Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 59 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently complained about unhelpful support representatives, long waiting times, and completely unresolved payment disputes that caused significant frustration. Many people also experienced severe difficulties trying to obtain refunds and getting locked out of their personal accounts without receiving clear explanations. Though some customers appreciated the platform historically and valued its initial buyer protection features, current service failures remain a widespread concern. Users often found themselves dealing with frustrating automated responses and unexpected restrictions that severely prevented them from managing their own money properly. Where do I even start!?

Where do I even start!?

They ask for sooo many details, and when I provided them, they take a lot of time in verification.. Even after my account was verified, they just closed/limited it and aren't even telling me the reason!!

Now my funds have been blocked for 6 months. What do I do??

Awful

Similarly to others, I've also been permanently banned from my account with no explanation, and without a way to access the money that is in there. I've spent hours on hold this week just hoping there is some way they will allow me to access my funds one last time before I split for good. Even if this issue ends up getting resolved, I won't be continuing to do business with a company that treats their customers like criminals. Why are we even using PayPal to begin with? We have banks.

Update: Last call went through and representative confirmed that I am permanently banned (no reason given) and I should be able to get my money within the next 180 days.

Completely disappointed and I do not…

Completely disappointed and I do not recommend to anyone the services offered by paypal, they limited my legal COMPANY's account and I was not specified any concrete reason and that I cannot tell myself why but I am permanently limited. I have all the evidence that the account worked correctly with invoices and everything that is needed and in vain they didn't even care that we were working legally. I do not recommend these services.

Paypal is a joke

I was permanently banned from this snake in the grass company for absolutely no reason whatsoever but it's ok for them to seize funds for no ryme or reason other than the interest they draw on your money that they lock you out of. They bully their customers and you can't do a thing about it and they know it. It's no wonder they have the lowest possible ratings on customer feedback, customer support and every other thing they stick their greedy little fingers in. They are thieves in every sense of the word. Look at their trust pilot score or any score rating their services. Do a little research on their customer satisfaction, spoiler alert their is no customer satisfaction. Only them looking out for themselves and definitely not the customer. What a joke, I'm more than happy not to do business with a company that only takes advantage of those they do business with.

Very poor customer service

Very poor customer service. We had a business account that had provided all kinds of identification and authentication multiple times but PayPal would not allow us to accept payments. Whats worse is that we could not reach a live person and after hours of trying when we did... they misled us and said everything was fixed, all taken care of.

Of course it wasn't. Two weeks later we had to complain again. They are using some foreign offshore customer service and not helping much. Just not a great experience. VERY BUREACRATIC

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER FOR PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTS !!!

Paypal Customer service and Customer experience are the worst I have ever experienced : I upgraded a personal account to a professional one and MY NIGHTMARE STARTED !
And if only this was only about one account !!!
Actually, I'm experiencing the same with an association account !
It's been now 3 weeks that I've been providing ALL THE ADMIN DOCUMENTS they were asking for, repeatedly, these are NOT reviewed , or they are but NOT reported on my account profile, and back again, I receive THE SAME REQUESTS while my TWO ACCOUNTS ARE RESTRICTED and I can't work with them nor pay.
I have called at least 10 times their supposedly Customer Service in France that have ABSOLUTELY no latitude in solving admin problems, and here I am, a month later STILL with my accounts blocked and no escalation happening : Customer services promised I would be called back by their technical team to check what was happening. They gave me a clear Call Back date, yesterday , and .... NOTHING HAPPENED. NO CALL !!!
THIS IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER LIVED WITH A COMPANY !!!!

