Parkway Surgery Center
I have been a patient of Parkway Surgery Center for approximately 18 years, during which time my experiences were consistently satisfactory. However, my recent treatment at this facility has resulted in significant and ongoing harm.
The physician who previously performed my spinal ablations retired, and subsequent procedures were performed by a different doctor. I underwent ablations at T10, T11, L4, and L5 to address what was, at the time, a minor and manageable spinal discomfort.
The initial ablation procedure, performed around October–November 2025, resulted in severe and unanticipated post-procedural pain, which was substantially worse than my pre-existing condition. Despite having a scheduled international flight on December 4, 2025, I continued to experience persistent and escalating pain upon returning to Asia, where I reside.
Due to the severity of my condition, I returned to the United States on January 23, 2026, to seek further medical evaluation. The treating physician recommended an additional procedure described as an intraosseous basivertebral nerve ablation involving heat destruction at the L4 and L5 vertebrae. I consented to this procedure based on the physician’s representation that it would alleviate my symptoms.
Following this second procedure, my condition deteriorated significantly. I adhered strictly to all post-operative instructions. Prior to these procedures, I maintained an active lifestyle, including walking over two miles daily, performing routine tasks without limitation, and retaining full mobility.
At present, I experience constant and severe pain. My mobility is substantially impaired, as I am unable to walk more than two blocks without significant leg fatigue and discomfort. I am also unable to remain seated for longer than 15 minutes due to pain. On a subjective pain scale, my condition has worsened from approximately 2/10 prior to treatment to 10+/10 post-treatment.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Parkway Surgery Center. I strongly advise prospective patients to seek a second medical opinion before undergoing similar procedures at this facility.
As a direct result of the treatment received, my quality of life has been severely diminished. The outcome has had a profound and negative impact on my ability to function and maintain the lifestyle I previously enjoyed.
