I purchased a set of used binoculars

I purchased a set of used binoculars. Found out they are no longer made and they arrived damaged in a way that made them Un-Useable. Opt should never have re-sold these garbage binoculars. Opt is a rip off.

Helpful staff, great prices, covid sucks for on hand inventory

OPT staff is very helpful. Answers questions quickly. Prices are good and the 5% off is nice too. I will continue to buy my astronomy equipment from OPT if and when it gets back in stock. One thing I don't like is having to pay up front for an item that is back ordered. I think a partial down payment should suffice until the item becomes available.

Finally was able to speak to a person…

Finally was able to speak to a person about shipping delays. I know a lot of people have the same situation where they ordered months ago and have received radio silence from OPT regarding their order. I'd like to share my convo with them to help assure people but this is in no way an excuse for their actions. After being on hold for hours the day before we finally had a woman answer the phone. She couldn't have been nicer and was helpful. She confirmed our order was still back logged but they were still shipping out orders daily. She gave us an estimate that it would still be a few more months and later confirmed it won't be until august when the order is shipped. for reference we placed the order Dec 7th. This is of course not ideal but at least we felt assured this wasn't a scam or that they had closed. I wish they would do a better job at updating customers on their status and they should not have taken orders if they couldn't fill them in a reasonable timeframe.
I hope this answers some questions to others and maybe sways so concerns.

I ordered some telescope parts 2 months…

I ordered some telescope parts 2 months ago. I contacted them for a refund because it’s been too long and I need to buy the parts as soon as possible somewhere else that actually has them. They charged my credit card immediately upon placing the order. Usually when you order something the charge is made only once it’s shipped. I’m going to ask once more, then dispute the charges on my credit card. Don’t buy anything here.

I received a defective item and…pulled teeth to get my money back

I received a defective item and contacted them.
Contacted twice.
Called the third time on hold 45 minutes.
Chat stated they would contact the manufacturer before providing an exchange.
I asked for a refund at week 2.
Asked fir a refund again the following day.
Third day I chatted them up after no response.
Said they would send a return label.
Never received. Called to talk to management.
Label received.
Never again with this company.

I hope they go out of business, sooner the better

They sent the wrong item. I requested a return authorization on Feb. 17. They replied by email the next day stating: "Thank you for you response! I have forwarded this information to our shipping department so that we could begin the process for your return. Once I hear back from them, I will provide you with the instructions for your return/exchange. We sincerely apologize for sending you the wrong cable. Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns."

Today is March 30 and I haven't heard from them since. No emails, no phone calls answered, nothing.

Avoid this 'business' at all cost.

During COVID

During COVID, I understand the delays in stock and shipping - Optcorp was responsive as they could be and I was pleased with their customer service and handling of a discontinued item that was faulty. They sent me a label and processed my refund efficiently.

No complaints, well done.

OPT shipped the filter set I ordered on the same day of purchase. It arrived in a timely manner, well packaged, and undamaged. I have only done limited business with OPT, but haven’t experienced the awful customer service others have complained about. Interest in astronomy has increased dramatically as a result of the COVID lockdowns. This, as well as slow downs in the supply chains have most definitely had a negative impact on product availability, and in some cases customer service. There is no excuse for the later, but this was not my experience for this order.

Excellent

I have ordered many items from OPT, they have always let me know the status of items I have ordered. They usually ship within a few days for stock Items. Im glad they have a great selection to choose from!

Wrong item

Ordered a 1.25" moon filter. Got a 2" moon filter.
I have emailed now 4 times counting my new one today. No answer so far. All I want is what I ordered.

I purchased a EQ6-R Pro Sky Watcher…

I purchased a EQ6-R Pro Sky Watcher mount from OPT
The service was great. Good advice and amazingly fast shipping. Everything arrived in perfect shape
The mount works extremely well. Easy to set up and use and a good user manual and very solidly made and very stable. It is a little on the heavy side. The carrying handle on the mount is a nice feature. The knobs on the mount are very easy to use and are very heavy duty
It has very good go to’s and the tracking is very good
It also is fairly quiet which is nice. I have throughly enjoyed using it and would certainly recommend it

Excellent Service

OPT Telescopes provided excellent service with produce delivery done in a timely manner. The merchandise was delivered in good condition and it has performed as expected. I will ceertainly do business with OPT again as the need arises.

I had a great experience with OPT

I had a great experience with OPT! Telescopes have been on consistent backorder since the summer due to supply chain delays, new pandemic hobbyists, and the recent convergence. I knew that going in because I researched before I made the purchase. I spoke with Ron about the best beginner accessories to go with my husband’s new telescope. He was really friendly and helpful. The accessories he recommended were reasonably priced and nothing too obtuse. I know it’ll be awhile before we receive the telescope, but it will be well worth the wait!

Great telescopes and customer service!

Purchased a new Radian Raptor 61, and although it was on delay due to demand it arrived perfectly and is an amazing wide field refractor to image with! OPT customer support kept me notified along the entire process. Would definitely purchase from again.

NOT the customer service from the past

Sadly OPT does not have the service that it once had, I purchased my first telescope through OPT 20 years ago and was ready to purchase my next. Tried to call on the telephone several times and I was on hold and never got anyone to answer.
I tried the email route and wanted a little advice and dialogue regarding my next telescope which I was ready to purchase. Got a response but did not answer any of my questions.
I simply gave up on them and ordered from B&H. Sadly I don't think they are into service anymore and will go elsewhere.

Worst customer support.

They claim they have great support. It is close to zero. IF you can get them on the phone after holding for a half hour it would be great. Most times it just hangs up on you.
My $1300 scope was dropped apparently during shipping. First promised to replace it. Now won’t even answer an email. NEVER AGAIN!