Paypal is the worst company in the…

Paypal is the worst company in the world. This is a real review from a real person and not a fake review. I had a Paypal US personal account with a linked bank account and debit card which I used to transfer money into whenever I receive income from the company that pays me. I never keep any amount of money in my paypal balance as I don't trust paypal at all due to their enormous amount of unknown and illogical errors that they impose on their system. When I came to unlink my bank account because I wanted to use my debit card instead since it was a faster instant payout but with a 1% fee, the card was checked by my card issuer which is Wise (formerly TransferWise), it said on my statement that it was 0USD. Sounds great. But then the transaction was declined. I never ever had this issue with ANY other website or company that required me to verify my card. So I said to myself, okay let me revert back to linking my previously linked bank account to how it was. But here starts the weirdness of this $hitty system. When I came to link it, it said that i've reached the maximum number of times that I can link my bank. W.T.F!!! I ONLY had it linked ONCE! Anyways, I went as usual to google this $hit and I read online that a bank cannot be linked to more than 3 times in its lifetime under any account. And none of that information was mentioned for me as a user when I came to link my bank for the first time. But now for the funny part, I also had a US business verified account. So I said to myself, let me try to see if I can link it to that account. It worked flawlessly without any issues! Then how the flying FCUK they said that I reached the limit of adding my bank account when I was able to add it normally to a different one?? WRONG ERROR. I then went back and tried adding my other bank account to my personal account. Guess what. I got a completely new different error saying "Sorry, we can’t link your bank account right now." Excuse me but why not?? Am I committing fraud? Don't quite think so. So again, I went to google trying to figure out a solution. I read in the forums that it might be a browser cache or cookie issue. I then went to chrome and opened the incognito window. After logging in to my account, I was greeted with a security check that I must insert a phone number to continue. Really?? Do they have any idea that I had created and registered my Paypal account with a phone number and confirmed it even!! Are they really blind to what they do? My last resort option was to try to contact the dead customer support service. I went to facebook messenger and explained my entire issue in detail. The next day, I received an automated template from a support guy explaining to me how to link a debit card which had nothing to do with what I was facing. Then I went to message them from within my dashboard and explained what was happening again in detail, then the guy called Micheals Kevin tells me the following and I quote: "If you can’t verify your identity by correctly answering our questions, or successfully complete the security challenge, the alternative is to either continue to use the existing bank account already available on your account or link a debit or credit card." Hey idiot, but how the heck should I use my existing bank account that is already available on my account when it is my main issue that I'm referring to??? If I was able to add it, I wouldn't be here chatting with you in the first place. He then tells me to try to use my debit card to withdraw the money. After telling him that it was declined for an unknown reason, he told me that it is my card issuer. I told him that it's impossible because the card is unfrozen/honored, I never had any issues with any other site and I also have funds on the card in case they needed to deduct a small fee for verification purposes. And my card was linked and fully confirmed on paypal. So what the heck is it then? He wants to blame it on my bank instead of paypal's fcuked up system. He then made the matter worse by telling me that I must upload my SSN, date of birth etc... I'm not a US citizen and don't want to do these nor do I want to hold any cash in my balance. Transferring money that is accepted to a bank without verifying my identity is fully legal to do so and I have done it millions of times but now he insisted that I need to submit the documents else relinking my already existing bank account will not be possible. CRAP CRAP CRAP! Finally, as I came to close my account, I also got another error though my wallet was completely empty. It may perhaps be that I must wait 30 days for the money to be returned back to the company that paid me, but this is the worst experience I've ever had. Never again will use Paypal as they are heavily unreliable and not worth the time wasted. I would give them a ZERO star if I could. I hope my honest review will shed some light on how bad Paypal truly is!

Dont trust- advocated to scam and not to the consumers.

I bought some accessories to my watch and never received order confirmation, tracking number or answers from customer service.
After 2 months They sent to me something I didn’t bought just to create a tracking number to PAYPAL and justify that they send to me an order. Of course I try contact they but nobody answered.
I already report to PAYPAL since the beginning open a dispute but they claim that I received an order so they considered I am lieing?!?! Continued to report a problem in PAYPAL, to proved that I contacted to the store and nothing.
My advice, avoid this store because is fake and scam. Do not trust your purchases to PayPal because they advocated to scam and not to the consumers.

