I approached Phil as I knew I needed help with my out of date CV but was too close to the subject matter to know where to start! Phil's approach was fantastic, after an introductory call we had a couple of deep-dive sessions on my experience but also focused on what I wanted to land as my next role. Phil was very consultative in his approach, he shared drafts and really ensured that he included my voice in the output.

Phil responded to my original query (re assistance writing my CV) quickly and offered me a 15 minute career discovery call (free) for a few days later. The 15 minutes quickly turned in to almost 30 minutes, but Phil did not make me aware that we had run over or make me feel as if he was in a hurry to wrap up the call.
Phil clearly explained the following two options that would be available to me (Troubleshooter or Deep Dive) if I would still like his help with my CV. Phil didn’t make me feel pressured to choose one option, the other, or either.
I chose the Deep Dive option and Phil was able to fit me in the following day, the call lasting approximately 2 hours (from memory). During the call, Phil reviewed my lack lustre CV whilst asking lots of questions in order to grasp a good understanding of me, my skills, and experiences.
Phil returned his draft version of my CV the following day. I remember reading just the first few lines and thinking “this is brilliant”- I could hardly believe it was about me!
Phil was able to fit me in for a 30 minute finalisation call the following day. Like the first call, this also ran over but Phil was happy to answer any questions and make minor changes to ensure I was completely happy with the CV.
To summarise, I would 100% recommend Phil - he is a CV magician!

After 8 years in the same organisation, I was approached to apply for a Board level job with a different provider in the same Healthcare sector.

Despite sitting on many interview panels and recruiting some real talent, I knew that I would be rusty, when taking a seat on the opposite side of the wide table.

Phil was recommended to me, and the sessions were a Godsend. I wish I’d contacted him sooner, as his work on CVs is legendary, but my “best effort” was already submitted and I had already been invited to interview.

Phil was a fantastic mixture of coach, critic and expert. Set me tasks, worked with me to streamline my presentation and answers to questions that we could anticipate. Let me be clear, my answers and presentation were so much clearer, shorter and more engaging after session 3!

I got feedback that I smashed the interview, was the preferred candidate at that stage and I was the only candidate whose presentation ran to time!

After the second interview, I got the call everyone dreads- I’d not been successful! However I had been able to demonstrate my skills and experience, such that it lit a spark saying “we need him to do this instead” then offered me a newly created Board level position, same package, same direct access to CEO, and probably a better fit for my personality and experience.

I rang Phil, somewhat disheartened, having repeated a life pattern of NOT getting the top job! He gave me some robust redirection- that they had seen something they liked enough to not lose me, and create a post, with an incredible package. He reminded me that many an X-Factor runner-up went on to have longer more productive careers than some of the winners, so I had a firm word with myself and accepted the job.

I start in a couple of months, and am really excited about the new senior role in the new company- which will bring some stretch opportunities, a better work-life balance and the chance to make real improvements in the Healthcare sector. With this invaluable coaching support, I was able to demonstrate capability and an engaging style landed me not just the job, but rather the right job, which came with the same rewards. Great result for me, and hopefully, my new company too.

I've been in consulting most of my working life. CV's are part of the deal as a consultant - it's how firms put their people in the shop window and match them to engagements. So I’ve had lots of CV writing experience.

But like many, my own personal CV had become pretty congested after >25 years of career. I'd also had a breakdown in 2021 which apart from rocking my confidence, further clouded my ability to see the wood for the trees and what I really wanted to do. I needed to take stock.
