Pixieset+Lightroom: a marriage made in heaven!

As a photographic artist, I wanted a quick & easy way to post my images to be viewed in a portfolio/gallery format and to effortlessly sell quality prints.

A friend of mine who is a portrait photographer showed me Pixieset. He showed me how to set it up, connect it to Lightroom and publish my finished images. Then, when you update any published photo in Lightroom, it is marked as "Modified to Republish".

Both he and I use the "Client Gallery" in Pixieset, NOT the "Website" builder. As a former web designer, I do not want to spend ANY more time configuring web pages, or navigation, or writing content or posting blogs. (But the choice is there if you want to go down those rabbit holes.) Personally, I only want to spend my time organizing, selecting and processing my photographs to publish and print.

The Client Gallery is a simple and elegant presentation for your photos, and integrates with the lab of your choice for fulfillment options—from plain prints to various types of frames, as well as canvas, metal, acrylic and more—depending on the lab that you choose.

the help pages are short, easy to understand, step-by-step answers with screenshots.

And if you need more assistance, use the "Contact Us" button and post your question to the "chatbot." Soon, an ACTUAL PIXIESET EMPLOYEE will respond within 24 hours—every time! They have always been extremely helpful, and sometimes I even make suggestions for features that they appreciate receiving and sometimes eventually implement.

It appears that most of the negative reviews on here are from customers OF photographers who haven't setup Pixieset correctly for their clients to view & purchase photos.

That is no fault of Pixieset, and Pixieset certainly can't go into those Client Galleries and configure them for those customers of the photographers! Those customers need to push back on their photographers, rather than leave hate reviews here about Pixieset. (Honestly, people can be so mean online just because they are "invisible".)

If you are a photographer looking for a fast, efficient, and elegant solution for publishing and selling your photographs, Pixieset is it!

And it's FREE forever, if you want! No gimmicks—only upgrade to a paid plan when you need more space or more features. My friend, a very active portrait photographer, was on the free plan for many years until he finally ran out of space. (You get 3 GB on the free plan.)

I have been using Pixieset for over two years now, on a daily basis. I switched to a paid plan so I could use my own domain name and logo, and also for commission-free sales.

In the past I have used Zenfolio (too expensive and too much website "design" work to do); and then I custom-built my own WordPress site integrated with Fotomoto for fulfillment (WAY too much work and time-consuming); and I also checked out ShootProof, Smugmug, Photoshelter and Photobucket, but each site and setup had its own very time-consuming complexities.

Pixieset+Lightroom allows me to focus on just one thing: doing my photography.

Lack of Practical Tutorials Is the Main Problem

The app is probably easy to use once you learn it. However, they do not offer tutorials, and searching for them on YouTube can be frustrating because the content I need simply is not there. Their YouTube channel is filled with podcasts and personal stories, but it lacks the most important thing: tutorials!!!! There is no time to waste searching through countless videos just to find the information I actually need. Similar platforms have at least published short 2–3 minute tutorials where you can quickly find what you are looking for.

Pixieset is Brilliant… Until You Need Help

The Pixieset platform itself is fantastic — sleek, intuitive, and a brilliant tool for photographers and creatives. I’ve loved using it for showcasing albums and galleries. BUT… the customer service is a huge letdown.

I lost access to my account after my domain email (linked via GoDaddy) lapsed. Despite providing clear evidence that I owned both the business and the domain — including access to my business Facebook page and website — they refused to help me recover the account because I couldn’t remember my PIN or past client emails.

I completely understand the need for security, but when you're locked out of your business and have legitimate proof of ownership, there should be some flexibility or escalation process. Instead, I was left stuck and essentially told to start from scratch.

A brilliant product let down by a rigid and unhelpful support system. If you're considering Pixieset, just be warned — if you ever lose access, you might lose your whole portfolio with it.

