There is a 33.30 Euro charge to your…

There is a 33.30 Euro charge to your card if you forget to tap your card at the end of your trip.

To make it worse, the card tapping poles at the Schiphol Airport train station is located above the platforms, up the escalators and, positioned very inconspicuously awy from the escalator entrance/exit.

It's almost as if they're designed that way to make more people forget to check out when arriving at the station and subsequently pay a fine. Avoid OVPay if possible.

Ensure when using Netherlands public transport you turn off your NFC.

Refund never received as promised

Charged incorrectly for a trip. Corrected this on the app and was told I would receive a refund. This never happened. Calls to the service center are dropped and nobody can find my refund of EUR 20.

Customer service form seems nobody work for it.

11. December 2025 was my first time use OVpay in Netherland, somehow I suddenly got a 20 Euro fine (I figured out it possible cause of one failure check-in), directly be charged from dibit card. I wrote customer service form on 16.12.2015, but till today 30.12.2025 haven't got any reply. Before I left Netherland I've been to OVpay service counter in Sloterdijk Station, but the agent told me, sorry she can't do anything with it, gave me a customer service phone number, I have to call and explain what's wrong.

Great customer service

I accidentally tapped different cards for checking in and out, so both cards charged €20. I called them to request support and within 3 minutes they are processing the refund. Very good and polite service

One star is even too much

One star is even too much! Absolutely disgraceful that as well as rapping when you get on you also got to tap when you get off! I paid 8 or 12 euros for single trips without realizing! In Italy with the similar system you only need to tap in not tap out too so you don't expect this ridiculous double tapping system for which there is no need whatsoever, they could easily set it up to work with a single tap! Of course tourists will get regularly caught out like this! It is obviously done on purpose! Disgraceful!!

Unfair €20 Charge for International Travelers

Like many others here, I was unfairly charged by OVpay simply for accessing the Amsterdam Centraal station to board my train to Berlin. OVpay allows passengers to check in with a credit card, but if you travel abroad, there’s no way to check out since their equipment doesn’t exist outside the Netherlands. As a result, they automatically charge a €20 “correction fee” for supposedly “forgetting” to check out. Absolutely ridiculous!

Worst company service ever

Worst company service ever. They charged me €20 even though I checked in with a pre-paid ticket. I emailed them about it over a month ago but they still haven't replied, meanwhile my €20 is still gone...!

OVpay is a fraudulent company

OVpay is a fraudulent company. They unlawfully deducted €10 from my bank account. I tried calling their expensive customer service number, which charges €1 per minute, but I couldn’t get through because they kept me on hold for an unreasonable amount of time. I then contacted my bank to ask whether I could get a refund or block OVpay from making further withdrawals. Unfortunately, the bank told me that I must resolve the issue directly with OVpay. To date, I have not received my money back. This company seems to have too much power. If they were to deduct €2,000 from your account, there would be nothing you could do about it.

SCAMMERS ! Stay away

PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND STAY WELL CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!
Scam company. I purchased a virtual travel card from GetYourGuide . All good . But had trouble using it on the scanners because it kept directing me to the Google pay wallet. Some days later I realised that the scammers ( OVpay .nl) had attempt to take multiple monies from my account. Even if you haven’t used them and have used a different company they will hack you and try to steal.

Incorrect debit on my bank account

OVPay debited my account with 20 euros even though I had already bought train tickets which were scanned at the entry point. They make it near impossible to have 2-way communication via email or chat. But after about 2 weeks they have refunded me after many requests from my side.
