It was crowded and very uncomfortable…
It was crowded and very uncomfortable with too many people in the bus.
In addition to that, the guide Andre was very annoying saying “Hummm”, “Hummm”, very loudly every five seconds while he was talking in the bus.
I could not take it anymore so that I had to wear sound proof earphones in my ears.
You should have individual adapter with which people can have a choice of listening or not.
Also, I thought the guide would lead the group to Hallstatt and explain things along the way on foot.
There was no explanation on anything. He just bragged about his wife and family and where he was born and how he grew up.
We were not interested in the guide “Andre” but “Hallstatt”, history, nature, industry, people, culture, etc.
This tour was the worst that I had ever in my life and ruined our day.
My wife and I had expected a great deal of joy and experience, but we basically experienced the greed of the company charging outrageous amount of money on transportation of almost 80 people by dropping off in Hallstatt and bringing them back to Salzburg for almost $100 per person. It was only worth $30, if that.
This company ruined our 40th anniversary trip. I demand our money back.
On the side note, PLEASE be ware of those thieves and cheaters in Hallstatt.
In Hallstatt, there is no bathroom other than pay-to-use bathrooms. It costs one Euro to get in. Every merchant there is greedy. They only accept cash. If you want to pay by dollar, they demand $1.25 for every Euro. Based on exchange rate, it is a highway robbery.
Also, people are very rude!! There is no greetings, people smoke everywhere!!
Please use public transportation, if you can. At least, you won’t feel taken advantage of.

Regarding the guide, Andre, we are genuinely sorry that his style of communication did not meet your expectations. We strive to work with professional and engaging guides, but we also understand that personal preferences can vary greatly. Your comments about the tone, content, and delivery of the guiding will be shared internally and addressed with him directly. At the same time, we regret that the information provided did not focus enough on the history, culture, and significance of Hallstatt, which is indeed what most of our guests are hoping to experience.
Concerning the structure of the tour, we would like to clarify that this specific experience is designed primarily as a transportation service with general commentary during the journey, followed by free time in Hallstatt to explore independently. We understand that this may not have been sufficiently clear and are sorry if this led to disappointment. Your suggestion regarding individual audio systems is appreciated and will be taken into consideration for future improvements.
With regard to pricing, we completely understand your frustration. However, we would like to kindly point out that the pricing of the tour reflects a variety of factors, including transportation, operational costs, and local regulations. Unfortunately, we do not have any influence over the general price level, infrastructure, or policies in Hallstatt itself. This includes public facilities, payment methods, or pricing practices by local businesses. Hallstatt is one of Austria’s most visited destinations, and conditions there—especially during busy periods—are largely determined by local authorities and tourism demand.
We are truly sorry that your perception of the value did not match your expectations. However, after careful review, we regret to inform you that we are unable to offer a refund in this case, as the service was delivered as described.
That said, your feedback is extremely important to us. It helps us identify areas where we can improve and better align our services with guest expectations. We deeply regret that we were not able to provide you with the memorable and joyful experience you had hoped for on such a special trip.

The bus driver was reckless
The bus driver was reckless, driving incredibly fast in rainy conditions — even going off the road at one point. It was scary and made it difficult to enjoy the tour.
The information given about the movie and shooting locations was good, but I thought the tour would be more lively with joyful singing and trivia. Kind of a downer - and I could have just visited the sites myself.

The Best Sound of Music Tour ever!
My husband and I enjoyed the Sound of Music tour yesterday, and we had the fabulous April & Hachi looking after us. April was absolutely amazing, full of facts, the most incredible singing voice and just a joy to be around. April took us to all the special locations and made each stop special. We were blessed with snow falling on our way to Mondsee, which made the trip even more special. Hachi was our driver, and he was amazing too! Would definitely join this interactive tour again! Loved it!

A wonderful Tour
I was part of a full day tour - Hallstatt and The Sound of Music. I had a wonderful day.! Hallstatt was just right with a beautiful ride each way and a relaxed amount of time to enjoy the history and sights of the area.
The SoM tour was so insightful a m d out "Tour Master", Alaska was exceptional - her knowledge, breadth of experience I once couple with her ability to bring everybody together was terrific, especially the Singing!

I took the tour with friend who is an Austrian and who confirmed with me exactly what the tour guide said - like most Austrians, she had never watched the sound of music. It is one if not the most favourite of my films.
The scenery and commentary allowed for my experience of the Sound of Music to be enhanced even further. 4 hours of absolute escapism and self indulgence.

For one thing I got there a few minutes…
For one thing I got there a few minutes late , my absolute 100% fault. Somehow thought started at 230pm not 2
The ataff at the station went well out of their way to tend to us gave us quick instructions on how to catch up. They made a total disappointment ( again, my fault) a delight! We were able to reunite and had a great time. Very informative Gracious funny !!

Fantastic experience
My sister, best friend and I dreamt way back in 1992 of one day going to Salzburg and doing the Sound of Music tour and this week that dream became reality! Alenka was our tour guide and we couldn’t have wished for better. She is so knowledgeable of both the real life story and the movie..and she was enthusiastic, passionate and fun … and ensured our experience was the very best we could have. The tour was full of participation with anecdotes and singing and trivia. We saw all the locations and had a lovely trip out to the beautiful lakes which I wasn’t expecting. I highly recommend this tour and hopefully you’ll be lucky and get Alenka as your guide.

Disappointing
After previously doing this tour we had such an amazing time we decided to bring family back to do it.
This time we were extremely disappointment. The tour guide was quite rude and not informative at all. It seemed as though he was going through the motions and talked more about films generally rather than the sound of music.
Overall we were very upset as this tour was the reason of our return trip.

We loved our Sound of Music Tour!
We loved our Sound of Music Tour! Our guide David was so fun and knowledgable! We learned so much about the history of the movie, Salzburg, and the real Von Trapp Family! We enjoyed singing the songs while driving through the mountains and lakes. The tour was very thorough! We sometimes felt rushed during the stops, but understood we had to keep a tight schedule. Our driver, Alex, kept us safe and got us to all the places on time!

Bad technical equipment - nice guide
Nice and very friendly guide, but not very humorous. Technical equipment was really bad. Videos were interrupted and stopped several times.
Good length of tour. Stops well-chosen, however, not all sights were combined with a stop so we had to take pictures from the bus while driving several times (e.g. Fuschlsee, Wolfgangssee)
