My husband and I contacted several…

My husband and I contacted several valuers in September 2023 with a view to selling a Cartier necklace and a solid silver serving tray. Olympia Mayfair got in touch and a well dressed man calling himself James D Charles came to our house in east London by appointment to value them. He was friendly & personable & seemed professional. The silver tray is actually a racing trophy with distinct engravings and he went into some detail about a buyer he had in mind with connections to horse racing. I think he said he needed to make closer inspections of our items at his office, so I stupidly agreed to let him take them in return for a hand written ‘receipt’. I emailed a month or so later for an update on whether there was ‘interest’ or not & got a response. When I did this again in January, I didn’t get a reply, so I called his mobile. He answered & said he’d had a terrible Christmas having over-bought watches & that the market was slow. We agreed to wait for Valentine’s Day to see if the necklace sold following which the items would be returned if no one bought them by then. Obviously this was all a load of rubbish & the guy is a crook. I reviewed Companies House & checked online reviews before doing business with this man. At that time there weren’t any warnings, which is unfortunate. I will now contact Sussex Police as advised in this thread & look to the Courts for the return of my goods or monetary compensation for my losses.

Olympia Mayfair: A fraudulent business

My experience echoes all the other reviews. James Charles, or Goatley, is a fraudster and smooth-talking con man. Avoid any dealings with him at all costs.
Unfortunately these reviews weren't available when I first encountered him last August.
Sussex Police told me they didn't have a record of a local enquiry and said to contact Action Fraud (address can be found on Google)

I am so disappointed

I am so disappointed. I am a single Mum who wanted to sell her engagement ring from her ex husband to pay for some bills. He did come to my house and paid me for 2 gold coins and a wedding band immediately, so I trusted him. He however took my really expensive engagement ring on a sale or return basis. He then came up with myriad excuses, he had Covid, a car crash etc, he told me he had been arrested, he was very apologetic but promised me he wasn’t a fraudster. Please avoid this man.

Avoid James Goatley at all costs

Raising awareness for anyone who is owed money or has been scammed by Jamie Goatley to continue to go to Sussex police quoting operation kettle.

James goatley runs this company and is just one of his numerous fraudulent activities including English artworks.

He is currently under investigation. If you search his name you’ll see the article on square mile news. Also reports on watch crime London. Trustpilot also has a good record of people being scammed.

Search Google for when he was last jailed and has since defrauded family and tens of victims of which I have connected.

Utter scam

Utter scam! Olympia Mayfair pays a lot for sponsored advertising to appear as though they are a well used site but the reality is a one man show, scam artist and thief!

With regards to this company Olympia…

With regards to this company Olympia MayFair LTD, this company has astonished me for a number of factors. James came out to me on the 31st of August 2023, he took two Art Deco pieces of jewellery, the first thing on reflection is when giving me the receipt with estimated values for the 2 items, he wrote on the receipt he gave me he proclaimed he would give me confirmed date of Auction which he did not do. This did not happened until I got on the phone and kept chasing him. I am a person who has worked in management within Customer Service all my life, whenever I said to a customer I would be in touch with the relevant information, I kept my word. This gentleman James from this company came out to my home gave me a receipt for my 2 art deco items, he is not professional in my personal opinion as he does not keep his word and this is not acceptable within such a so called reputable company as he proclaims it is. This is down to each and every individual to make their own mind up with all my information I am submitting within this review.
not acceptable. When James came to my home and took 2 art deco items and gave me a receipt for them “ Told me when my items went into Auction he would give me the link to the items going into the auction” I hasten to add he did NOT do this even after numerous phone calls to James I never received the link.

James kept making up excuses to me as to when it would go into auction and I hasten to add he not once gave me the link plus after 2 of the items being sold in the December 2023, he never gave me the receipt from the Auction it went into even after he promised he would email it across to this day I have never received this receipt in within an email. This is extremely unprofessional.