Paypal are thieves

I have not used Paypal in a long time. A friend of mine insisted on sending me a bit of money in exchange for a service (buying a jacket and shipping it to her). Well, not only Paypal has kept me out of my account with them (I forgot the password AND my phone number has changed since the time I opened up the account with them, it is no longer my phone number), but Paypal refuses to return the money to my friend! This is plain daylight robbery!

BUYERS BEWARE OF SNAPTRAVEL AND PAYPAL!!

See below: Paypal should be ashamed!!
This I just posted this review on Snaptravel and it also includes Paypal!
I have been a great customer with a credit card for many years and this is the treatment we get!?
I will find other sources that can do the same thing you can do BUT who truly cares about my business!

WARNING-this company will take your money and NOT return it!!
I booked 2 nights at a hotel in Orlando through them. They immediately charged my card..of course. However when I emailed a couple days later to get my confirmation number they said they could not find it.. so it did not go through and I had no room reserved. (BTW--this was reserved for my honeymoon ) They promised my account would be credited the money ($112.80) since there was no trace of my reservation. After a week or so I still had not received my refund. I disputed it with Paypal and they denied it.. "We have reviewed this transaction(s) and are denying your case(s). This decision was made because we received shipment tracking from the merchant confirming that the merchandise was delivered".
THIS IS NOT TRUE!! I have the emails and messages sent to them showing they did not have my reservation!?! If I used the hotel that I tried to reserve through them, I would not have to dispute this charge OR post this bad review!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR TRAVEL. USE ANYONE EXCEPT THIS ONE!!! THEY MAY BE CHEAPER?? BUT IT IS BECAUSE THE STEAL FROM OTHERS AND RIP PEOPLE OFF! It could happen to you to too!!!!
BUYER BEWARE!! I am out $112.80 because of their error and lies. Refund my money. I will report to BBB as well!

Paypal is NOT a bank, just a building full of crooks/thieves

PosPal. I used paypal for years and in 2020 I would sell sporting goods items on ebay. Sold one and waited 2 days for a payment hold in OCT 2020. Sold a Same type of item just a different shape and Paypal would not release the funds for over there said 24day hold. day 26 they released the funds I used the $ to finally pay my late bills and an instant later CLOSED MY ACCOUNT. F paypal, they keep your money to make interest of off it. 0-5 stars. Even Ebay doesnt want anything to do with them anymore.

Simply incompetent

Very high fees. They denied my document for being expired for more than 20 months. My document expires in 2028 and we are in 2021 as of today. I called (internationally) and it seems like even the robot is incompetent and made me repeat myself 3 times or more for each step. It had issues understanding "no" or a TYPED phone number. Of course I can kiss the money for that call goodbye.

I will be going through with the account verification then I'll be deleting my account. Extremely incompetent, hard to reach and untrustworthy, with such high fees you would expect good services but no, not Paypal.

They blocked my account without…

They blocked my account without advanced notification, requested a myriad of documentation, and still arbitrarily permanently limited my account with no explanation as to what the "potential risk" was. In the meantime they are holding my Bitcoin hostage with no way to sell it and no way to transfer it to Coinbase, etc. So PayPal, how do you intend to rectify this issue?

Paypal has really been on a decline

Paypal has really been on a decline. Their PayPal "buyer protection" only covers three very specific circumstances. If your issue does not fall inside those three sets of circumstances, you are SOL. But other than that, my most recent issue was that Paypal randomly dropped my credit from $5300 to $1024 and won't give me any reason why. I spoke with someone on the phone and he said he couldn't give me any information until I received the notice they mailed me explaining why they dropped my credit. Well apparently they made that decision on 1/20 and it's now 2/9 and there has been no mail from them. Paypal was really cool in the early 2000's when people only bought things on eBay, but now it's honestly antiquated. They don't have enough protections for their customers, and they have HORRRIBLE service. I switched over to google pay or apple pay, I would suggest anyone else do the same.
