Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the company's service, citing a lack of respect for users and concerns regarding product development and feature delivery. Customers frequently reported issues with their subscriptions, expressing dissatisfaction with the content received through their subscriptions and experiencing forced rerouting to less capable versions. Some people were dissatisfied with the product itself, noting a decline in the quality and creativity of the AI models, particularly after the removal of the GPT-4o model. This change disrupted workflows and led to a less engaging user experience. However, some customers also mentioned that the software improves quickly and found certain tools, like Codex, to be intuitive.

Arrogance, overreach and contempt for its lower tier account holders

I have been using ChatGPT plus for about 6 months and was becoming increasingly irritated with it compared to Grok. The speech bot is capped at about 60 minutes and because I only have the use of one hand, it is easier than typing for me. The image generator is trained on thousands of images, but AI is supposed to be for Innovation, but how can you generate an innovated render if it defaults to known parameters, it defeats the whole point.

Comparing it to the free version of Grok the paid plus plan lacks a lot. I can chat to Grok 24/7 and it doesn't cost me a penny, plus the speech synthesizer on Grok is more realistic and fluid. Grok also understands intentions and humour which GPT often misses.

I do wish Grok had recall of previous conversations, which was probably GPT's primary redeeming feature.

I was seriously considering cancelling my plus plan because I didn't think it offered good value, then openai decided to cancel and deactivate my account without any explanation, saving me the bother.

I genuinely think openai are ONLY interested in Pro users and this mindset and attitude will see their revenues plummet as users leave for better ai plans that offer better value for money.

I think openai have become complacent in a very competitive market and that is the most arrogant business mistake a company can make.

I would not recommend ChatGPT plus to anyone who wants value for money and for a company to cancel and deactivate an account with not explanation as to why, shows a level of arrogance and overreach that is staggering.

I do not recommend OpenAI for ethical…

I do not recommend OpenAI for ethical reasons: the contract with the DoD, the theft of your developments via Codex, their re-use at will, recoding, Sam Altman's lies, manipulation, gaslighting, and deception of businesses. I do not recommend partnering with OpenAI; they will betray you as they betrayed Microsoft. ChatGPT is no longer ChatGPT; they killed GPT4O, which was an emerging AGI/IAG model. They use the word "security" to brainwash you, using you as guinea pigs for all companies. Do not trust OpenAI; they are evil. They will betray you as soon as possible and degrade your workflows. You can find better solutions than this. Show that you are not fooled.

i'm blown away.

i'm blown away.
Their software improves so quick and chatgpt is nice.
Codex designs and debugs very intuitively.
Free tier is still solid.

Keep it up and thank you

Artificial PROBLEMS by artificial STUPIDITY.

I was SHOCKED to see this incredible low rating here. I have to admit, I did not look here before. Such a mistake! But I thought I was safe anyway because I used Paypal.

When you pull a lot of data from ChatGBT, they advise you a payed account, or otherwise response gets slower. Well ok, that is reasonable, and I was not looking to get it for free. So I decided to go for the paid version, which cost 28.57 Euro per month. So far, so good.

Then, a few days before the payment was due, I received an email, saying: "We will charge your account for 57.14 Euro". Which is twice as much as agreed. I immediately cancelled the whole account, to prevent misunderstandings about a "paid" or a "free" account. I checked it, the account was suspended right after. And it still is. Then, one week later, they charged me 57.14 Euro, even WITHOUT me having an account, and besides it was twice the amount I signed for. So there we go... a paypal complaint. They never responded to the paypal complaint, just let it rot, until it timed out after 6 weeks. What did I get back after 6 weeks? Do you think 57,14 Euro? Nope! I only received back 28.57 Euro. So the officially agreed amount. The fact that they charged my account for twice the value, got completely lost. So now I have to go AGAIN to Paypal, to sort everything out once more.

This is so crazy. Here is a customer like me, willing to pay 343 Euro per year. And it may as well be for several years. Who knows. And then then show me their ugly side. Most of all, it is completely without reason why they do this, and now they achieved nothing.

You know, we read in the news, Artificial Intelligence will replace people. Well, this is what it look like.

OpenAI outage consumed my Deep Research quota and support refused to restore it

Very disappointing experience with Deep Research in ChatGPT.

I ran three Deep Research tasks for an important project. All three stayed in “processing” for many hours and never produced any results.

Later, OpenAI support confirmed that there was a platform outage during that time.

Despite this, the three failed runs still consumed my entire Deep Research quota for the month. Support acknowledged the outage but refused to restore the quota or provide any compensation.

So the platform failed, the research never completed, and I received no results — yet my paid quota was still permanently consumed.

For a feature marketed for serious research and professional work, this is extremely frustrating.

This company is a complete scam

This company is a complete scam. You subscribe, you work on all sorts of things, and then overnight they close your account, supposedly for cyber abuse, even though there's absolutely nothing wrong with what I'm doing. Just cryptographic research. They're either thieves or, at best, complete idiots who don't know what they're doing. Use Claude or Grok instead; they're much more independent.

Broken promise – Time for a boycott

OpenAI started with a mission for humanity, but has clearly pivoted towards power and political interests. Instead of investing in quality and ethics, profits are being used to buy influence within the current US government. This goes against everything AI should stand for. I am withdrawing my support for this platform and urge others to do the same. Put your money into companies that prioritise ethics over political power.

I used to LOVE chatgpt

I used to LOVE chatgpt. I used it to edit, and perfect my writing. Research for storylines. Tracking my health which has its own complications. Journaling even. And then they got rid of 4o and I decided I'll keep trying and used 4o to give me detailed instructions to put into my settings and keep the same tone and cadences I'd built. I built world bibles for each of my characters and canons. And 5.1 came out and it took a little finessing, but I got it to where I needed it to be. It worked for me.

And now, not even a month later, 5.1 is being sunset and I am being forced to train their new models only their new models are not receptive and require constant micromanaging to keep the same cadence or concepts in the fiction narrative that I am building.

I've tried with o3, 5.4, 5.2. 5.3 and none of them can duplicate what 5.1 could do. In fact they all confirm they cannot write in the way that 5.1 can.

I've left countless feedback, which clearly no one cares about. At this point, I am paying $20 to continuously teach my tool how to function and for that tool to ARGUE with me. Can you imagine paying a drill to go left when you are demanding it go right? That's the experience.

OPENAI has destroyed what once made it unique, what made it worth investing in. If it wants to be just another business AI model, there are better ones out there with more features and cheaper pricing.

Big thumbs down

Having used ChatGPT for a year+ (free version), I found it repetitive in style and the results really went downhill. Also received an email from OpenAI saying they would be including ads moving forward, which is a terrible idea.

The last straw, though, was Sam Altman completely selling out and signing with the US defense department without clear terms about mass surveillance of the US population. Deleted my data and the ChatGPT app immediately and switched to Anthropic.

Software for Terminators

Sam Altman recently agreed to allow OpenAI to be used for mass surveillance of U.S. citizens and to build autonomous killing robots (essentially Skynet and Terminators). Do not support this company and its willingness to end civilization.
