I’m incredibly grateful for the support and guidance they provided throughout my preparation for my Officer of the watch exam. Their tutoring played a huge part in helping me pass, and I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better team behind me.

What really stood out was the consistency of their support not just during lessons, but throughout the entire journey. They pushed me when I needed it, and celebrated every bit of progress along the way. I owe a huge part of this success to Onboard Maritime, and especially to those behind the scenes who I have never seen or can put a voice to (Jade and Harrison) are just as amazing as the tutors I have worked with on a daily basis. I couldn’t recommend them enough!

I used Onboard Maritime whilst studying for my OOW Unlimited. I would highly recommend to anybody else who will be completing any exams. I especially appreciated the daily calls and the ability to replay them in case I missed any. The resources for Part A and Part B are brilliant also.

I did my Chief Mate Unlimited SQA prep & oral prep with Onboard Maritime and I am very satisfied. The content is excellent and the tutors are highly knowledgeable and helpful. Everything is done online and you can study and participate in the live sessions from wherever you want. Both SQA prep and orals prep are highly recommended!

I did use the Onboard Maritime platform to prepare for my OOW Unlimited final Oral examinations with the MCA (both part A and B) and it was extremely useful. The online resources are comprehensive and well structured, and the group sessions were very useful, as they were themed and gave me extra focus to revise specific topics that perhaps would not have received so much of my attention otherwise. Finally the tutors are very helpful and I benefited extremely from the 1:1 sessions closer to the time of my actual oral exam. Philip, in particular, is a remarkable tutor and he was really supportive. To sum it up, I would recommend Onboard Maritime to anyone needing help preparing for their OOW exams.

This was my first time using Onboard Maritime (for Chief Mates) and I have been very impressed with the resources and the level of knowledge of the instructors. The 4 week study classes provide a good structure to the study, and include any trend in questions that have recently been asked. All instructors have a wealth of knowledge and experience, and are very approachable should you need to contact them. Having the WhatsApp group chat also provides a space to ask any questions you are a bit stuck on. Overall Onboard Maritime is the obvious choice to study with for your exams!

Excellent oral prep, the daily lessons were well structured and set up so do an hour, 30 min break then another hour so you have time to digest the lesson and take notes. I had my Masters oral exam a few days after completion of the prep and passed first time so the proof is in the pudding. I would 100% recommend.

Signed up for the Masters unlimited course in October 2025 and passed my orals December 3rd. The online content is is well structured and provides plenty of detail. I was onboard during the Q&A sessions but used the recordings to keep up pace, which was great!

Felt fully prepared by the time my exam came around.

The volume of well structured content is a great base to build upon without feeling spoon fed.
The classes get you speaking as if you are already in the next rank up.
Angus and the team keep the classes up to date and relevant to the syllabus.

Overall experience with onboard maritime was excellent. The 3 tutors Ian , Angus and Philip, have a very good, broad variety of knowledge and experience between them and they all have slightly different styles of teaching which is a great asset.

Great course and tutors. Content was excellent and really prepared me for Masters orals. The lessons get you in the headspace for answering as you should in the exam and the tutors make the content fun and engaging.

The team is supportive and engaging, and provided additional support to me in different areas where I needed help during my Orals preparation period. When I had issues with content and where the information had come from, they were able to present where the source of information had come from to clarify my concerns - something which is very critical when undertaking Orals Prep as making sure you have reliable and accurate material is critical.

I used the Onboard Maritime Management Orals Prep Course to prepare for my Masters Unlimited Oral exam. The resources that are provided for you to go through prior to the course starting are fantastic and a great way to refresh your knowledge on subjects you haven’t looked at in a while.
The course itself is brilliant, with the subject knowledge and dedication from the instructors being invaluable to helping me pass my exam (first time!). Being on the course with likeminded individuals was also of great value, allowing us all to do calls outside of class to get up to speed on speaking answers aloud and learning from different people’s experiences and areas of strength.
The biggest testament I can give this course is how well prepared and confident I felt going into the exam. If you put the work in alongside attending this course you’ll give yourself a very good chance of passing and becoming a better officer in the process!

Had a wonderful experience with Onboard Maritime. The daily tutorials are excellent as they cover key topics in the syllabus and the tutors are extremely knowledgeable while being very open to questioning. I owe a lot to Angus and the team, they really did help me achieve the OOW, from setting me on the right path and building my confidence, which was essentail in getting my knowledge across to the examiner.
