Their fees are deducted before you receive any tax refund.

Before enrolling in the Ownwell service, thoroughly read their service agreement. They help reduce your property assessment, but they don’t disclose that after that, it’s your responsibility to get a refund from the county. They pre-calculate the fees based on the new assessment and collect them from you even if you don’t receive a refund.

Fully useless

Fully useless. I should have claimed my own protest and the least is anyway they'll reduce 5K just for the sake of claim even though the county does not agree with the proofs you carry. The same thing this junk company did, calculated the tax for that 5K and charged 25% of it from me.

Had bad expereince with ownwell

Had bad expereince with ownwell. Don't recomend onwell for any one based on my experience. They didn't save and cost me a lot of tax increase; and choose to ignore filing for some properties. Better to file on your own than use ownwell service.

Subscription Scam

Their subscription is totally worthless. They dispute your property tax just like every other service and charge a percent of what they save you. They claim to negotiate other bills and want a percent of those “savings” also, but you pay and don’t save. A terrible company, find a stand alone property tax dispute service and leave these scammers alone.

WORTHLESS, NO communication whatsoever!

I never received one word from Ownwell about what they filed for my appeal, nor that it had been denied so that I could continue the process. I had to follow up on my own. Utterly WORTHLESS! They have now informed me that they have NO obligation to provide documentation or any other information and once you sign with them, you release your rights to property tax information for years to come unless and until you cancel! Everyone who considers using Ownwell better be sure to have deed protection! In my case there was NO hearing because Ownwell AGREED to a 60% increase in my tax payment without consulting me at all! From what I can determine their "property tax expert" is from another country and has a background in car sales!

I would not recommend their property appeal services

I would not recommend their property assessment service.

I received my 2024 tax assessment and paid the tax. In May, 2025, I receive a letter from Ownwell stating that if I had used their service for 2024, they estimated my property value would be over $47,000 less. I received my 2025 county appraisal and it increased over $92,000 from 2024, so I hired Ownwell for appeal of 2025 amount.

Ownwell accepted the challenge, but I found three concerning matters:
1) Poor communication--While they did notify via email that they had summitted appeal and later that appeal had been accepted, NEVER did they state what the appeal amount was or how it was determined.
2) The amount of their appeal was only $21,000 less than the county appraisal, resulting in a tax savings of $168. That seem piddling compared to their marketing saying I was over appraised in 2024 by $47,000 and the county raised the appraisal another $92,000 in 2025. IMO, the appeal should have been much greater, but due to no communication from Ownwell RE the amount of the appeal, I had no knowledge that they were taking the easy way out/taking low hanging fruit until after the entire process was complete.
3) Upon rendering a bill, Ownwell applied 35% to the paltry $168 tax savings as expected. However, they added another $20 for the county freezing the appraisal into the future. Ownwell had NO effect in obtaining that freeze. A freeze has ALWAYS been the county policy in the 43 years I have lived in the house. But Ownwell would not back down.

Another interesting point is if I visit the Ownwell website today and enter my address to show Ownwell's estimate of potential tax savings, it shows $604-- 3.6 times the real savings of only $168 they just achieved. Great marketing, but poor reality.

Bottom line, I will not use Ownwell service again. I believe that even I could do better than the so called "professionals" at Ownwell. As a result, I would not recommend their services

Absolute waste of time

Despite providing tons of evidence of severe damage to my house, as well as proof I sold the house for $160,000, they “concluded” my appraisal was correct at $258,000. So they expect me to pay taxes on a house incorrectly valued $100k over reality, despite me clearly proving otherwise. Waste of time.

No Reduction at all

I received a letter that their "in depth analysis" estimated that our assessed value was $32,164.00 over and we were potentially overpaying taxes by $708. And guess what? They had the value lowered by FIFTEEN DOLLARS! Which resulted in exactly $0 tax savings. Waste of time.

For a reasonable fee, they save you countless hours of hassle—because let’s face it, your time is money. Ownwell’s service is a no-brainer. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
