I either pick an agency who does PAYE via their own company and parallel to this, I do freelancing where I pay my tax after the hours I worked. I have my own accountant. Nice and simple. Involving a middle-man like any umbrella company is Risky. Why would you give your power away? Do your research and do not get involved with these companies.
