I didn't enjoy the course experience.
The system did not always allow me to move on to the next section. It did not always register that I had completed a section. It did not suit my learning style: the videos and animations took too long, I prefer to read and make notes at my own pace. I work in a primary school but many of the videos were about secondary pupils. I found the virtual assistant quite patronising. I dislike having to make pointless forum posts and replies to post in order to pass the course.

Technical difficulties: We're concerned to hear about the problems you encountered with section completion not registering properly and this was likely due to a technical bug upon the launch of the new GAP Workbook. Our team have since investigated this and rectified the issue to ensure smooth navigation for all future course participants.
Learning style preferences: We understand that everyone has different learning preferences. While our courses currently use a mix of videos and animations, courses also offer the option to just read the animations with hype2text if you do not want to go through animations. There is also a notes option available.
Content relevance: We aim to cater to educators across various levels. You can also find the age range the videos are focussed on in the course info description for each course.
Virtual assistant: We apologise if our virtual assistant came across as patronizing, we will continue to monitor all responses to ensure they are supportive and helpful to our community.
Forum participation: We include forum posts to encourage peer learning and discussion among our community and are sorry that you didn't find this a valuable asset to the course experience.
Finally, our UK based support team are available to support you throughout our course experience. If you encounter any technical issues or have questions, our support ticket function is always available will address any concerns promptly.

I enjoyed watching the videos and real life accounts of people living with autism. I was also impressed at the detail the 'virtual assistant' went into with her responses and advice. I found it helpful reading the opinions/ experiences of other people doing the same course.

This course brings understanding and is practical.
This course brings understanding and awareness on what dyslexic children struggle with. Some very good ideas and case studies on how children with dyslexia can be supported individually in a whole school approach.

I would recommend OLT to anyone thinking of doing a course of their choice. Rod was very patient and descriptive in his assistance throughout the course. He always responded relatively quickly. Given the chance and if my finances allow would love to complete another course with OLT.

VI Training
I found the training very informative and could relate to a lot of what was being taught with regard to my student. I particularly found the education elements interesting and also the detail on the wide range of VI that can present in young people and adults.

Getting a better understanding of Hearing Impairment in FE
Having recently completed the Hearing Impairment Course, I can certainly say that it was a highly informative and eye-opening experience. As someone who is hearing impaired, I believed I understood what the learners went through, I found the course to be incredibly helpful in gaining a better understanding of their struggles and how to communicate with them more effectively.
Throughout the course, we covered a wide range of important topics, including the different types of hearing loss and the various devices and technologies that are available to assist those with hearing impairment. I was thoroughly impressed with the knowledge and approachability of the instructors, and the class discussions were engaging and thought-provoking.
One of the most valuable aspects of the course, in my opinion, was the emphasis on empathy and understanding. Not only did we learn to recognize the challenges faced by individuals with hearing loss, but we also learned how to actively work towards creating a more inclusive and accessible environment for them.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Hearing Impairment Course to anyone seeking to expand their knowledge of hearing loss and how to support those who are affected by it. It is a valuable resource for both personal and professional development, and I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in it.