Pixieset Website has a flawed payment system

I hired a photographer to shoot a wedding. The photographer uses Pixieset to house the photo gallery and it's where I'm supposed to go to design and buy a wedding album. I did the album and when I went to buy it, I couldn't. The stated reason on the website is that the photographer failed to set up a payment option for me to do this. I contacted customer service through the chat system on the website and the response was basically, too bad - your photographer failed to set up a payment system. So, now our wedding photos are just sitting in Pixieset with no way to purchase a wedding album.

Super easy to set up & use

Super easy to set up & use. I went from logging in for the first time, to creating a gallery, to uploading & sharing a photo set in just a few minutes. The end result is really impressive!

Thank you Sarah from Pixiset!

Due to deciding to stop my photography business, I ended my subscription with Pixiset. But had been charged for the next yearly subscription, so I wanted to see if I could get my money back. Trying to get your money back from most businesses is hard, that was not the case with Sarah at Pixiset, I had a reply within a couple of hours, and my money was back in my account within a few days. My overall experience with Pixiset was great, thank you Sarah and the Pixiset team!

This company destroyed our websites

You have betrayed your and flothemes customers, causing me/us to lose a lot of money and time by shutting down purchased products from flothemes on which we build the websites on. You destroyed all the effort that went into building websites based on wordpress & flothemes. You force us to re implement the websites on another engine/core, which means approximately a 20.000€ loss/costs per website. No one who values own time and money should consider a pixieset product or service in the future.

They've killed Flothemes

They've acquired Flothemes, a platform many of us have invested in. Now they're bombarding us with marketing emails, announcing they won't support WordPress anymore and pushing us to migrate to their proprietary builder. Nearly every wedding photographer I know relies on Flothemes for WordPress. However, I doubt that many of us, including myself, will embrace Pixieset as an alternative. It's terrible to witness the practice of acquiring and dismantling companies that so many people depend on.

Your website is full of errors and almost impossible to find on Google. And it's impossible to cancel your plan to downgrade to the free version and I lost access to my website. I had 16 days left till renewal and yet they blocked it. On to square space, i go

My photographer posted my wedding…

My photographer posted my wedding gallery on this website. My mother-in-law and I both ordered prints directly from the website and received bad prints. Each of the photos are extremely dark and although you can see the people, all of their facial features are difficult to see. When I spoke to my photographer, she told me to speak with Pixieset. However, Pixieset refused to help me in anyway at all. Explained that the photographer was responsible and needed to give Pixieset permission to speak with me. There isn't a customer service number or anyone to verbally speak with. I've emailed several times explaining my issue and my photographer seems to be having an equally difficult time. It's the worse customer service I have ever experienced. I'm now out money and left with dark photos of my wedding day that was on the beach on a sunny beautiful day. I emailed Pixieset my photographer's email and asked them to reach out to her and the response was the same, "have the photographer contact us." This is the worse customer service I have ever experiences, and I truly hope no one else has the same issue.

Shady Behavior

First of all, if you decide to use their "Store" option for your galleries, and your client places an order and is unhappy with the products they receive, be prepared for Pixieset to be of little to no help in resolving the situation. I have nightmare stories here. Like pixieset claiming that dark and fuzzy images are "normal", just because they don't want to admit that the print quality was not faithful to the image provided.

Recently after hours of communication they agreed to refund me the "full cost of goods sold" for an order so that I could refund my customer. They said the money should hit my account in a few days, but now it's almost two weeks later and I've never received a dime. This is the SECOND time they have done this exact thing to me. I pay a monthly subscription for their services and am extremely disappointed in their customer service for their paying subscribers. Also, all communication is done through a chat box, which is a NIGHTMARE. And all of their customer service reps copy paste their responses, not even replying directly to what you've said. These reps make sure to word everything in the most manipulative and predatory way possible to try to trick you into thinking they are helping solve the problem when they are actually doing less than the bare minimum. I can't believe I've been paying $20 a month for such poor service. Beware.

Lots of features

Lots of features, great support. I've been jumping around a few platforms but always seemed to be coming back to pixieset and this time i'm staying. They have everything I need to run my small business smoothly. But when I had a few questions, their support team was quick and helpful. Rarely do I praise the support, but pixie's stood out for me.
