Best Early Childhood Course!

I absolutely love their A Year With My Child course! I haven’t found anything else quite like it. As a homeschool mom of three, I knew my kids didn’t need ABCs and writing yet, but there is still SO MUCH they learn from 0-5. Bilateral coordination, executive functioning, conservation of mass… all through PLAY. Such great content on development to know how to engage and support your toddler’s growing brain and body exactly where they are, while giving practical ideas to set up an environment of play and learning using simple, at-home materials and a few quality toys 🤍
Developmentally-engaging activities also = happy, creative, and independent kids and that helps me enjoy my kids more too.
I’ve already purchased the other two courses for older years!

A truly accurate view of how one can educate their child

I have found "One Hundred Toys" to be a beautiful blend of theory and reality. As a family man, the author connects with a wide audience and offers a comprehensive approach to engaging with children of all ages. He writes in a way that clearly illustrates what children need. I appreciate that he is child-centred while also providing valuable support for teachers and parents (learners).

A precious journey

Beautifully written, helpful course. It had just the right amount of stuff to do for a busy parent of 2 under 4 living in the real world, because it wasn't really about DOING an activity at all. It was about understanding what my child was up to so I could help her make the next step. If there's one thing that can take you and your child from 1-8 years old, it's this course. It's a precious journey.

An excellent resource for parents

When it comes to understanding child development and play, I believe One Hundred Toys is hands down the best resource out there. The courses, newsletters and guides are incredibly well written, interesting, informative, comprehensive... I can't praise them enough. I have learnt so much from them, from how to set up interesting activities for a child (spoiler alert: you don't necessarily need to!) to what to expect and look out for in a child's development. Fantastic. Keep up the good work, Alexis!

One of my favourite courses

One of my favourite courses, and I absolutely love it! The author has an amazing understanding of schemas and children's play. Everyone in the Early years sector should try this course as it has so much deeper information and understanding of children's development.

Great educational resource

If you have a preschooler and want to encourage them to play in a way that inspires learning and creativity, I'd recommend these courses. Good for both those short on time who just want the activities (and the activities are often ones that kids can more or less do by themselves) as well as those who are interested in the theory, it's made me think differently about the behaviour and motivations of my child.

Great course for parents of preschoolers

I'm a long term fan of One Hundred Toys who finally took the plunge last summer and joined "Get Set Five". It's been totally worth it! Lots of practical ideas about how to engage with my preschooler, understand what he's working on, and stretch those interests. I was amazed how many times I read an email from Alexis and saw my child exploring those exact ideas the next week.

Easy to read emails, practical and accessible suggestions, lifelong access, and just the right amount of theory to help you understand the "why" of each week and tailor it to your own child.

Fantastic

Onehundredtoys is absolutely fantastic. I love the simplicity and ‘doability’ of the ideas that are shared through regular emails, alongside the richness of the information which helps parents see the world from their children’s perspective. The focus is on children experiencing the joy of being children, following their interests and seeing where the play takes them. Thank you!

Creative and confidence building

My daughter and I have loved every installment of the get set five series. Watching her develop skills and confidence, using the activities and ideas suggested, has been wonderful.
I really enjoyed reading the theory behind the activites too as it allowed me to think of other ways to practice the same skills and adapt the activities to my childs interests and needs.

We’ve loved this course

I’ve loved doing Get Set Five with my daughter. I signed up when I was getting overwhelmed by Instagram and seeing ideas that just didn’t feel manageable for me.

I’ve developed a much stronger understanding of what she is capable of and how best to meet her where she’s at and choose activities that she’ll enjoy which are developmentally appropriate.

Most importantly I’ve stopped over complicating things and am much more able to see the opportunities in things we have around the house.

My daughter has ended up with a lovely craft station and place to do her writing and she’s become so much more independent!

Clear theory of child development with activities to match!

Alexis is very knowledgeable and explains the theory behind early child development whilst linking this to resources and activities that match your child’s stage and promote further learning. I appreciate his emphasis on using readily available materials and open ended play which fits in with the Steiner principles of my child’s nursery. I have used both the ‘year with my child’ and ‘get set five’ email programs which I find accessible and easy to fit with my schedule. I highly recommend them both, aswell as the guides he has produced which I have found invaluable- thanks!

Fount of knowledge

I've been following One Hundred Toys since my first son was a baby and I subscribed to their Get Set Five course this year, just receiving the last email this week. It's been brilliant to get insight from a former early years teacher, who is such a fount of knowledge - both theoretical and practical. I think there were a couple of teething problems because there was a gap in the emails at one point, but I knew it's a small family business, so I didn't worry and they fixed it! I'd like to take the toddler course next to work through with my younger son.

Course not delivered

Paid for the A year with my child course which is advertised as being a weekly email. A year later I have received 16 emails. Alexis Ralphs does not respond to emails. Awful that the course is still being advertised as this when he clearly cannot fulfil this. No refund. Avoid!!

Avoid! Do not send out your order then ignore correspondence

Pretty much the exact same experience as others here. They sent me a wrong order (a much smaller and cheaper version) and then did not respond to any emails/customer services forms I sent. There's no phone number to ring and all emails and social media messages are ignored. I had to go through PayPal to get my money back which took a very long time (as they also ignored PayPal); meanwhile my son went without his birthday present for weeks. I've seen so many others have had the same experience. Do not buy from this website!! I suspect they won't be running for much longer with all the PayPal claims they'll have against them.

Do not shop here!!!

I’ve had an awful experience with this company, do NOT shop with them. They might have gone bust 🤷🏻‍♀️ but they took my order and money and just didn’t deliver the expensive Wobbel board that I bought for my daughters birthday. Was left with no money and no present a couple of days before her birthday - thank goodness for Kidly!
