Critical Safety Warning: Amazon Pharmacy Integration has Ruined PillPack’s Reliability

As a long-term PillPack customer, I am writing this to warn others that the transition to Amazon Pharmacy management has turned a life-saving service into a dangerous health risk. Based on my experience in early 2026, I can no longer trust this company with my essential medications.
The Experience:
My February PillPack shipment arrived missing two critical daily medications. I didn’t realize the error until a quarterly blood test showed my A1c levels had spiked dangerously because I was unknowingly missing doses.
The Failures:
Zero Proactivity: When I contacted customer service, they admitted the refills arrived two days after my shipment left. Instead of sending the missing meds immediately, they claimed I was responsible for manually requesting them online.
Inadequate Notifications: Amazon claims to send notifications for missing meds, but their system is confusing and places the entire burden on the patient to "fix" the issue via their app or website.
Unreliable Stock Management: For other essential meds, I was told they were simply "out of stock" with no estimated arrival date. Their only solution was for me to transfer the script to a local pharmacy myself.
"Tech-Savvy" Requirement: Customer service confirmed that they do not automatically fill new scripts or late refills. If you are not constantly monitoring your email, texts, and the Amazon Pharmacy website, you will simply not receive your medication.
Verdict:
The original PillPack model—where pharmacists proactively managed your health—is gone. It has been replaced by a rigid, digital-first system that prioritizes Amazon’s logistics over patient safety. If you are not able to manage your prescriptions like a part-time job on a computer, do not use this service. It is a risk to your health.

Goodbye PillPack! So good to see you go.

Long term customer of PillPack, received an incorrect shipment, called their 24/7 number. It took26.3 min waiting to have the ship one bottle of pills they forgot to ship. Plus, it will take 2 more days, so I am without the medication. Good by PillPack!

Like others have said-Pillpack under Amazon is worse.

Like others have said, when Amazon took over, service got worse. Amazon says they ship the box to arrive 2 days prior to the start day. 5 out of 10 time, that happens. The other 5 they arrive by 11 pm the night before or a day late. also, the site setup and management is not as easy as Pillpack was. When I talked to a pharmacy supervisor, they said sorry, nothing more they can do. Pillpack always aimed for 3 or 4 days early. Once it came the night before needed.

When I started with Pillpack, there wasn't much competition. There are a number of other companies now. I am planning to change to someone other than Pillpack at this point.

Extremely poor customer service- declining product

I agree when Amazon Pharmacy took over Pill Pack things changed for the worse. You can no longer discuss or change your medication with a represenative. They claim it all must be done online. Whomever created that program should be publically flogged. It is not intuative or customer friendly. Very confusing. The quality of the packaging has declined as well. Ofter when I try to seperate the morning pill pack it tears open the evning one and spills those pills everywhere. Obviously a new vender to cut cost. While the idea of the packs is exceptional, the quality of customer service of Amazon is beyond the pale bad. I will go with a new company after some research. If you want an inferior product and non exsistant customer service, pill pack is for you. Otherwise avoid at all cost!

Amazon ruined PillPack

Amazon ruined PillPack! The customer service system seems to be built so that you can’t speak with a representative - it forces you into their “chat” system, then usually disconnects. They inundate you with emails (if you have multiple prescriptions, they treat each one like a separate account) often times with conflicting information. For example, they send out-of-date emails saying that my doctor has not responded to a request for refill authorization, when I received confirmation from my doctor DAYS before. Last month, I had to make 16 phone calls to straighten out my order. Ridiculous! Frustrating!!

Amazon Pill Pack is AWFUL

This has been the most frustrating customer service experience. Don't use them. The CSR folks don't know how the process works. I ordered a Pillpack and had a delivery date set. The order was changed to bottles which doesn't help my 94 year old relative without asking me. She's paying for 30 day supplies instead of 90 days--which is more expensive. Supervisors can't help. Don't use them.

Need I add fuel to the fire

Need I add fuel to the fire. You pay for a pill pack and get the meds in bottles. Total scam. Once Amazon took over it fell apart. I was told the first time it was a glitch in the system. Same story the second month. When it happened 3 month, had to cancel. The good part of pillpack, like the name says, it’s was a pillpack. Now it just a distant pharmacy, selling bottles of meds. Sad

Used to be very smooth

Used to be very smooth, but now the entire process is flawed. If you need help there is none. Sad. Was with them for years, but now local pharmacies deliver, so no need to try to keep using them.

Pill Pack used to be great. Now I deal with constant headaches of scripts being sent to Amazon Pharmacy (don't they own Pill pack?) and have to get it transferred back.

PillPack used to be a wonderful asset.

