The folks at Paul Parkman make some beautifully crafted made to order shoes. I fell in love with the offerings and was eager to own a pair as soon as possible. Central location for manufacturing of PP is Turkey I believe and I am situated in the U.A.E. PP does not have an authorized reseller/distributor in my region yet, so I had to discuss and ask about shipping methods, tracking availability and more importantly, sizing.

How can you order a shoe blindly without finding the correct size?. Well PP offered some excellent measuring tips to which I obliged and sent back the results. I solely took the responsibility and risk of ordering like this even though I know I have a very pronounced and wider than average foot shape. Also PP's return policy is excellent so I did not foresee an issue.
The shoes arrived and looked immaculate! brilliant color, excellent patina. Unfortunately my fears came true and the shoe would not fit my clumsy feet. PP was extremely gracious in offering to receive the shoes back and to begin discussing further ideas in order to make a custom shoe mold for me. Seeing as this would be rather difficult to do over the phone, I asked if I could provide a custom shoe mold to which my current and all future orders could made with, thus guaranteeing perfect fit all the time. PP was more than happy to offer this service and to accept to link the custom shoe mold to my account and store the molds in their archives for future orders. I sent the original unworn pair back to them along with my molds and hey presto 15 days later a complete built to order, bespoke Paul Parkman shoe arrived at my door. Looking as immaculate as before and this time with an absolutely perfect fit!!! I fell in love with the shoes. I have already ordered a second pair to be made to my custom size.

The above experience sounds a little long winded and maybe not as smooth as "click-pay-recieve-wear" but consider that this was a very special case (with a very special shaped foot) and not only did PP offer several solutions but was also gracious enough to accept third party molds into their archive and make a shoe for me. And through all this with constant communication, clear instructions and a willingness to accommodate my peculiar demands.

Suffice to say, I am one very happy customer, with a growing shopping list from PP.

The one recommendation I would have would be to reflect the possible options/services on their website. As it is, the website is built on tictail for retail experience, but during the checkout or in the product offerings you don't get a list of services or options. For example, Paul Parkman offer exquisite solid wood Shoe trees for all your orders, but this does not appear as an option during checkout nor as a separate product on the sight to order. I only found out because asked if they happen to offer such a thing.
Also it would be helpful to be able to create an account on their site with your full details and with the ability to track/modify all your orders/order history and to save entering addresses and such every time.

All in all a great experience with the company and a easy recommendation to all shoe lovers out there!
