that but the carnt deliver the goods I even referred a friend to them in the beginning but now they are having the same problems .
They take your payment but carnt deliver on time and when they do delver the kitchen is incomplete Avoid them at all costs

Hi Andy,

We spoke and met during your installation where I was aware of issues on the design and this not fitting correctly to measurements supplied. I appreciate some of the items were a longer than normal lead time due to supply chain issues relating to Covid which was challenging for us and the whole industry. We did speak with you daily to give you news even if bad and we agreed to all changes without argument.

We will always learn from feedback (good or bad) and I know you have since spoken to Mark our Trade manager to discuss changes we have made to lead times, and ways of working with supply only jobs moving forward.

I sincerely hope you will give us another opportunity to supply our products in the future where I am sure you will see improvements

My experiences!

I submitted a brochure request over a week ago and I have had no acknowledgement at all, I have made multiple attempts to call the showroom and none of my calls are being answered, It seems the company has gone bust. Professionalism does not come to mind after reading the multiple reviews and it confirms my experiences it seems. I will most certainly be taking my business elsewhere.

Hi Lesley,

We are in our 10th year trading and have not 'gone bust'. All of our phones are answered during office hours and there is a facility to leave a message out of hours. We take all feedback good or bad on board but I don't agree with this review.

You submitted a call back request via our website but the number supplied was a digit short. We sent you an email to request the correct number which didn't get a reply and we have since written to you and emailed but no response.

I appreciate we could have emailed or written again but we are not a hard pressure sales company so would not bombard you even if details were correct.

Wishing you all the best with your project

If only I know what I know now.....

If only I know what I know now I wouldn’t go anywhere near this company. Issues all the way from day one of install. Was all happy and good when designer came out to measure up. I made it clear that we wanted tiles up to the wall and NOT just to the kick boards. We chose our kitchen was was well over 10k. We didn’t ask for a discount and signed up on the day.....

The start of the install is where it started to go wrong.

Issue 1

Fitters turn up to remove old kitchen - no skip. Ended up having it all piled up on the drive until the skip arrived the next day.

Issue 2

Tiler comes to do the floor. Only to advise us we “don’t have enough tiles, as it’s only mean measured up to the kick boards” I then had to get the extra tiles that were needed to finish the floor

Issue 3

Contractors would not turn up when Northgate advised they would do. Would get calls in the morning advising “they be here soon” would then get a call around 3pm advising no one would be coming today.

Issue 4

Units were scratched so had to have parts replaced after finished

Issue 5

Northgate and tradesmen do not work off same plan. Between the electricians and Northgate they managed to miss out the cables for under cupboard lighting after kitchen had all been plastered so these couldn’t be done as per agreed. Had to have additional sockets fitted on top of cupboards and power on and off from an Alexa.

Issue 6

Less than 2 months after the kitchen had been finished 1 of the 8 spot lights stopped working. Was advised “Elextrican would be out before 12 on Saturday” 1pm
Come and no one arrived called up Northgate to get told “oh I think they only work till 12 as they have family’s to” there seems to be a lot of politics between the fitters and Northgate. 5pm someone turns up who is not a Electrican and did his best took the bulb out and went to get a replacement. He advised it was not the same colour but it would get sorted.......they never got in contact again until I chased

Issue 7

Since having the new kitchen the electrics in the house trip out. Seems to be when have a few devices on this happens never happened before with same devices.

Issue 8

Another spot light has not gone so in less than 3 months 2 out of 8 have failed.

I requested the project manager came to my house to talk about the project half way though but he didn’t want to do this

Was told it would all be done within 2 weeks was closer to 3.5 weeks.

After all these issues all we got was £75 off the bill for “fuel to get the extra tiles”

I have started legal action against this company now as it seems like when things go wrong and you call the project managers phone all you get told is “oh he’s left his work mobile in the store and he’s on site”

I would hate anyone to have the same problems as we did and hope they read this review first and then can make up there mind before they part with hard earned cash.

Our first experience of Northgate was…

Our first experience of Northgate was very professional and helpful which is why we chose them, however, from the time of delivery of our kitchen units and appliances we had problems. Several items were incorrect, some damaged, 6 doors were missing, taps were wrong and fitments didn’t fit. We were questioned by the Manager, who implied that everything had been delivered and did we have them stashed in the garage! We had in total 4 different fitters, some visited several times and the whole kitchen took 9 weeks to complete which we feel is unacceptable time scale especially as we were led to believe it would be 2 weeks. We ordered a very expensive paint to order kitchen with quartz worktops and I would not recommend Northgate kitchens.
