I wish I could give ZERO stars. First of all, the property managers should be the ones paying for this service, not the tenant/owner. Rentals already require pet deposits before the pet is even allowed in the unit. Then you pay a non refundable pet damage fee. Then you pay a monthly with your apartment for your pet. Then they require us to pay for pet insurance and renters insurance that covers the pet “damage.” On top of that, you require the pet owners to pay another $30 even though I DID ALL OF THE WORK. I submitted all the necessary info and documents and then you want my money on top of? You should be ashamed of yourselves PetScreening.com. The landlords and management companies should be required to pay the fee. The tenants pay enough and I’m not sure if you realize how expensive it is out here but every penny counts. $30 to submit my pet info and then you send it to the landlords. I’m more than capable of delivering that information DIRECTLY to my landlord without having to use a pointless 3rd party company.
Sincerely,
A frustrated tenant.

Incredibly annoying middle-man experience that also takes advantage of the fact that leasing agencies require a pet screening as a way to sell you unrelated and unnecessary renters/pet insurance.
Be sure to check your profile after you've made one because they will immediately start sending you MULTIPLE EMAILS A DAY about their stupid forms, and are definitely selling your profile info to advertisers on the side.
Huge annoyance with a leasing company I was otherwise very happy to work with.

I completed the profile unaware there is another form specifically for a service/emotional support animal. Ashley emailed specific instructions (in a very fast/timely manner...KUDOS!) with screenshots and high-lightened images on what/where to "click" and follow the prompts. Everything went quite well!

I needed to update my cat's vaccination information for the annual renewal, but didn't see a way on the website to do that. So I contacted customer service and, between working with Ashley, Becky and Olivia, the task was completed. All 3 of them were very professional and friendly, always replying in a timely manner. This is the 2nd year that my cat has been registered with Pet screening and they always make the process easy to complete

This company provides a largely unneeded service that where they generate revenue via dark patterns and consumer data harvesting. Their business model appears to be charging tenants a yearly per-pet subscription for pet screening "services" and then using their forms to push third party insurance providers on unwilling customers while gathering profile data they can in turn sell to advertisers. This business on the surface is providing a service for landlords, but deriving profit from tenants without the ability to opt-out of their data gathering scheme and unwanted subscription model.

Mackenzie helped me solve a complicated problem after many emails back and forth. She's an asset to the Pet Screening company.

Eric was quick to respond with updated information and answers to my questions, but most of all, one could see a delightful attitude through his way with words. I was a little perturbed at how to navigate the website and the questionaires' lengthy style, but with Eric's help I managed to get through it.

before signing a lease, I will now be checking if this company is used by any home i rent moving forward. Pet Screening, Inc has made the already stressful process of moving an absolute nightmare. I have had to resubmit my pet’s documentation 3 times because I have not included key words their robot assessment program will recognize. I would rate 0 stars if it were possible.

Mackenzie and Stephanie were both very helpful in helping me get what I needed accomplished quickly and nearly effortlessly.

UPDATE 03/17/2026- Pet Screening Services has finally responded and supposedly issued a full refund. They have also deactivated our pets accounts as we originally requested. It was none the less an unfortunate and frustrating experience. SEE ORIGINAL COMLAINT BELOW.
Pet Screening Services reached out to us after we applied for a lease with Montage Southside Apartments in Ft. Worth, Texas, under the premise that it was REQUIRED by our apartments. We did the same as many- filled out the laborous forms on our 2 dogs (even though we had done the same on the lease application) then paid the $60 fee. I began to think, "this ain't right", so I reached out to the apartment manager and was informed that Pet Screening Services was NOT in fact required after all. I in turn went back to them within 72 hours and requested a refund. They have ducked and dodged me with BS, even telling me they called our apartments and that management confirmed the service was required. BUT, they were admittedly calling the WRONG APARTMENTS! I can't even get them to confirm they have "deactivated" the account, leaving me to worry about having to deal with this s--t all over again next year! BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THESE THIEVES!!

This entire company is a scam. They sign up apartment complexes and then force people to create site profiles even if you don’t have a pet. Why? So they can sell your email address and pump you with ads. I had 3 popup ads for referral services just in the time it took to state multiple times that I don’t own any animals. Just another company setup solely to steal and sell your data.

Total scam. Fed/states should target this junk fee. Classic example of a 'middleman' service that provides zero value to the tenant while creating a massive headache. If your landlord requires this, prepare for a frustrating experience. Charging any fee for an assistance animal is housing discrimination.

I want to compliment Olivia for the way she helped me resolve an issue. She was professional, but kind and was very knowledgeable, so I was able to have some peace of mind, knowing I was in good hands.

Scumbag website, if you look up anything online for help it mostly shows help for the LANDLORDS. Reading stuff about how to determine ESA letters are fake or how to reject them. Having to renew the same ESA letter annually even though MOST disabilities are lifelong. But if you read on those forums they say "oh no one needs an ESA after one year so that's how you get them with the fees." This service prays upon everyone who uses it. SHAME ON LANDLORDS/PROPERTY MANAGERS WHO USE PETSCREENING
