Rip off service

I have a BMW 530 which was serviced by Ocean in Plymouth in late October for about £650. Now, 3000 miles and four months later, the brake fluid warning led has lit.

I phoned this company who said a brake fluid change would cost £121!

What did they do for my £650 at the recent service?
Apparently, according to this company, a service doesn't cover brake fluid!!!! This is a timed service - first 3 years and every 2 years after that.

Avoid this profiteering company!

Well done Ocean Motorrad.

I have just taken delivery of a gorgeous R1300 GS from Ocean BMW in Plymouth.

From start to finish my dealings with Richard in sales was perfect. Nothing was too much trouble for him and the bike arrived exactly as described. The bike delivery company they use was equally as impressive.

I would definitely buy again from this company.

Awful place

Awful place , incompetent service advisor (joe suggett) was meant to be assigned to me didnt speak look at me or even care why i was there had a continual blank look on face didnt know anything about his job. Zero customer service skills. Ive got reservations if my car was even serviced was told they would send me a video of that being done im still waiting nearly 2 weeks later. They Didn't like the fact my car was over 10 years old its 12. No one actually gave a flying f… about customers at all. There motto is to squeeze as much money out of us as possible. I certainly will not be going back its a shambles with female staff wandering around with micro minis on like they were going clubbing not working very unprofessional. Avoid

Broke down on the Thursday f850gs…

Broke down on the Thursday f850gs phoned round trying to see if anyone had the part with no luck. Then the lady from Ocean rang me back to say they would manage to get one delivered over-night & fit it on the Friday. Which they did, I was riding back to Whitby N. Yorks on the Saturday so I am very grateful & highly recommend.

Disorganised at best

Very poorly organised company. Difficult just to organise a simple service. No response to calls no call backs. Now charge for a loan car when so many other smaller concerns do not. Main cause is poor management and a couldn't care less attitude. Now taken my business elsewhere.

Don't trust them

I purchased a 2 year old John Works sports mini clubman from Oceans Plymouth, which was in immaculate condition.

After a couple of weeks we noticed the rear seats were damp. On investigation we found the void area below the boot was full of water, which did not happen over night. Oceans immediately booked it in to investigate.

The lack of customer care started when my husband took the car in on my behalf due to my work commitments. The service supervisor was rude to my husband when he declined the courtesy electric mini as was not practical for our lifestyle, I will add we had assumed we would get like for like as a courtesy car.

It took approximately two weeks to get the leak fixed, during this time the communication fizzled out. I rang and spoke to the service supervisor explaining the impact the delay was having on my work commitments, and was told I could collect it unfixed. I found her to be antagonistic rather than reassuring, not a good quality when dealing with a dissatisfied customer.

When I finally collected the car, it had not been checked over as it was covered in bird droppings. The man in servicing washed it and parked it ready for us to drive off. On further inspection we found extensive damage to the drivers front quarter and wheel arch.

The service supervisor was manager that day, she looked at the damage and said she would book it in for repair. There was no apology and we were surprised about the lack of urgency to repair the damage to a car that had immaculate body work until entrusted in their care. After arguing our point, it was agreed they would keep it and the damage was repaired within the week.

The way in which the Service Manager has followed up our complaint, along with a voucher to use on Oceans products, has not instilled us with the confidence to use Oceans Plymouth or recommend them to others.

Shocking BMW Franchise

Purchased a 2 year old BMW 118i M sport, from day one had issue with air con/heating. Took them months to diagnose and eventually nearly 7 months later on replacing heater box. They did not bleed cooling system correctly and it overheated breaking down on motorway 4th December 2023. Was recovered to BMW Vertu (Exeter) who diagnosed and repaired. I have tried to complain but it would seem that BMW franchise are a law to them selves and there is no cause of action for the consumer. My experience has put me off BMW for life it is not a brand I will ever deal with again. Avoid at all costs! To date I never got so much as an apology. Still in disbelief over the treatment I have received.

Poor customer service. Charged for work not done.

Had my car for 2 days every time I called for an update never got one despite being promised a call. Finally returned my car last night after I called again ! - Charged for winter health check and care package which I wanted to ensure safety - seems this was not carried out - Tyre pressure not done - warning light to stop slow on the way home - fancy returning a car in an unsafe state! ,plus no care pack provided as detailed and paid for. Doubtful levels even topped up. Oh and tried to charge £150 more than quoted for works required which was fortunately detailed on their screen and was resolved at the time. Tried to call them to sort these issues , once again told someone would call me back and yet again they have not! Take your car elsewhere very poor.

Dreadful customer service and misdiagnosed faults

Numerous visits with our X2 which was under warrenty.
Misdiagnosed faults which led to me breaking down 250 miles from home !
Denied issues with lights which then failed completely.
Courtesy cars never available.
Booking issues , kept waiting for hours, issues they were advised about not checked , I could go on but think there may be a limit on words .
Now my car is out of warrenty I will never go back there and urge others to try to use different garages .

Poor attitude

Having owned a BMW and Mini since 2010 I have used BMW Ocean Plymouth for my servicing needs and it was always very good.
Earlier this year I went in to book a service ( as I always have done so to speak with the service advisor personally).
On being asked what I was there for the response from the advisor was along the lines of 'why have you come in here to do that, you could have phoned and booked it'. I was taken back by this attitude, like I was interrupting his day?
Further to this some problems on the car were taken to this dealer to be sorted under warranty, they tried to blame on 'flat batteries' which was not the case.
Some other things needed sorting out and I provided some paperwork outlining the problem to assist their technician in looking in the right place. When this was presented to the service desk advisor he dismissed it 'they wont look at that'. The same man whose day I interrupted for the service earlier.
During my last visit I will say the young female service desk advisor was very good.
However I have now sold my BMW and will never have a need to use BMW Ocean again which is great.
They need to sort themselves out.

How many more times do you have to call…

How many more times do you have to call Ocean BMW Plymouth to get the promised call back by the service desk after the call handler has said I have left them a message to call you or they spoke to front of house and said they will call me back. So far, on this particular occasion, it’s been 3 times over a period of 5 days, still nothing, but then again, nothing unusual. Their front of house service desk is absolutely painful. Yet, when I call Westerly BMW in Exeter, you get to talk to a service desk advisor straight away, every time. No problems, no issues and very knowledgeable.

They had a new motorbike advertised on Autotrader for £5495, I asked if that was the on the road price (emails to prove) and they said yes it is. Now the bike is in stock and I have been waiting for it they are saying it's £5999, so over £500 more,

Perfect! In every way....

Wow. What can I say, I am delighted in the experience and customer service received from Falmouth Ocean BMW. I was extremely lucky to deal with Danielle Addy at Falmouth, after making an enquiry on the new BMW 3 Series Danielle was on it and kept me constantly updated. To put this into context, I have used many dealerships as I change my vehicle multiple times per year; but no dealership has ever been this good! Even before I committed to buying the vehicle, Danielle explained she was extremely busy on certain days yet managed to squeeze me in answering all questions and providing all required documentation. Its basically what almost every business struggles with now, basic customer service. Well, Falmouth have nailed it with Danielle and I could not have asked for better! From my initial enquiry through to collection the service was superb! I hope the dealership appreciates what they have. I am also confident this flows throughout the dealership as upon collection each team member played a role in creating a nice environment and great atmosphere. I would not hesitate to use this dealership, especially Danielle, over and over again! Well done!
