There is no better camp in the country…

There is no better camp in the country ! I’ve played basketball a at the college level and gave gone to multiple other camps , I wished I had this camp opportunity during my years in high school! PGC is not one of those “money grab camps” your child’s expierence will be life changing if they’re open to being a bit uncomfortable with learning how to think the game! I can’t say enough good things. Try one of there day camps if you want to test the waters .. be trust me the water is fine !

My son had a wonderful time at the camp…

My son had a wonderful time at the camp from learning how to make his basketball skills stronger, be a better teammate, and make new friends. This way a definitely a great experience for him not only being away from home but working with wonderful coaches.

Not for kids who play high level aau

Im sure pgc is well intentioned but if your child plays aau at a fairly high level this camp is far too basic. A lot of silly rah rah stuff and less real coaching.

Hi Garret,

Thank you for your feedback and I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed by the experience.

I can understand your frustration if this is what your child relayed to you about the PGC experience. I can assure you though, there is a great deal of real coaching that takes place and the energy-giving we teach is far more than silly rah rah stuff or cheerleading.

From having watched countless college practices, including Duke and North Carolina, I've seen firsthand how top coaches demand energy from their players. Good coaches know that energy elevates every human experience, and we teach players how to consistently bring energy and give energy to their teammates.

At PGC camps, we don't do a lot of 'real coaching', based on what most people think real coaching is. There is no 'yelling and telling' like many traditional coaches do. We don't do typically drills that you'll find at other camps, but instead teach habits and decision-making that prepares players for higher levels of play. Everything we do and teach is uncommon, and nearly no serious player has ever mastered what we teach, but younger players occasionally feel like it's too basic for them despite not being close to mastery.

Over 2,500 coaches are observing camps this year with their players, so we have real coaches assessing each and every camp. I can confidently say I have not read a single evaluation from a coach who has expressed concerns about a lack of real coaching or useless cheering.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Sincerely,

Mano Watsa, PGC President & Owner

My kid loved his experience at PGC!

My kid is a great shooter but was a bit shy to pull the trigger in the games. This camp encouraged him to take the shot, and he played a tournament and lit it up, it was like a new player just showed up. Love the Camp and already begging to plan for the next one.

Former PGC camper

As a player PGC helped develop my leadership skills and my understanding of being a selfless player. With multiple videos, quotes, and stories I had the ability to learn and build skills to help me throughout the rest of highschool. I met multiple friends. Also the coaches apart form the director were highly encouraging and attentive enough to explain to help me understand and learn on everything. I truly believe PGC is going to help me elevate my skills.

Extremely unsatisfied and highly disappointed

I was going to wait to write but I’m here sitting in class for parents night of Playmaker college and I’m debating whether to pull my kid or just live with the loss of money. I waited all year even bought a subscription to PGC online courses to prepare for what they call a camp for serious players. The camp was overpacked and in the 2 hours of court time my son got 15 min off on court training. The classroom was filled with fluff videos that you can literally watch on instagram for free. This is a pricey camp and honestly from what I experienced at day 3 I know this won’t be beneficial. I’m extremely saddened because the hype around this camp made me invite my son’s teammates and their fathers and kids said along the same lines of things. Not only is my son getting nothing out of an extremely expensive camp compared to others, but my reputation with my son’s teammates is damaged as well. My intentions was to send my son to point guard college next, but after this experience I highly doubt it and wouldn’t recommend this camp to anyone else.

Hi Concerned Parent,

First of all, I'm so sorry to hear you felt this way after sitting in on the parents night at the Playmaker College camp. Typically parents are blown away by what they see when they visit, so this is really surprising feedback. I'm also sorry to hear that you feel your reputation has been damaged. I can only imagine how frustrating and disappointing that must be.

Your feedback about the lack of on-court training is certainly concerning. We track the amount of time players are actually training/competing in every gym session at every camp, and our Basketball Development team receives the summaries each day. So, we can see firsthand if players are getting the 'time on task' and sufficient reps required to improve. If the 'time on task' falls below our thresholds, we connect with the Director to identify what the issues are and help them to adjust as needed. I trust this happened at the camp your son was at and the remaining gym sessions had suitable training time.

