A full day experience, would recommend half
The guide was lovely and informative however quite a long time dropped off in locations that felt a little wasted at times. Group had to ask for suggestions on what to do and where to go, expecting to receive recommendations. We did the full day hallstat and sound of music tour. We were a little disappointed in the sound of music component of the tour. Expected a larger bus with atmosphere and excitement. Of course being in winter brings a different experience. The sound of music tour followed a similar road as the morning tour with same stories and would've thought would have incorporated both into one. Would not recommend the sound of music tour but would recommend the hallstat tour.

The tour guide and content were wonderful Mitch was enthusiastic, passionate, interesting and just made the tour fun and light hearted. It was a wonderful experience for our group of 13 American tourists.

The Sound of Music is one of the movies I watched during my childhood that left a lasting impression on my heart, and I never imagined that I would one day visit the place where this movie was filmed. Thank you to our guide Jose Francisco, who is full of energy while sharing the life stories of the characters in the movie. You can feel that the story of the Von Trapp family is deeply rooted in his heart, and you can sense that telling the Von Trapps’ life story is not just a job for him, but something that truly comes from his heart. Excellent info, fun sights to see
Definitely recommend this for anyone who's ever seen the Sound of Music! We had a lovely tour guide from Ireland who told us all about the history of the movie on our way to and while at the stops. Great mix of talking, singing, and watching a documentary throughout the bus rides. Really interesting information about the movie production side of things, behind the scenes, and evolution of The Sound of Music, both the on stage musical and the movie. I would suggest not going in the winter. Though I still thoroughly enjoyed the tour, it would have felt much more magical in the late spring/summer, when you can really feel connected to when the movie was shot and have better foliage and scenic shots. We went in late December and it was a bit dreary -- not much snow, just some frost once you get up in the hills, cold/windy, and no sun.

Really excellent private sound of music tour
Really excellent 2 hour sound of music private tour - we learnt so much and visited places we would have no way of doing otherwise in a day in Salzburg. Highly recommend for quality of information, flexibility and friendliness. Importantly this firm and their guides are clearly very well established and known locally which makes a big difference.
