Ive been with Oaken for 10 years. No serious issues whatsoever. Didnt give them 5 stars because they are not perfect. But still much better rates than the others so Im sticking with them

The time it took to fulfill my request…
The time it took to fulfill my request for a short term GIC took an excessive period of time to process in my opinion.
Also the website process to open an additional account for an existing customer seems cumbersome. It would be ideal to be able to open a GIC instantly online and then tramsfer the money into the new investment seamlessly.

While I believe that my investment in Oaken was a good one, the young lady, who I dealt with on the phone, was less than excited about her job and the investment that I was making…..to the point of being abrupt. Certainly, a thank you to me for my first investment with Oaken would have left me with no doubts about the company.

they didn't tell me they wouldn't pick…
they didn't tell me they wouldn't pick up the transfer fee from td Waterhouse. I know they weren't obliged to but it leaves a very sour taste since the fee was more than a years interest. I will not, absolutely nort use them again and I have already badmouthed them to friends

Great savings rates that no other bank offers with Oaken. Fantastic customer service from day one, hassle free. I have done all my banking online to date and it has been so amazing to not worry about going into a bank for this, that and the other. If you are thinking of opening an account with Oaken, do it!

Overall i am pleased with the service i receive from Oaken; the telephone is answered quickly and my questions, for the most part, are answered. The gic investment rates offered are better than the banks and i hope this continues; the only reason i am not giving a 5 star rating is because i was told i could complete all forms online and submit them electronically since I do not have a printer or scanner; however, this is not the case as i was informed today that signatures are required and you do not accept esign; (the forms i am referring to are T2033 and tax free saving transfer forms;) so it appears i still have to forward the forms to my local bank for printing and scanning back to me; other than that inconvenience i am satisfied;

My experience with Oaken Financial is ‘average’
You set up my new account in a timely and efficient manner.
Honestly, during this post-Covid period,
savers are searching on-line for the highest interest they can earn on their savings.
My experience has been that virtual banks offer better interest rates than bricks and mortar banks.
From a savings account perspective, Oaken offers the lowest interest of the four virtual banks that I bank with. Oaken is 1.15%, I have another at 1.50% and two others at 1.25%.
I do have one GIC @ 1.60% for 18 months with Oaken, which was the best offer I could find at that time.

Opening an account with Oaken has been…a frustrating experience
Opening an account with Oaken has been the most difficult exercise in frustration that I have encountered in my banking history. It took almost 2 weeks of emails and waiting for phone service before it happened. After all that my window of opportunity had closed. I later found out to have my wife as a co-signer on the account she too would have to wait for phone service and fill out numerous forms etc. We once opened an account at the local credit union in 10 minutes and have 500 k invested there. I realise that online banking can be subject to fraud etc., but there has to be a better way. Thanks.

Very responsive, I was able to talk to someone right away. No big voice tree or waiting on hold. They were able to handle my request at first contact.
