False advertisement and terrible customer service

I purchased wood flooring adhesive online, the image on the product stated this would cover 22m2, the tub that arrive was actually 12m2 when I contacted the company about this issue they simply didn't care. After many messages backwards and forwards I was offered 15% off if I purchased another tub - unlikely as I'm not willing to give more of my money to this company. I should have read the reviews first.

Want to 'ceruse' Sycamore

Want to 'ceruse' Sycamore - forget it- it simply does not work. Followed directions to the letter and just got a one tone grey all over. Thankfully I just bought a small amount to try out. Used Fumed intense as undercoat and got a uneven finish. Used super white 2c as an overcoat and just turned the whole thing grey. Happy to move on and try another product.

Coverage terrible

I hope to hell this stuff works. Osmo decking oil, quoted off their website should cover approx. "24m²/L with one coat". I have approx 20m² of decking and 1 2.5L tin should do my sized dekcing twice over, I am half way through and I've used 3/4 of the tin. Not helpful at the cost.

I have managed to get it a bit further, by trying to spread it as far as I possibily can but I'm wondering if it will affect it's proformance.

I'm now in a position, where I'm forced to have to buy more just to complete the job.. at nearly £70 for the tin, I am not pleased, espesherly, it's a 2 coat recommendation.

So sorry to see your concerns with the coverage of the Osmo Decking Oil. If your deck has a smooth texture then as you say, 1 x 2.5l tin should easily coat 20m² with the required 2 x thin brush coats. If the texture is not smooth, or the wood is very thirsty/ weathered this could influence the coverage. The can label attempts to highlight this as follows: ‘Due to their surface properties, ribbed or grooved as well as rough (sawn) wood surfaces absorb more pro duct per square metre than smooth surfaces.’ .You can find this on the web site page too. Nevertheless, If you still have concerns then I’m sure the Osmo Tech guys would be happy to take a look into it. They can be contacted via email… advice@osmouk.com

Osmo Decking oil - bad economics

I have bought Osmo Clear Satin Teak Decking oil, 2.5L. Coverage per litre according to instruction approx 24 m2 (one coat). In my case it was 6.2 m2/litre (one coat, additional area of groove walls included). My deck is 8 years old, so has some cracks. But still 4 times difference is not acceptable. Very bad economics for expensive product (87 GBP for 2.5 litre can in B&Q). Needed 4 cans instead of 1. Switching to cheaper and more honest product.

Hello. Thank you for your feedback, and I’m very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the performance of our product.

We understand how frustrating it must be to need significantly more product than expected. The coverage rates provided on the tin (approximately 24m² per litre for one coat) are based on smooth, planed, or sanded surfaces in good condition. Particularly decking that is cracked, rough, or porous — can absorb much more product, often leading to reduced coverage.

In your case, an 8-year-old deck may have absorbed far more oil than newer wood, especially if it had been recently pressure-washed or left exposed to the elements. These factors can make the wood more porous and increase product absorption significantly.

That said, we do appreciate your comments and will pass this feedback on. If you’d like to discuss this further, we’d be happy to help — please feel free to contact our customer service team directly.

The best

This stuff is great. No more black marks on our wood kitchen worktop. We top it up a few times a year and use the cleaner every now and then.

Osmo top oil

I really try not to review stuff, but after so many years of using other stuff, I decided to try osmo top oil.

So the context is I’ve being doing wood stuff for 40 years and a friend suggested I use top oil.

After reading the reviews and the application process, thought I’d give it a go.

My overall impression for the price is don’t bother, it’s a poor quality finish even after all of the hyperbole.

Save yourself money and simply apply danish oil,,, which is far superior.

Colour was way off and attracted mould.

Ordered Jupiter colour which looked completely different on the Osmo U.K. website and on all other websites. It’s basically just cream and I absolutely hate it. Took around three coats so very expensive and it’s developed a coating of black mould despite being open to the air. Very weird. Haven’t experienced that with far cheaper materials. Very disappointed.

Worktops Like New

I recently decided to refinish my kitchen worktop, the previous finish was unsightly and messy to apply. I contacted Osmo as to the suitability of firstly using their stripper as the existing surface would be hard to remove with just a sander and then apply their Top Oil.
Craig from their customer service sent me detailed instructions as to the use of both products, the finish is perfect and so easy to apply, wish I'd heard of this product years ago.

Technical and service/delivery advice

Technical and service/delivery advice: I have talked to a couple of people from Osmo this week during a very difficult global crisis and they have been second to none with quality of advice, professionalism, very personable and a had great deal of patience to my questions and needs. Service time has been instant, no queue, and thus all round has to be one of the best companies I've dealt with ever. I had a further email query and as a result they rang me straight back. A showcase of excellence in relation to product, company values and customer service. I sound like I'm perhaps biased BUT I'm a customer who has been treated with importance - regardless if you are a large customer or just someone trying to improve their house like myself who wants good value as a baseline.

I have had the pleasure of speaking…

I have had the pleasure of speaking with Paul at Osmo UK who made time for all my questions regarding the maintenance of my engineered wooden flooring throughout the house. One of the suppliers of Osmo products sadly advised me to purchase the wrong product and he gave me peace of mind and a few options of how to put it right. He is dedicated to the brand and understands wooden floors! Thank you! Leticia Smith

Spent around £200 to coat a cabin

Spent around £200 to coat a cabin, within months we were getting leaks, spoke to 2 different paint experts who said Osmo is not suitable for Cornish weather, I contacted Osmo and got nowhere, they kept making suggestions that had already been tried and then not reading emails correctly and making mistakes. If you look on there own website most of the products that are on show are inside and not subject to weather, I now have a lot of work correcting what Osmo have done to my cabin and a lot of expense. Never again would I use this product or company.
