Fun, well paced and encouraging
The pace of the courses is well designed. Though sometimes seems to be starting at a very easy level, there is always something to be learned.
Regular encouragement to jam out an idea along with a video or at the end of a lesson really helps cement the ideas.

Learned much more on this pathway than I expected! A few weeks ago, I thought I would never be able to play bar chords. That has now changed. Karl did a great job of explaining how to hold my hand and position my fingers - extremely helpful! Highly recommended for beginners!

It’s my preferred online guitar lessons, and I’ve tried several. So far I have really appreciated the layout and late intermediate course. Each lesson is laid out clear and systematically. Each lesson has several exercises which is great. I wish I could adjust the tempo of tracks to match my skills. Using video speed isn’t the same.
Clearest CAGED system course ever
I tried at least 3 online courses + 2 books and almost every youtubers video about CAGED System and Pickupmusic is so far my best experience in learning. I'm not saying the other ones are wrong: I'm saying this is the best one fitting for me. It's visual, it's step by step, it's deep enough to be exhaustive. Teachers encourage to follow any steps but you can of course feel free to arrange it on your needs. If you put enough time and effort in it you wouldn't be disappointed. For what I know, there isn't a unique path to learn music and guitar playing: the more point of view you have the better it is. FOR SURE this is the best one to start from. Enjoy!
An Excellent Excellent Program
I am a late beginner/early intermediate guitar player and can't imagine a better approach to learning than Pickup Music. A clear focus of their approach is to make sure you understand where you are headed and how that connects with what you've already done as well as what you are doing in your current lesson. Complementing that, they are highly skilled in reducing lessons to small bite size pieces which really helps with making the student feel that they are successful and progressing every day. Perhaps there are other programs that are just as good, I don't know, but I cannot imagine any other program out there is better, and if you factor in affordability, I just can't imagine Pickup Music can be beat.
The best around
No matter what other apps or sites or videos I might sign up for, I always end up coming back to Pickup Music. The video quality and content surpasses everything else I've tried and the team is completely committed to building and supporting the community of players. There are very few things that I keep as recurring subscriptions anymore and Pickup Music is in that select group.
YouTube-Guitarist’s Godsend
Pickupmusic is the solution to my issues as an intermediate guitarist that learned from YouTube and hasn’t progressed in years. The instruction is so clear and the website is so smooth and well laid out that it makes me want to get on and practice everyday. I thumbed through the late beginner course to try and fill the gaps of being self-taught. I learned how to bend and was given such good advice for learning to solo, that I love just picking up my guitar and seeing what I can create with only a few notes.
I haven’t felt this excited about guitar since I first started playing. I highly recommend anyone wanting to level up their playing to at least do the free trial (they don’t try to sneak your payment date by you). It’s great value for the money with the amount of high quality content if you decide to get the annual subscription. Dive in and you won’t regret it!

I just finished grade 4 of the intermediate learning pathway. I really like that the lessons start at a slow bpm, so you can get under your fingers.
Then it gets more musical.
I really like playing the major scale in thirds.
It was difficult at first, but fun once I got it down
Hey everyone,
Hey everyone,
After feeling stuck in my guitar progress, I decided to take guitar playing a bit more serieus, and it’s slowly but surely taking my playing to the next level.
I highly recommend it to anyone looking to "pick up" the guitar again after years of playing the same things over and over again.
It has definitely helped me a lot!

Nice introduction, with room for expansion
I like the introductory lessons on everything the guitar has to offer, from chord shapes like barre chords, and techniques like slides and even the theory behind triads.
The only suggestion I would make would be to link related lessons in each day. For example, on the triad day, what other Pickup Music content related to triads is there? and where can I take a deeper dive? Where are some extra practice routines related to what I am learning, so that I can have a little extra to work on for that day? Being able to access PM's library from the course would be a great extra tool.
Got me out of the intermediate rut
Got me out of the intermediate rut. I think a lot of guitar players, especially "self-taught" reach this point where they know the basics but they've lacked structure and are a bit stuck as to where to go next. I also got to the point where I just wanted to play guitar, but I didn't want to do the research and teaching aspect.
Pickupmusic solve this with pathways - a structured learning course. All the instructors are excellent players and highly knowledgeable.
This site has reignited my passion for guitar.
Best value for money in a while
Honestly this is the best way to progress on guitar. Having structured quality pathways to learn depending on interest allows you to FOCUS rather than going through endless YouTube tutorials.
Best value for money. IF you practice !
So glad i stumbled on to this
terrific - the lessons are outstanding. the best learning tool. helped me take big leaps with my playing. I hop around a bit. doing things i never thought i was capable of.
Super cool to start
Great step by step introduction to guitar playing. Basic skills are by the way, turning the guitar more familiar.
Pickup Music has been a great learning option for me.
I started taking lessons locally about a year ago at the age of 59 and recently had to stop due to family commitments. I was making good progress and didn't want to quit so, I decided to give Pickup Music a try after watching some of the lessons on Youtube. I decided to start with the beginner course and now I'm working on the late beginner course and I'm impressed with the content and format of the lessons. I like the pace and the backing tracks are really helping me get a better handle on my timing and rhythm. This was a great option for me to continue my learning and I'm glad I signed up.
pick music is engaging
pick music is engaging, fresh and relevant. the lessons are short but sometimes challenging. The instructors are always positive and make you feel ok if you don't get it perfect.
Pickup Music is the absolute best!
Pickup Music is the absolute best online guitar learning resource. Incredible teachers help you move from beginner to expert, while additional learning pathways, master classes, and live recorded sessions dive into additional techniques and styles of playing. If you're thinking about it (and love Neo soul guitar) then JUST SIGN UP!
The best all-in-one place to find…
The best all in one place to find everything you need to learn and know about music. Think i am in my 2nd year or so since joining and never thought about leaving. I was on some popular platforms before this but Pickup offers everything in one place.
Confident Recommendation.
I would really recommend the guitar beginner pathway, it's super easy to follow, a lot of fun, the lesson always make me smile.
The lessons are made small size, in a structured way, with jam session in the end that you play with, it doesn't feel like you are a beginner.
Pickup music very informative site.
I have been with Pickup music for a few years now. I am over my 60s There is something for every one who is trying to enjoy the most out of the guitar.