PillPack used to be a wonderful asset, providing consistently top-notch service. Since the Amazon union, it has become user hostile. When a new script is added by the doc, it comes in a bottle, not the pack unless one is willing to spend hours dealing with the incredibly opaque website. If one is going on vacation, getting supplies a little early is really painful and time consuming. Even so, non-prescription drugs are not included in vacation packages. We all know that Amazon can do a much better job. Question is .....How long is the current state of affairs going to last?

PillPack's Steady Decline In Quality & Customer Service - New Patients Beware

Been with PillPack for over 8 years. Has been a steady decline in quality ever since Amazon got involved. Without warning, they shipped all bottles this month. And when you call to complain, they don't take any responsibility. I have backup insurance of GoodRx in addition to my own work supplied prescription insurance yet PillPack now shops for the higher price? The cost of one med was 1/2 the prescription price, why wasn't that offered? GoodRx had it cheaper too. I don't trust the people at Amazon to make medical decisions for me. There is no accountability. Pretty sure they violated some pharmacy laws. The pricing is poor now, the packaging is getting worse, the plastic they use has been lower and lower quality. They continue to print out all the paperwork, which I have opted out of to save a tree. Amazon / PillPack doesn't seem capable of running a medical pharmacy, let alone the safe & secure & sanitary delivery of medicine. Amazon/PillPack has lost alot of my trust from this experience. Perhaps it's time to switch to my bulk provider if Amazon is unable to run a pharmacy.

BAD BAD SERVICE!

Been with them 3 years. Started GREAT, ENDED horrible. SAD! Pillpack by Amazon Pharmacy is totally mismanaged and they don't deny it. From the pharmacy, to its packaging, ending with its customer service. I'M OFF to its competitor! RUN

Absolute nightmare!

Absolute nightmare!

We used Pillpack since 2018 - loved it!! The packaged medications allowed my son to go to college and live independently - it was amazing!

Now Amazon says that some of his meds (that pullback included) "can't be included in packets" - how can one pharmacy do it and another can't?

Amazon does not seem to care that their policies are taking away everything that was great about Pillpack.

Bummer that they are going to be just a regular pharmacy, and the benefits of Pillpack are now gone...

Amazon Pharmacy is definitely not like PillPack!

Pillpack was a great reliable service. It no longer is. Amazon can afford to lose thousands and thousands of dollars in revenue and not even think twice about it. I should have seen the red flags sooner. How amazing is it that the company I'm now with receives at least 10 calls an hour to switch over from Amazon? Things got to be very unorganized at your end!
And don't worry about me spreading the word, it will still be good at your end, unfortunately because some of your customer base are too naive to know they've been totally misled.

COMPLETE FAILURE

They made me switch from good old Pillpack to Amazon. Total nightmare. They didn't transfer my insurance and the cost doubled and worst of all they are shipping 7 INDIVIDUAL BOTTLES not packs. They said their system wasn't synced up. Complete failure!!!

The Pillpack/Amazon Merger House of Horror

I loved PillPack. I was with them for years before the merger with Amazon. Now, the Amazon experience is an utter nightmare. First, it is nearly impossible to speak with a live person. I wanted a simple vacation override for all my meds; I needed five extra days of medications. There is no such animal in Amazon. You have to request each medication separately, using a very user-UNfriendly website. Also, Amazon will not ship some medications in packets — even though PillPack did. I plan to return to my local brick & mortar pharmacy.

I love PillPack, lack of flexibility

I love PillPack. My medications are on time and accurate. The only drawback is flexibility. My husband and I found ourselves unexpectedly away on business for two weeks more than we planned. Meanwhile, our scripts ran out, but our new scripts had already been sent to our home. This was a problem that resulted in paying out of pocket.

If we had been with a pharmacy chain, they could have filled our prescriptions anywhere we would be.

Frustrating experience!!

I switched to pill pack thinking it would be a more streamlined prescription refill process but it has been the complete opposite. This has been the most frustrating pharmacy experience I have ever had. I needed partial refills on some of my medications so I could get back to being in synch so all meds could be refilled at the same time and not 1 every week. I called more than 5 times, each time being told it was possible to do partial refills, yet each time I received full 30 day refills. If you can't count, you shouldnt be a pharmacist. Its like the bare minimum requirement. I'm switching back to my local pharmacy.

I have to check every couple of weeks…

I have to check every couple of weeks to keep Pill Pack on track. I have had to transfer medications out of Pill Pack on a regular basis. The last straw, I got a two day notification that all 16 medications were not in inventory and that I’d have to go three days without lifesaving medicine. I needed a service like Pill Pack because of the AM/PM scheduling of medicine in packs was so convenient. I switched to a local pharmacy for good today and I will never go back. They have hours of notes from me over the past two years because they are so unbelievably unreliable. Amazon should support them better or close shop. Pill Pack currently sucks.
