Extremely Alarming Application Process

Extremely alarming application process. We submitted an application and never heard from anyone. The application itself was truly alarming because it asked for my mother's maiden name...not sure why that was requested or needed. I sincerely regret placing the application, giving them so much personal information, uploading my identification documents, etc.

Over a week went by, only to receive a denial without any form of due diligence. This is extremely alarming!

Great concept and mission, but it needs a great deal of oversight in their application process. The scrutiny and information request almost feels criminal.

Business accounts have a setup fee with a minimum of $1k to open. Depositors are the sole reason financial institutions remain open...many have closed. Extremely concerning with the information requested...

Banking should not be this complicated. We deserve a banking partner that actually understands our needs, who has a personal touch (community), does their due diligence, has sensible processing times, and a state-of-the-art website/application portal.

Please, stick with your local banks/credit unions who has a personal touch. A financial institution that has your back. One where you are within their demographics. We formally regret this decision!

DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Best of luck!

Review for April at Old Glory Bank

Review for April at Old Glory Bank
I want to give a special thank you to April at Old Glory Bank for her outstanding Customer service.
I’ve been dealing with ongoing fraud issues on my accounts, so when I saw an Apple charge appear on my personal debit card, I immediately became concerned. I had canceled my Apple Card back in September 2025, and I wasn’t sure if this was another fraudulent charge. April not only listened with genuine empathy and patience, but she went above and beyond to investigate and reassure me. She took the time to walk me through everything clearly and made me feel confident that if this was indeed fraud, Old Glory Bank would get to the bottom of it.
Old Glory Bank is very lucky to have representatives like April. I’ve dealt with other helpful people there in the past, but something about how April handled today’s call really stood out — she was exceptional.
April represents exactly what customer service should be — attentive, knowledgeable, and truly caring. In a world where so many companies outsource support and you often end up speaking with someone who can barely understand you, it’s refreshing and reassuring to work with an American-based bank that values real, clear communication and American Values.
I’m not sure what April is getting paid, but she definitely deserves a raise, a promotion, or at least a big bonus — a good review on a webpage just doesn’t seem like enough recognition for the way she handled things today!
I’m incredibly grateful for April’s help and proud to bank with a company that stands for American values. Old Glory Bank is the real deal. If you’re looking for a bank that actually cares about its customers, this is it.
Thank you again, April — you’re a credit to your bank.

Decent Bank - VERY limited and VERY SLOW Customer Service

I really like the idea behind Old Glory Bank and what they’re trying to do. That was a big reason I signed up in the first place, and I still think the mission is a strong part of what makes the bank appealing.

It does seem like they’re working to improve the website and app so they feel more like a bigger bank. They’ve made some progress, but it still feels like there’s a little ways to go before everything is as smooth and polished as the larger banks.

The biggest issue for me has been customer service wait times. Everyone I’ve dealt with has been nice and helpful, but no matter why you call, you’re probably going to be waiting a long time.

They do have messaging through the app and online, but in my experience that just led to them calling me and telling me to call support. So really, it still comes back to phone support and long hold times. I had fraud on my card, and the wait was so long every time I tried to call that I finally just decided to eat the charges and shut the card off. I couldn’t spend 30-plus minutes on hold during the middle of my workday.

If you just need a basic bank and like what they stand for, I think it’s worth supporting. But if you have more involved banking needs or move larger amounts of money around, I’d probably go with a bigger bank.

Tried to ooen an account

Tried to ooen an account. I received the welcome emails and that my card would arrive in 7 to 10 days. It never did. At 3 weeks even old glory said i should have had it. So, they cancelled it and said they would send out a new card, priority, snd waive the fee. Cool. But, after 4 days, not only did i not have a card, nobody could give me a tracking # to even know if it was actually sent. After being passed around to 4 different supervisors over a few different calls, i told them to just close the acount. And 4 business hours later, i got the email my account was closed. So, theyre
good at closing accounts i guess, just not very good at opening them.

I wish I hadn't given them my information.

The signup process was concerning from the start, especially when they asked for my mother's maiden name, just to start a simple checking account. I don't remember having that asked by any other institution, and remember being warned since I was a kid not to disclose that to anyone, except maybe on an application for credit. In this case, I had to give them that, my social sec#, upload a scan of my driver's license, tell them my income, employer etc.. After going through the process, today I received a short email stating that they're unable to accommodate my request, with no reason given. I've never had to jump through hoops for other online banks, or had to prove I was worthy of an account before. Also, I saw no way of reviewing or editing my sensitive information or application once it was entered. It just disappeared into their website. The process felt less than professional from the beginning, and reviews from several others made me apprehensive. I should've listened to my instincts. The more reviews I read from their customers or former ones, the more I think they did me a favor by declining my "request" for a checking account. I opened an account with another online bank immediately, with zero issues., and without the mother's maiden name garbage.

Hidden and Ridiculous Fees

I signed up for an account because they said it was free. Then a year later I get an email telling me they're charging me $25/mo for a statement fee.

Then I contacted them on their website, asked them to close my account and they said I need to call them.

So I call them, sit on hold for 63 minutes before I talk to someone to close the account.

$25 per month fee is insane, who would pay that when I can get free checking accounts?