With respect to overcrowding, we have strict limits as to how many players attend each camp. Many of our camps have waiting lists, yet we restrict the enrollment to ensure players get enough reps to create lasting change in their game. In addition, as the players are on-court for 6+ hours a day and there is very little 'down time' like other camps, we have to ensure the players don't get over-extended, which leads to increases in injuries.

Finally, with respect to the classroom session you saw, I'm not sure what may have happened. Our classroom sessions have been extremely well-received by athletes, parents, and the thousands of coaches who attend PGC with their players and their own kids. I personally review the curriculum for every classroom and court session prior to the summer and while there are always things that can be improved at any particular camp, I do know that the classroom sessions have a depth of teaching that benefits players and coaches of all levels.

In light of your experience, I would be pleased to provide your son and each of his teammates who attended the camp with free tuition to our Scoring College camp (yes, we'll pay for their meals & accommodations too) so we can do our best to restore your reputation (and ours) and provide them with the type of game-changing experience that thousands of players experience each summer.

Sincerely,

Mano Watsa, President & Owner

"Confident We Made the Right Choice with PGC"

Parent Review – Overnight PGC Camp (Early Impressions):

My two boys are currently attending the 5-day overnight PGC camp, and even though it's only Day 2, they are absolutely loving it. Every moment when we talk, they are full of energy and excitement, sharing what they learned and how much they are enjoying the structure, the coaching, making new friends, and the overall experience.

As a parent, it’s reassuring to hear how motivated and engaged they are — not just with the basketball side, but with the leadership lessons and team-building, too. The overnight setup is giving them a chance to grow more independent and build connections with other players from different places.

We’re only partway through the week, but so far, it’s been a very positive experience. I’m already confident this camp will leave a lasting impact on them— both on and off the court. Already looking forward to next summer.

This camp has been one of the best…

This camp has been one of the best experiences for my son and my family. Because of the focus on developing play skills, but also on developing decision-making and teamwork skills, every time I talk to my son, he's happy because every day of camp is a new learning experience. Thank you, PGC team.

Great experience from day 1!

This is my son’s first PGC experience and from how excited he was, I can tell he enjoyed it from his first day. His aau coach also attended and as a man who has coached 25 years, he said he was learning a few intangibles that he’d take back to his teams/players. I’m 1000% sure that my som will he back next year and that my other son will be joining him.

Multidimensional Positive Aspects!

There is just a positive and exciting spirit when you walk onto the campus (I've been to 2 different campus locations over 2 years). The staff are friendly and always have smiles. The skills and leadership as well as strong moral character traits are just amazing. I really have enjoyed watching my son grow as a result of the camp. Last year, he attended the PGC camp and as soon as basketball season started, other fans were noticing a huge change in his playing and performance!

Good camp but I expected more

My kid (10 years old playing now 3 years AAU basketball) overall liked the camp. Said he would go again to another. So overall it was a good camp. Better than Nike and other organized camps we have been to. However for the price you would expect that much. I expected however much more. Here is my breakdown:

PROS:
- Great organization and positive staff.
- The drills were good and overall kept the kids engaged.
- Good competitive games with decent rewards

CONS:
- Too many kids per coach. They had no way to make sure each kid focuses on positivity and understands that if they miss a shot there is always the "next play"
- NO DEFENSE emphasis what so ever. No defensive stand, no push to play the right way on defense. Everything was about offense. Point guards don't play defense these days I guess. Thanks modern NBA!
- No team play concept. Coaches watched same kids shoot on the first touch of the ball over and over again without pushing to find the open man etc. Kids got frustrated and did not pass on purpose since no one passed to them. This was extremely disappointing IMO.

He just described my son.

I heard the ad from one of my social media outlet. When I got through listening to it, it was as if he was describing my son. This ad pest me for years, I knew as a mother this is what he needed. I knew he loved the sport a great all-around player. He taught himself and his brother a lot of things for years before we could afford a trainer. I knew if I could get him here to get all the pieces that he needed to be the best as a point guard his confident and leadership would take his game to the next level. When the opportunity came up, I moved on it, and I am so glad I did. After the professional and honest assessment, the awesome coaches provided solutions that would strengthen him. This open to his eyes and opened the opportunity to work on himself. He is challenged now to make his weakness his strength, work on his craft and take is game to the next level.

So far so good

So far so good, the whole process of getting our son signed up and ready was amazing and stressless. The PGC “Bible” was very helpful and I know this experience is going to increase not only my sons playing level but his basketball IQ
