Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 1,332 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Many customers praise the staff for being lovely, kind, and supportive, often going above and beyond to show compassion to pets and their owners. The service is frequently described as amazing and invaluable, with many appreciating the professionalism and the ability to receive affordable treatment, especially for those on limited incomes. People are particularly grateful for the care received, with several noting that the company made it possible to keep their beloved pets healthy. However, some customers also noted issues with customer service, mentioning long waiting times for appointments and feeling that their concerns were not adequately addressed, even when their pets were in pain. A few other people also felt that the pricing for certain services, particularly emergency consultations, was unexpectedly high, and some experienced rude or unprofessional behavior from reception staff.

About PDSA

Written by the company

As the UK’s largest veterinary charity, PDSA is dedicated to supporting people and their pets. PDSA provides free and low-cost vet care in 49 Pet Hospitals across the UK to people that can’t afford the full cost of their pet’s care, ensuring that pets and their families can stay together longer.

PDSA is the vet charity for pets in need. Every day in our Pet Hospitals across the UK, PDSA vets and vet nurses protect the special bond between owners and their four-legged friends by providing veterinary care to sick and injured pets whose owners otherwise couldn’t afford to pay the full cost of treatment.

PDSA also offers pet welfare education and practical preventive support to combat the unnecessary illness, pain and suffering of pets in low-income households.

Whether it’s supporting pet owners with free advice on our Pet Health Hub, raising awareness of issues such as obesity, or recognising animals who have demonstrated acts of bravery through our Animal Awards programme – we know how important animals are.

Every year, PDSA vets and vet nurses treat over 430,000 pets throughout our 49 Pet Hospitals – that’s 10 pets every single minute. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on public support to continue our work.

These guys are really special

These guys are really special
Not much left about the UK to be proud of, but libraries and the National PDSA are two of them
My dog is my life, literally my reason for getting out of bed
I couldnt manage my mental health without her
Knowing that if she falls sick or is injured, I can get her to the PDSA and her care is assured, regardless of my financial status, is priceless peace of mind
My girl Gu and I owe this group so much
Anyone reading testimonies to the PDSA please consider a one off donation or perhaps a gift in your will
Whats not to love about a group who sole remit is to provide free care and treatment to pets in crisis, whos owners are struggling.

The people at the PDSA don't like me…

The people at the PDSA don't like me because I speak my mind and they want to be in charge. They work for me (the public). When I phone up and they don't like what I say they hang up on me. I've told them I suffer from anxiety and depression and I'm likely to get irate but they don't care, they just ask for money, they couldn't care less about the animals. I was sitting in the waiting room the other day and one receptionist was peeping round her computer at me which is a disgrace to treat clients like that,I said, yeah I'm still waiting. The only person I have respect for is Maisie the vet I see,she is brilliant and she listens to what I have to say because I know my cat better than all of them. There are two receptionists there that if I was the boss they wouldn't have a job. They talk to you like something they have stepped in. 🤬

Julie

This is a fabulous organisation and without their care and diligence to look after our pets I doubt a lot of pets would survive, the care and dedication they give is amazing and all I can say is a big thank you for all they do.

I can't speak more highly of the staff…

I can't speak more highly of the staff /teams at the Pdsa, every member of staff I've ever encountered in the past 5 years from the wonderful customer service team, with special Thanks to the most recent and really Wonderful lady Vera who helped me out with some technical issues I was having when filling in the online form, to the reception staff and of course the clinical staff and assistants, they are quite wonderful each & all of them and continue to provide an unfortunately necessary but fantastic service to those who require their help and they do it with a rare commitment to do everything they can from offering sound advice on their helplines to giving those in need of urgent & or long-term care what they need, when they need it. Five Stars well deserved

Not great for small pets

I respect the PDSA for their affordable treatment and how compassionate the vets are, but as it stands the treatment provided for small pets just isn't great.

They will have people with guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters etc. waiting in that room full of loud dogs for over an hour. It has happened to me on several occasions. That alone can cause significant harm to a poorly small pet.

Then there's the treatments they offer, which is pretty much summed up as a general health check and antibiotics. I don't understand why they accept small pets when it's clear they're not equipped for them.

If it wasn’t for the PDSA I couldn’t afford treatment for my babies

If it wasn’t for the PDSA I don’t know how folks on low incomes would be able to to care for there pets as I know I couldn’t afford to go to the local vets and the vets themselves are super they really are I always leave as much as I can towards my pets treatment