On Tuesday the 19th December James telephoned me “ asking me to take down my review that I put up, as this will effect his business.”
Not only that he proclaimed my second art deco piece only went for £400, I was outraged by this as on my receipt he gave me on the 31st August 2023, I said to James “ wow hold on a moment how can that be because on my receipt you James agreed on the lowest amount we would go for was no less than what was on the receipt” plus I continued to ask him for the auction receipt for my 1st item he sold in an auction which as I said I still have not received so I can only leave this to each and every person to make of it as you will !!!

I told James I had someone who was willing to buy this item and he begged me to leave it with him as he had someone who wanted to buy it. This never happened and to this day my second item has not gone to auction well I have to say that because today the 24th February James has still not got back to me regarding my item that was supposed to be going into an Auction on the 18th January 2024. I am appalled with the service I have or should I say not have from James’s company Olympia MayFair LTD.

I personally feel James does not follow through with everything he says he will.
Like I said he didn’t ever give me a receipt from the auction he submitted my first item that was sold and this is still an ongoing issue that has NOT been resolved to this day.

In my personal opinion to the public who are looking to sell their precious items through Olympia MayFair, W1K 1QW. Think long and hard before using them like I said I still to this day have not received an email from James as he promised me he would that was in the 19th December 2023 and we are now at the 24th of February 2024 and he still has my other art deco item which he proclaimed was going into Auction on the 18th of January. Like I said at the beginning of this review on the 31st August 2023, he would give me “ the link to the auction he was putting the items into so I could see how it was going and that was NOT THE CASE.

Please think twice when using this company, as we as individuals who give our precious item to this company should not have to keep chasing them regarding our items it is down to this company to continually keep in touch with us with 100% clarity and honesty at all times, I had to do all the running and James from Olympia MayFair, London, would always have an excuse for not getting in touch, this is not a professional way to run a company and treat their customers full stop.

Sorry James if this offends you, but there should always be clarity and honesty to people who turn to you with their precious items, after all James we are the ones who help you keep your business going.
I am not prepared to be fobbed of as none of us should be as we trusted you.

Theft, scam, fraud

A watch with a purchase value of £125k is missing.
James took my watch to sell it. Since then, he's been pretending there was progress but has never been able to show any proof of progress after finding a buyer allegedly, etc.
While being very professional during our first calls and only encounter, he has since then completely changed.
I hope as a group we can manage to recover our items and get justice.
Impossible to see proof of anything, neither a picture of the watch, nor a sale document, nor an insurance paper, there's always a good reason.

FRAUDSTER

He took two of my very expensive watches last year and most likely, I will never see my property, any money or James again.
The story he tells, excuses he uses are second to none. Most likely, we are victims of a fraudster.
Lets see what we can do as a group, I left my email address on Google revies, please look there and get in touch.

Olympia Mayfair. James Charles SCAM!

I have today discovered that this man is a scam artist and have reported it to police. We were looking to sell various items of jewellery and watches found the website Olympia Mayfair on google.
James Charles came to visit us on the Isle of Man and valued our jewellery and watches. We photographed various items of ID including passport credit cards and driving licence. He came across very professionally and was very plausible. We decided to let him take the jewellery ( valued at £500k on our insurance) based upon the above and the fact we searched online and at the time there was no negative comments we could find online about the man.
We have been chasing him for payment ever since and today discovered a post on trustpilot dated 2/2/2024 where someone had been scammed by him in the same way. They had also identified james Charles as James Goatley who has had previous convictions for the same offences. I checked the photo ID I have of him and it is the same man. There are several of us on a forum now all of whom have experienced the same. He promises you the earth and has no intention of paying you a dime!
There is a blog called square miles news on google that highlights fraudsters. Do a search with the name Jamie Goatley and it comes up. Please get in touch if you have had similar issues.
I have today called the Brighton police to report this latest theft. The man is despicable please avoid him at all costs
