The website is designed to make you think you are registering your pet's microchip but then diverts you into buying unrelated products. I thought I was paying to register the chip (which you shouldn't have to do if you have already purchased it) and receiving a tag in addition to the registration. In fact, I was only purchasing the tag. I emailed to cancel the purchase within 5 minutes, but my card was charged immediately and when I called the next day they told me it had already been processed. When I told them I would file a complaint with the FTC they refunded the money. I have received texts and emails asking me to come back to the website and register the chip.

Edit with reply: I think you know exactly what you are doing: misleading people to purchase things. I am sorry that this business model works. I appreciate the refund and wish your employees well.

Registering with Petkey was a charm after having experienced a nightmare on the net and on the phone with the leading competitor. I rest comfortably in knowing that I will be able to locate my precious Bella if she is ever lost or is taken. If I should ever have any more pets I will confidently register them with Petkey as well.

I recently accepted ownership of my sweet pup from someone who needed to rehome him due to space issues (the home, not the pup). The official transition of Prince’s records did not go smoothly and I came to learn, from PetKey to whom I was referred when I investigated, that the original chip # was never registered with any other tracking company. The PetKey agent was very calming and reassuring in the registration process and now I trust that if Prince gets lost, it will be possible to get him home to me, quickly. The chip manufacturer confirmed to me that PetKey was a good provider to use.

1) They do not tell you their service costs money until you have an account (registering a microchip is free in many places)
2) They have no way to deactivate or delete your account once you've signed up
3) Their "chat help" option just sends your question to an email, is not connected to actual help
4) I tried deleting my info from my account (put non-personal info instead) and it wouldn't let me / save it
5) I've already gotten 3 sales emails from them in the first 30 minutes of having an account
6) They are most definitely not a .org / organization, they are a for-profit business
7) When I finally ended up calling in, she did deactivate my account - but unfortunate unprofessional form to have a web service and no way to end it without having to call during their business hours.

SO UNPROFESSIONAL ON EVERY LEVEL.

[UPDATE: Response to PetKey reply: I spent 20 minutes trying to find a delete account or any other way to remove my profile with no luck.
There is no info about charges for your services shown until you have signed up for an account.
I appreciate that you have been helping pet owners, but do not change my stated issues with your site.]

I was also redirected to this site but it seemed legitimate. I paid for a lifetime chip registry and also ordered other items like a pet ID card a window cling for the fire department etc etc. After a month of not receiving the items I emailed them and received an email back literally being ordered not to contact them again until July 17th. I'm not kidding it was the rudest email I ever got. Waited another few weeks and emailed them July 14th said I still don't have my items I have an email saying the woman was going to go check in the warehouse and see where my order was. It is now July 18th I still have not heard back and am forced to go to the Better Business Bureau this morning. My advice run run and find yourself another service

When I called to report Mochi, the agent answered quickly and was very friendly. She answered all of my questions and was very kind and compassionate. She gave me hope that Mochi would be found safe!

The representative was so kind, patient and gave really good advice on locating our cat Sugar. Thank you!

Great Company and efficient to find missing dogs. Highly recommemded.

I recently got my dog chipped and was told from my vet be sure to use correct web address to register him so I was very careful going to that correct site, selected register and filled out everything and was surprised I had to pay $45 for a lifetime of protection in case my pet is lost. when I decided to check my chip # to see if I had registered him correctly and add his picture I noticed it was Petkey not Petlink (who is free to register but I didn't know at the time) had linked into the site when I went to register and pulled up their registration form. I was so mad! Thankfully I used a credit card and I went to stop payment when it suggested I call them first so I did. Of course they said they never did any kind of scam but I know better and told them they better reverse the charges or I WILL!!! It is reversed!!! WATCH OUT FOR SCAMS FROM PETKEY!!!!!

I adopted two cats through the Humane Society which were chipped with you. The card I have says your pet Social Security card, no charges no charges for updates. Now you want to charge me $20 a year per animal. I feel ripped off

The name tag was in fact very cheaply made for ($15) and I too feel fleeced because when I typed in the company the humane society gave me Pet Key popped up. I like others didn't realize it was not associated with the original company and they got my money. I have never heard of yearly renewal fees in all my years of microchipping pets. Seems like a scam to me. Hoping my pet is truly protected.

Don’t waste your money on their harnesses. They are cheaply made and don’t fit right. They do not stand behind their products.
So their reply mentioned a refund site. Searched for it and can’t find it. Was told on their chat that they don’t give refunds.

First you said “refunds@petkey” with an s which came back as undeliverable. Now you say “refund@petkey” without the s. Waiting to see if that goes through. Why don’t you just contact me? Order # PK-439083

Absolutely cannot say more kind words about Petkey.

Been using them for over 3 yrs now with all my litters. Had a 1 off and tried Fi-Nano which was very much a disappointment.

Absolutely love petkey and will stay loyal to them.

The tag registered to my dog was cheap cheaply made and the number has recently rubbed off I ordered a new tack they did not put her microchip number on the tag like I requested $20 when I called customer service when I finally got it in the mail did they help me no they made excuses do not go with this company.

I would never recommend this microchip company. Completely & absolutely useless. Calling from an animal control agency and trying to reunite animal owner with pet and they were 100% unhelpful. Stick with Homeagin people!!

Love pet key they make it easy to change address when you move. The price is good it’s for the lifetime of your pet. Hope & pray I never have to use it ♥️♥️♥️
