I’ve had to use O’penlys claims service…
I’ve had to use O’penlys claims service twice now. Both times were amazing. I really can’t say enough about the company. When I first had to make a claim, I went online to find their phone number. (It’s my first house and it was my first claim) I noticed reviews for the company and decided to read some. I thought uh-oh, this is gonna suck. Seems like the reviews all said negative. I went into it thinking it was gonna be a pain. The only pain that was caused was the stress the reviews caused.. The moment I was assigned an adjuster, they removed all the stress that I had. The second time was a fire in the garage, and Natalie was the definition of a caring, sympathetic friend, while being all business where it came to getting the information needed so there was no delay in getting. Things approved and fixed. Like we’re all taught, don’t trust other people’s options, formulate your own. I know that if I’d seen those reviews BEFORE I ok’d O’penly for my home, I would not have chosen it. And it would’ve been my loss.

New to Openly
We are new to Openly, however their onboarding team has made the transition to working with them and assisting our clients with solutions have been exceptionally easy. Their platform/software is intuitive to work with and if we have any questions or concerns they do answer their phones. I would recommend Openly. Barb

Openly is easy to navigate but the…commissions aren't worth my time!!
Openly is easy to navigate but the commissions are TERRIBLE! Openly is the last carrier I choose if I can't find anyone else.
Openly May be Okay for Simple Insurance but Beware of Anything Complex
We insured our home with Openly under an HO-5 policy, their highest and most comprehensive coverage tier, typically marketed for high-value homes. We have owned the property since 2022. Our initial annual premium was approximately $1,900; by the time we left Openly, it had risen to $4,400.
Despite carrying top-tier coverage, the claims experience was extremely poor.
Openly provides no meaningful access to an agent or advocate. Communication was slow, fragmented, and largely limited to email, even when issues were time-sensitive. When problems arose — including lost checks, delayed work, and third-party complications — there was little guidance or proactive support from the carrier.
Most concerning was Openly’s failure to decisively act after we revoked third-party claim involvement in writing. Rather than protecting the policyholder, the company continued to defer to that third party, introducing unnecessary risk and prolonging the claim. We were left to manage issues that should have been handled by the insurer.
From date of loss to resolution, the process stretched nearly seven months, with work left outstanding due to weather. Ultimately, resolution required us to involve mortgage servicers directly and impose our own controls just to move the claim forward.
Compounding this, after insuring our cedar roof for two years, Openly abruptly declined to continue covering it and significantly increased our premium — despite determining the roof was not damaged enough to replace. We subsequently moved to another carrier that charges about $1,600 less per year and had no issue insuring the same roof.
Openly may work for very simple situations, but even with an HO-5 policy, their lack of advocacy, slow responsiveness, and weak handling of third-party issues make them difficult to recommend.
