We had the most amazing evening, the food was superb this is the 4th time now we have had Micheal back he never fails to disappoint us with the amazing and professional of the whole evening.

Michael catered for our 10 person dinner party and we would highly recommend him! Totally professional, the food was immense and I’m so please he was able to bring a waiter too as I didn’t have any clearing up to do either. Loved it all, thank you!

Mike Fishpen is absolutely brilliant! He cooked a fabulous meal for my husband’s 60th birthday party in January 2022. From first enquiring about Mike’s services to the moment he left after dinner the service was first class and the menu and quality of food were amazing! Our waitress, Sarah was also fabulous and looked after us so well. Great value for money and I would not hesitate to recommend or ask Mike to be our chef again.

Fantastic New Years Eve meal for 10, delivered ready to heat up/serve. Mike is professional and friendly,
catered for meat eaters and vegetarians, all round delicious 3 course meal - with FABULOUS canapes thrown in!
Will definitely use again if staying in the area.

Mike has provided his personal chef services to me a couple of times. Mike is super responsive, reliable, helpful and has great waiting staff too. More importantly, his food is delicious. I would recommend Mike for a wide range of events from casual to super fancy too.

Mike cooked 6 of us the most amazing 6 course taster menu.
We couldn't fault a thing ..from the moment he arrived with Sarah our waitress for the evening everything was done so professionally. As each course was served Mike explained exactly what we were going to be eating...the food was amazing and Sarah kept our drinks topped up, cleared the plates between courses, washed up, stacked the dishwasher and the kitchen was left spotless. Can't wait for the next time to use Mike's services.

I can't recommend Micheal enough, from quality of food to the cleanliness of my kitchen when he left. Micheal cooked the most amazing 6 course meal for 17 people with absolutely no stress to me the host, just wish i could afford to have him round every Saturday.

My 70th on the 14th September and my sons 33rd on the 16th September called for a really good restaurant meal for us and our partners.
Unfortunately a new dog of my sons which could not be left on its own, caused us to have to rethink the occasion.
My wife saw a piece about Mike and the excellent reviews which went with it and despite never having had any experiences with private chefs, she went ahead and booked him for a private meal for 4 in our tiny Forest of Dean cottage.
Mikes thoroughly professional approach, meant we knew exactly what he was doing for us and what he needed in our kitchen well in advance of his arrival on the day and time agreed.
What a friendly, approachable person Mike is who made us all feel at ease as we settled in the dining room to drink, chat and relax.
The meal was truly world class and as good as we’ve ever had at any Michelin starred restaurant, delivered with flair and perfect description of everything presented.
We ate his wonderful food accompanied by our choice of wines and all without the normal subdued atmosphere that you get in a restaurant, but allowed us to laugh, talk loudly and also engage with Mike in the other room whilst he slaved away on our meal.
We would do it all again in a flash and would totally recommend any one else to experience a home meal cooked by Mike, a top rank chef.

We had a special gathering of 13 to celebrate our diamond wedding anniversary and booked Mike to cook a 6 course dinner for us in the Cotswolds. All communication in advance of the event was efficient, helpful and professional.
On the day Mike arrived punctually and calmly made his preparations as his waitress Sarah set the table.
We were served a wonderful meal with each course introduced and explained, we all, including vegetarians ,enjoyed the whole meal which exceeded our expectations.
Mike was friendly and accommodating and we felt throughout were in the hands of a professional . I have no hesitation in recommending him and would use his services again with confidence.

Mike rose to the challenge of helping me to organise a surprise dinner party for my wife's 60th birthday. He agreed to provide a 6 course taster menu plus canapes for 7 people, vegetarian and fish for 5 of us, adapted for 2 vegans. He and our waitress, the delightful Diane, arrived at the agreed time and quickly set up. Everything was done with the minimum of fuss, the food was of a high standard, the timings were perfect, each course was clearly explained and they cleaned and packed up unobtrusively. Our dining area is open plan adjacent to our kitchen and this did not present a problem at all. Nor did the fact that the kitchen is relatively small - one four ring hob and one single oven. All in all, a great success and I would recommend him to my friends.

Michael was incredibly organised, great communication throughout and then cooked us a fabulous meal. Every one of our six courses was delicious and the portion sizes were perfect. Michael checked on us through every course and explain the dishes as they were served. To top it all off, my kitchen was left cleaner than it was before he arrived. In essence, Michael exceeded our expectations and I would not hesitate in recommending him!

What an incredible meal! Every single mouthful was so delicious and, so entertaining! We all thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

We wanted a very special celebration for my wife's significant birthday and Mike Fishpen did us proud. We got a very prompt response to our initial query and Mike was able to understand very quickly what we wanted and tailored his offering to really suit our requirement - a relaxed, informal but special occasion. The service was excellent - efficient, friendly and really tasty. Our guests were all very impressed and Mike will no doubt get more bookings.

We recently had a thoroughly enjoyable birthday dinner party, thanks to Mike and his waitress who provided us with an evening of great food and service. Mike is highly organised and thanks to his efficiency, the event was a totally stress-free experience, leaving us to relax and enjoy the company of our guests.

Our evening with Micheal went smoothly from the start to the end. This is the first time we have done something like this. It was a fun experience for our family. Mike was very chatty, we had skills testing for chopping, plating desserts and even had a go at making poached eggs. The food was anazing and he also left my kitchen clean and tidy. I would definitely book Mike again.

My wife organised Mike to come to our house for a very special Birthday celebration. After initial contact with Mike, he was very helpful in providing information on menu choices and options. There were several phone calls with him to ensure we were happy with the process and booking before committing to a deposit. Once this was done, all that we needed to do was to prepare for his arrival. He sends a very comprehensive list of things required to make the night go a smoothly as possible. On the evening, we got on with him very well. Whilst his dry South African sense of humour was evident (and had banter with him), his professional approach to the job was truly amazing. Once we showed him how to operate the oven, hob etc we stepped away and let him get on with the preparation of a very special meal. We were able to relax and enjoy the evening without any rush on time. We could enjoy the evening without sensing his presence and preparation of the meals. The food was fantastic. We had 3 courses preceded with canapés. We went for the beef fillet for mains. It was the best steak we have been ever served. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The service Mike gave was impeccable. He even cleaned and left the kitchen in the same state as he arrived including the dishwasher loaded. The thought of having a chef cook for you in the comfort of your own home is something we have always wanted to do. We were glad we made the decision and highly recommend Mike for a special occasion. You will not be disappointed! We will definitely be booking him again.

Wonderful dining experience, from the delicious canapés to the amazing three course meal. Mike talked us through each course and told us where the food was sourced, he was polite and funny and made the experience a memorable one. Will definitely book again.

We chose Mike to be the chef for our miniature wedding. He was a consummate professional from booking to bye byes, displaying amazing patience despite lots of chopping and changing, including delays on the day. His communication before and during the event was excellent, he's amazingly well organised and was invested in our day from the word go. Mike seems to genuinely value his staff who did a smashing job: they were a great team.

The meal itself was absolutely outstanding. There were several converts to scallops (the best we've ever had) and everyone agreed the food was cooked to perfection! We'd requested a simplified menu for the children and they absolutely loved it. The sourdough bread was just divine too. Mike's support and commitment to helping us have an amazing day was massively appreciated - we feel like he's almost become a friend! One word... faultless!
